It would take light an hour and 20 min to travel from the radius to the surface and 2 hrs 40 min to travel from one edge to another.

Since light travels only in straight lines, travelling the circumference would be impossible. But if it wasn't, since circumference = 2*PI*r, light would take 8 and a half hours to travel that distance !... 8.5 times slower than a clock!
