  • Nothing even gets close to the class act that is Paddy McAloon especially these days, brilliant lyrics.

  • "So you're living in Eden where apples are good' - what an artful way to imply your loved one's playing away from home. It's deft lyrical touches like this that keep me returning to the Sprouts again and again.

  • Love the drums at the end of this.

  • Mane oh mane, am main

  • fav prefab sprout track!!!!

  • Paddy, I would travel anywhere on earth for a reunion gig. Love you x

  • Dear Paddy McAloon, I have about 20 songs I could never live without, I have you to thank for about half of them, and this is one of them.

  • Ryanair are doing flights to Limoges for a pound

  • I bet paddy's saving a fortune on air travel then

  • @GypDylo

    LOL!!

  • Why did this never make it onto one of their early albums..???

  • Awesome.....!!

  • Oh my ... still my favourite song of all time. Paddy Mc and the Sprouts - genius. Great memory.

  • This is my favorite Band! And I was born in the late 80's!

    Great song this one!

  • there is a god!

  • if you take the first letters of the words of this songs you will have Limoges. Try to know why :-)

  • It's a french city were his former girlfriend lived at the time.

  • Paddy's girlfriend lived in Limoges, France.

  • yeah....this was an ace track...good live performance too:)

  • The original version of this is a bit harder and edgier but this brings back great memories

  • 26 years ago I bought this record! But I still don't know what has arrived. I know the percussion has come, but WHAT has arrived??

  • Militia?

  • Kind of disconcerting that this is 25 years old now. I still love it. Does this mean I'm turning into my parents, droning on about the oldies? (sigh)

  • lol!:-) x

  • kudos to the guy in the audience who is singing along!

  • Apparently this was named after where his girlfriend lived in France ☺

  • Yep, Limoges.

I'll let you work it out! ;-)

  • Great tune, i brought this when it came out as a 12" single (SK8 on Kitchenware) with Walk on and the devil has all the best tunes. A porky prime cut!!!!

  • Do you know where i can get my porky hands on said 12"?

  • Remeber Kid Jensen championing them & one night he rang them up & they'd all gone down the pub! Or did I make that up...?

  • la grande classe.. rien à dire

  • Tout à fait d'accord

  • The greatest popmeister alive. Patty Joe is a genius

  • A brilliant live version of this song from the Sprouts first album "Swoon". Only wish I was there to see it, alas I was too young!

  • It's not on any copy of "Swoon" I've encountered. But certainly, excellent footage! Still possibly the best PS song.

  • Can confirm that and can also say 'Lions' is on the '38 Carat Collection' from a few years back. Also on a Kitchenware compilation featuring other artists on their roster as well as the Sprouts.

New album supposed to be coming out soon ... ish.

  • Yeah i never figured out why the Sprouts didn't put "Lions In My Own Garden: Exit Someone" on their debut album, it's a classic! ☺☺☺

  • When will the world appreciate the genius that is Paddy McAloon? One of the greatest british songwriters ever. Memories keep flooding back...

  • note this trivia: 3 spectacular bands have featured harmonica on their debut single - the beatles, prefab sprout, the smiths

  • Wow! Love Me Do...Hand in Glove...Amazing observation!

  • And also Stevie Wonder - I Call It Pretty Music ☺ lol

  • Have you seen the version of Hand in Glove they do with Sandie Shaw, tis a classic ☺

  • Great Band, my Dad got me in to them as they are before my time (I'm 24), this is my favourite song of theirs. One of Britains most underated bands of all time.

  • Yeah!! Paddy is fantastic.

Their eyes don't fill with wonder when you speak...

  • Fantastic number this. Immensely underated lyricist and song-writer is Paddy. Just read the lyrics to Technique.

  • Sigh, one of the greatest, least heralded songs of the 80's. Well-performed here. Thanks for up-loading the vid..

  • Ah, poor boy. His girlfriend had gone off to Limoges (Lions in my own cryptic crossword clue) and he was worried she would meet a nice Frenchman...

  • macaloon is a genius
