In fairness to the government agency, they are IN FACT doing their job on this one - they ensure that even singers as famous as Martin Nievera adhere to the rules. Baka naman dumating ang araw, hindi na tayo maka-identify sa kanta natin dahil binago na nang singers na gustong kantahin, gaano man siya ka-proud kantahin yun.
Adhering to the approved version of Lupang Hinirang does not mean resisting to change in other areas of national improvement. It means, having ONE VERSION of the song as symbol for the Phils. THere are different rules governing national symbols. Do we want our flag to be drawn by artists/painters in a different way? changing the way the sun looks or the its stars? or using different colors?
Why do we sing the national anthem (if not everyday) as close as its approved version BUT sing it differently when everyone in the world is there to possibly hear it?

At kahit may 'poetic license' ang singers para magkaroon ng ibang rendition sa mga kinakanta nila, yung batas na yun ang nagpro-protekta sa ibang rendition na gagawin ng artist. Gaano man kaganda kesa original ang rendition, it does not change the fact that he did change it.

martin, you DID change the notes. the national anthem is supposed to be sung as a "march". not making it RnB doesn't mean you didn't change it. if you want to be technical, the tempo, time signature and melody were generally changed. sure it sounds a lot like the original but making it like a pop ballad or whatever isn't right. most Filipinos lost so much respect in our country.. don't be one of them.

As a singer, an artist dapat magpakita siya ng halimbawa ng magandang asal sa public para respetuhin siya at idolohin siya. This law simply needs to be amended. I don't think their was intentional misconduct or an act of bad faith by Martin Nievera. The main attraction was the fight and the philipines should rejoice for having such a great champion, chrisitan and brother.

Martin's rendition of the Philippine national Anthem was fantastic. I do not understand why some of the Filipinos dwell a small issue like this especially those who condemned Martin for not singing the anthem in accordance with the standard version on how it is supposed to be sang. come on guys! Adhering to the approved version of Lupang Hinirang does not mean resisting to change in other areas of national improvement. It means, having ONE VERSION of the song as symbol for the Phils. THere are different rules governing national symbols. ang idea: may batas na nagsasabi na kailangan kantahin sa na-approve na version ang Lupang Hinirang. This is logical to have a common way of singing anywhere. At kahit may 'poetic license' ang singers para magkaroon ng ibang rendition sa mga kinakanta nila, yung batas na yun ang nagpro-protekta sa ibang rendition na gagawin ng artist. Gaano man kaganda kesa original ang rendition, it does not change the fact that he did change it.

martin, you DID change the notes. the national anthem is supposed to be sung as a "march". not making it RnB doesn't mean you didn't change it. if you want to be technical, the tempo, time signature and melody were generally changed. sure it sounds a lot like the original but making it like a pop ballad or whatever isn't right. most Filipinos lost so much respect in our country.. don't be one of them.

That was exactly his intention. Didn't you get it? He just changed the tune of LUPANG HINIRANG to get the attention of the public. Martin sang it to represent his expertise in music not as a proud Filipino. He did change it for his own personal interest.

Walang mapagdiskitahan kaya pati National Anthem gagawan pa ng issue.
If you listen to it, walang nabagong nota sa kanta, and that's what's important. About the beat, it was better than the original.
Sabi nga sa kanta ni Kiko, "Sabi ni Heber wag kang manggaya, wag kang manggaya kung hindi mo rin kaya at dapat ay yung matinong matino kahit ang ilong mo'y baliko.."

This law simply needs to be amended. I don't think their was intentional misconduct or an act of bad faith by Martin Nievera. The main attraction was the fight and the philipines should rejoice for having such a great champion, chrisitan and brother.

Lupang Hinirang iyan ang tunak na tatak ng mga Pilipino. Mawala man sina Charice, Arnel at Manny nariyan pa rin ang Lupang Hinirang at ang Pilipinas. Pero pag nawala ang Lupang Hinirang mawawala na rin ang Pilipinas. Kung may problemang kahirapan sa BANSA, it has nothing to do with the National Anthem. My gosh.. should this even be an issue at all? There are other 'singers' out there who couldn't even sing the the song properly. Martin sang it as a professional, and as a proud modern Filipino. i listen to martin rendition of the national anthem its was good. But martin this is our national anthem, not just a song that you could change. it was by our heroes for the filipino people. tama naman sha na hindi dapat binabago. kita mo walang nakasabay sa pagkanta mo. coz everybody has shock. you said you sing your hearts out. diba mas maganda kung lahat nakisabay sayo. there are thinks na hindi na dapat pinapalitan o binabago end this is one of it.

Martin Nievera sang the Lupang Hinirang very, very well. He sang it with all his heart and soul. Why is it a biggie on how he sang it?.. Actually his rendition was fantastic. Slow at first and fast beat next, which I believed really matched the National Anthem's Lyrics. Martin did a great job.. Proud of you Martin!!!.. It's time for the Filipinos to wake up and change....
