  • i dont get how people ever let them selves get fat. Quit thinking about working out and just do it, like the nike logo. When u dont working for FOREVER ur going to be sore for the first week or 2 but after that its so easy. I will never understand why people are so lazy. I dont care who u are or what u do, u have time to workout in ur day. Even if its only 30 minutes

  • @Immaculate210 I don't understand how people can let themselves be completely retarded when it comes to spelling and grammar. I don't understand how people can be so lazy and not spell out you or you're instead of u and ur. I don't care who YOU are or what YOU do YOU have time to spell correctly in YOUR day. Even if it is just a post on YouTube.

  • @Immaculate210

Some rare people can work out like mad and still be massive fat asses. For example roy big country nelson is a top twenty ranked mixed martial artiest and probably does some thing like 5 hours of hard work outs a day. He managed to go the distance with the current ufc champion. But yeah the majority of people are just lazy mother fuckers.

  • Well watching this video was my workout for the day.

  • @JesseMcCarl ha ha ha XD

  • When I started doing them I eliminated the pushup part of it, but eventually added it back in when my fitness level improved.

  • Wtf omggg I want those pullup rings. Nowww

  • Best exercise in the world... and the worst. Burp.

  • I never knew about Burpee but I'm going to start doing them for about a week and see how it turns out.

Nice video but that music is fucking horrible!

  • @FunnyMoneyDummy how'd it work out?

  • @FunnyMoneyDummy how'd it work out?

  • @b2spirita I gave up after 2 days. -_-

  • 0:50 Killer

  • 1:13 AWESOME!

  • nice crossfit gym

  • good workout but it looks extremely stupid.

  • Burpee straight into a muscle up? Impressive!

  • thankyou for this video, I am teaching a boxercise class today and wanted to check the technique of a burpee.

  • I've seen many people doing a burpee by touching the ground with their body (legs, chest etc.). But doesn't this drop the tension in the muscles, cause you've never DO touch the ground with any part of the legs (quads) or chest in a normal pushup.

Why should I touch the floor with legs (quads) and/or chest? What's the benefit?

  • @Stjarnor I don't see the point in touching your legs to the floor. but as long as you aren't resting against the floor for even the slightest moment, you wont be releasing tension from the muscle. In fact that will work a wider range of motion than just going down till your arms form a 90deg angle and would give you a better stretch and bigger pump.

So basically, push back up the moment you feel the top of your chest touch the ground like a normal pushup. There's variations too.

  • @Stjarnor "Another tip to get the most out of your push-ups: Don't let your chest actually touch the floor when you come down.

Your chest should come within 2 to 3 inches of the floor. Put a textbook, a sneaker, a rolled-up sock underneath you, and when you touch it, it's time to go back up," says Ross, who was named ACE's 2008 personal trainer of the year."

.. try it yourself. You ARE loosing tension by "bumping" off the floor. You never let the bar bounce of the chest in a benchpress, right?

  • yes this is crossfit aka super bad ass

  • Anyone know where this is? Is this a CrossFit gym?

  • @bournese

    A Gym?

Wait.. it's a man, and a womanm both training. - The Location looks like their home, with much investments into equpiment. I would say:

    It's their home =D

  • @killplayboy

I've been to a crossfit gym of a similar size with less resources, so it's possible.

  • @curtis2a, @MyStillRemains The song is Joan Jett singing "I hate myself for loving you"

  • @curtis2a, @MyStillRemains The song is Joan Jett singing "I hate myself for loving you"

  • :53 my god you people are insane.

  • i have a sudden urge to watch sunday night football now.

  • please the name of the song, good to boost my wod.thanxxxxx

    Crossfit or die.

  • so...exactly how many do i have to do? 5 right...they start to hurt after

  • Can anyone plz tell me the song name?

  • @hillwgh - how many sets of burpees should I do or is it just 1 set to failure?

  • AWESOME STUFF!!

  • Niiiiceee music... Reallyyy niiiceee performance!!!! Yikes!!! :-)

  • Why do they pause at every step? No one does it like that.

  • @thesoni Because they are demonstrating it. Watch the rest of the video before you comment next time. You can see people doing them at full speed, and with variations according to fitness level.

  • kick ass litlle gym its got the lot, love the burpee ring pull ups at the end,im well jealous, nice oone people!!!:)

  • Yeeaaaah, Burpees. Official sponsored exercise of the Marine Corps. We usually use them as a loser's exercise.

"If you win the sprint, you do twenty push-ups. If you lose, you do twenty burpees."

That shit hurts when you do it again and again. Twenty burpees at a time adds up REALLY fast.

  • @omegaham try doing 150+ of them out in the Field because you left you rifle Arm's length + 6 inches away from you

  • @Seksivince Back in boot camp, our senior told us before the initial PFT, "You're gonna do a hundred crunches, or else you're gonna do a hundred Burpees." We had some fatbodies who couldn't do it, and they got slayed.

  • These get so tiring!

  • I only started exercising as I have been a healthy weight my whole life, and just a few days ago I noticed I was packing on a few pounds.

Thanks for this video, guys, I finally know how to do a burpee xD Helping me lose a lot of calories. The extra pushup helps, too.

I would break my arms though trying to pull my self up on the handles like that though :(

  • DAM GOOD VID

  • burpees? wtf? why the hell would someone name a exersize such a hideous name, the person who gave it this name probably had herpes and burped alot and decided to name an exersize 'burpees".

  • @johnmkrs83 Royal H. Burpee. He invented it.

  • @folklore2 im sorry that name is just ridiculous, how can anyone take take somone serious with that name. theres no way that a real name.

  • @johnmkrs83 He was born in the 19th century, they had different names back then. I'm sure people from that period would find some of our names fucking weird to. Heck, I do. Still, it is a strange name.

  • schlechte technik einige

  • I did 8 x 10 solid burpees yesterday and now i have a stiffness =(

  • 0:51-end------i think not.

  • I love the modified version. It'll be a great starting point for me 'till I'm able to do the standard pushup "comfortably". :)

    TY so much!!!

  • Have you thought of clapping your hands during a burpee push-up?

  • are you supposed to have the legs separate when you do the push up or together or it doesnt matter?

  • this is the best excercise ever and it works! there brutal but man its better than those stupid ads on tv like the big ball things. man those ads piss me off. if you want to be fit, do these burpees every other day.

  • Another great video by CrossFit. You guys are amazing.

  • GREAT video!!! I do burpees in my training... It works!!!

  • Great!

Most videos showing people performing x burpees in y seconds has terrible form. Not this one fortunately.

    Thank you.

  • this is so 80's :) makes me laugh, thanks for posting :) burpees are really effective!

  • you don't even need to do the entire pushup phase in a burpee. adding the down and up movement increases total muscle work, and using knees or not is still beneficial. you also don't see anyone in the video showing them bringing their knees up to their chest in the jump portion, but that's not a problem either. burpees are awesome because the exercise advances with you as your fitness level advances. appreciate the video as a good guide and leave your ignorant bitterness out of it. =)

  • @malfeam IMO, the burpee you describe is not effective. I finally found a video where I thought it was the 'proper' way to do a burpee. Specifically, getting into the plank position and doing the entire pushup phase. Without that, I find that it's not as effective in strength training and not as challenging. I could do 50 burpees easily the way you described, but with the entire pushup phase, I can only do 20 - 25.

  • Fucking Hell! Guys are so fast to judge. They probably didn't even finish watching the video. Just saw the woman demonstrating the easier pushup and right away wanted to make stupid comments. Ugh.

  • SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

  • lol i was thinking the same thing

  • Love the video! Great demonstration of good form and and variations. And especially enjoyed the "muscle-ups" at the end. Working on mine. Hope it's ok, but I posted this to my SmashFit Fan Page. We have over 3000 fans who will take a look :)

  • that's not sloppy, some people just don't have the upper body strength to do a full pushup. though she definitely should be working to develop the strength to do so...

  • Women do different push ups. It's the female push up. Google it.

  • I think its just to demonstrate how to do an easier version of a pushuo for peeps who cant perform a full one. Bet she can do a full one

  • wooo looks fun and tough..im gonna do these instead of my usual running

  • do these after your usual run. running is still better for your heart

  • Do you need to have your chest hit the floor?because I just can't do pushups but only mini ones

  • its called squat thrusts

  • Squat thrists are without the push up :)

  • we these in football they suck!

  • change the song its cheezy as fuk

  • That's why you listen to Amon Amarth and have the sound on mute ;)

  • this wil burn u up quick ! .

  • Burpees are killers!

  • its like an orgy of health

  • do these with zeus: in the first minute u do 1, in the second, 2, and so on until 15 minutes. then tell me how u feel.

  • lol the woman did knee press ups

  • didnt realize that was funny...

  • and Im talking about the woman in the pink shirt BTW, the one in the beginning is obviously capable of a normal burpee seeing as how she does a muscle uplater in the video.

  • I understand she's a woman, but for Godsakes, get your fuckin knees off the deck. It partially defeats the purpose of the burpee and most of the Crossfit type women do the pushups normally anyway.

  • Thanks for the clarity, I just started doing these and was hittimg the ground like i was about to bust a worm. This helped, thanks again

  • Yuck!! id rather be water boarded!

  • we did these in wrestling practice for like ever, but ours were slightly different. We didn't do the jump thing at the end and we were going for speed.

  • What a lazy bitch. Do the fucking push up.

  • Shut up, have some respect.

  • you really think she's lazy and just didnt want to do the pushup, but did a muscle up anyway?

she was just illustrating a modification that may be necessary for some of the less fit women and elderly.

  • my recruiter makes us do these but he called them body builders.

  • ^ 6 count body builders

  • Best burpee explanation video I have ever seen.

  • ok what does the jumping part do?

  • hurt

  • going from a squatting position to a jump back to a squatting position works your leg muscles and burns after a little bit

  • Sweet man, thanks for the tip.

  • explosive power through the legs and core

  • Bob from Biggest Loser was talking about this on his facebook today and although i'm an exercise buff, i had never heard of this exercise. Now that I've seen this video, i know I've done this exercise before, but I didn't know it was called a burpee. Thanks for the video example guys! LOL!

  • i'm trying to learn to free run

  • why does the girl cheat?

  • She wants to conserve her beautiful tits

  • its a demonstration of a variation of the exercise for those that arent as strong. They are showing different ways to do this exercise.

  • burpee is something u g2 train for, i am rly physically strong, but i didnt get passed 20 in a row, but that was a 1st time attempt, its like doing tricep extensions but never doing push ups and expecting to get 50+ push ups, u g2 train for them

  • Wow that looks like fun.... Well maybe not. But I think ill add these to my day.

  • Song name, please? =)

  • songname and info - "I Hate Myself for Loving You", by Joan Jett and the BlackHearts, same same band that did "I Love Rock N Roll" recently covered by Britney.

  • lol, "recently"

I think that sort of "dates" you even if we ignore the fact that you know who Joan Jett is. Not that I'm judging, because I knew that, too ;)

  • nice workout area

  • burpee is one of hardest exercises in terms of getting out of breath. i can do only 30 in a row and am breathing like a horse. i dont do jump or pushup in my burpee though.

  • If u dont do a jump or push up in your burpee its not really a burpee then, its a sprawl, but 30 in a row is not to shabby

  • if you dont do a jump or pushup then its basically what football calls an "up-down"

  • LMAO!

  • Looks tough on joints.

  • do you have to add the jump at the end?

  • So being fat is straight?

  • Who told you that?

  • Looked in the mirror lately?

  • omg that last part was insane! WELL RATED

  • i like doing them right under a chinup bar so u do the burpee and after u jump do a chinup or pullup whatever you do.

  • wish i had thos rings in my house!!

  • incorporating the rings for dips is a great idea

  • those are called muscle ups

  • That hot chick doesn't have as far to go for her chest to touch the ground.

  • She looks pretty hot, eh?

  • this is such a kickass exercise.

only 200 every other day (minus the rings) plus moderate weight training and walks, i'm set.

calisthenics integrated into a workout routine rounds it out nice burning fat and increasing explosive power.

not everybody has access to a pool for swimming, and i a prone to ear infections anyway.

  • I agree with DrewBaye

    fast and jerky isn't good.

but in a slow controlled manner you would be able to maintain good form/technique. I wouldn't trust it as an aerobic exercise.

  • I never had any joint pain from doing these. I'm 28 and I do a timed pyramid of 210 everyday after work. It's a great way to drop fat.

  • These are great to fuck up your joints. But you only realise that past 35 years old of course.

    Good job.

  • I agree... this looks intensive, but it will cause future problems. I think the best possible exercise is swimming. You work the majority of your muscles, without any joint damage, and as a bonus, you don't overheat / sweat! :D

  • You do overheat and sweat when you swim. Trust me, I swam at national level. You don't notice the sweat because you're surrounded by water and once you start to overheat it's almost unbearable. There is no way to dissipate it.

But it is stress free on joints, which is good.

  • It depends on how you do them. If you can do them with smooth transitions and without bouncing when tucking the knees after the push up, and if you're careful to drop the hips and lead with the chest on the way up rather than the back, they are not as bad. When they're done in a fast, jerky manner it's a whole different story.

  • Walking, sittings, going up stairs, down stairs, getting in ur car, shifting on the couch, jogging, running, its all the same as this. The body is made the move like this on a regular basis. 30 of these a day won't do jack all to your joints.

  • well it adds up...

  • It anything, this improves your joint structure. People who sit all day, on chairs, those are the people you hear about that have joint issues/back problems. Sitting in one position, putting all the weight on one specific part of your joint for long periods of time does long term damage. Moving, jumping, this stuff is what our body is built to do. A mistake can result in injury, or doing it wrong can hurt the joints.

  • Thats not a traditional Burpee

  • This is awesome, thanks for puting up a video of real burpees with pushups and not 1/2 burpees!

  • These are great.

  • Awesome
