  • I'm not convinced that the video is on a real C64.

Provide a link to download the demo, otherwise.

  • its tvs patrick duffy "high kids im tvs patrick duffy

  • It would be even more awesome, if you used the correct chords.

  • SO ROCK!!!! GREAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!

  • Now do one for Charles in Charge

  • Ha ha! Awesome.

and unfortunately I still remember this boring show, you just can't get that song out of your head.

  • SSSSSSSUUUUPPPPEEEEERRRR!!!!!

If it is real, then I say "at last, here are some people who know how to do wonders with the C64", if it is fake, then I say "at last, here are some people who know how to fake properly an 8-bit computer"

  • I'm unimpressed. You can barely recognize anything, the gradients are just wrong (orange, red and grey for skin color?) and the palette's all wrong, too (what kinda orange is that). This is most likely streamed from a hard drive (IDE64). The 2010 NUVIE version is just so much better in every respect! ;-)

  • Search for "Commodore C64 Video Player - Dallas Intro" for the 2010 version with different graphic-mode.

  • Anything's possible with the programmers of the C64 scene today, developing new effects, etc.

  • @senorverde09 Sad to think that's the case, but probably true.

I don't know the size of the cartridge ROMS, but it's possible that the video data could be on a cartridge, which would be the only source I can think of that's fast enough to stream that much data in that short time.

I know that SID music alone can take several rasterlines of time, so there's probably not enough left to visit all pixels w/ updates for 60fps video.

Demos do amazing things, hence this is believable even if fake ;)

  • @ZeroByte They're only 8K in size. I've downloaded the SID and it's 4K in size, leaving only 4K worth of digitzed video. Maybe there's a chance if they 'stream' it constantly from a disk drive.

  • @senorverde09 maybe it's streamed from REU, which can be 16MB at theory. Search for "BluREU", a 16MB REU Demo... And by the way, the C64 has 64K of Ram...

  • I love the music, that will be based at 8bit won't it?

  • The song is FUCKING AWESOME !!!

  • I am going to go out on a limb here and say this is a fake or made with some special hardware.

  • That was very impressive. I liked the SID rendition of the main theme!

  • ..VERY COOL! ..but wtf dallas ?(and not the man from atlantis? <e.g.)

  • Wow. 5* Add to fav.

    How did you do this?

  • i have that game for C64.

  • That's just BRILLIANT! How did you convert video into Commodore 64 Format? I remember playing games on the C 64, pretty graphical, but not with advanced graphics of that magnitude!

  • THAT WAS AMAZING!!! how did you do that?

  • what filter did you use?

  • I wish I could make something like that 5*s

  • Genius!

  • I made on like this once...oooh many bloody years ago :)

  • Which Hardware is needed to playback the Video ?

Is there a download available for this demo ?

  • impressiv

  • Groovy.

  • cool. it would be interesting to know how this was done.

  • Just amazing...

    xD

If I remember correctly, there was a tennis game with a 3D intro.

  • Probably one of the most awesome things I've ever seen.

  • LOL! 3D World on a C64!

  • I can't believe a machine with a 1MHz CPU is able to do that...

  • It's all in the programming. Programs these days are made by people who don't know how to properly optimize. They just throw more RAM and CPU at the performance problem.

  • @DefconComputers Aye.. completely agree! Especially computer games :P

Not to forget fucking Windows Vista :P Perfect example of fucked up programming.. "YOU NEED 2 GIGABYTES OF RAM AND SICK LOADS OF GIGAHERTZ!"

when a 128mb ram 500mhz laptop can do the same graphics and flow with UBUNTU :P

  • @DefconComputers yeah, and without additional ram you will get video playback...

  • Streaming off an IDE64, right?

  • Does anyone have a C64 tape, disk or cartridge file of this?

  • cool! i live in dallas!

  • lol digitized... good stuff.. long live c64!

  • Awesome work dude!

  • G.O.L.D.

  • omfg! i used to have a C64!!!

    ~SexXxyNinja~

  • Unless special hardware is involved, this could only be done with 2 1541 drives and special background streaming.

  • Awsome stuff, I had no idea you could do that on a C64.

  • How did you manage this? Did you create it?

  • i cant belive it! c64 render this in real time????

how 1 mhz machine ONE MHZ could do this? (i was a quite happy user of c64 about 15 years ago)

  • haha thats great!

  • hahahaha Nice! :)

  • haha, this is hilarious

  • Kool, even though I don't know what I'm looking at haha.

  • wow thats kewl, but talk about one of the most random things ever.

  • wow, that's really cool!
