Doubles as a coffin or ensures your body won't need one when you get squished by a big American sedan!
I can't believe they would make a comparison between the high speed trains and this P.O.S.. That's like GM saying, "Hey, our country brought you the moon landing, now check out our amazing Chevy Vega!"
@MaestroTJS Haha Good one! I Agree Yeah And I Only think One of these Pieces of CRAP Would ever come close to Reaching that 230MPH Is If you Dropped it off of a Cliff! Iam sure An American Sedan could Hit Like 10 of these before Taking Any damage! Renault Le CRAP
@jakesaintsrow123 I think I remember watching a car show a few years ago that said the sporty version of this (kind of equivalent to a VW GTI) was a fun car to drive. That might have been possible, but so is a go-cart, and I wouldn't want one of those as a daily driver.
It was either that or they chose it as one of the crappiest cars ever, I don't really remember, lol
@petitleondieu I'm pretty sure that the previous poster meant that the "quality was shitty." When it comes to quality, Le Cars were really shitty for the average person who does not do their own maintenance. I was a Renault auto mechanic in the USA back in the 1980s and I did own a 1982 1229 series Le Car so I do know what I am talking about. I wish this car could be made today in it's exact cosmetic form but with modern corrosion inhibition properties and fuel injection. Very fun car!!!
@petitleondieu What is it with you French? Your cars looked very interesting and sometimes cool. The RENAULTS had HORRENDOUS reliability. Why can't you people engineer QUALITY into your cars? All of your cars RIDE great! Why do they NEED to BREAK?
@chevy0500 I have owned cars from all horizons (2 vW , Mercedes 190 E, Volvo (850), Ford (Mondeo), Alfa Romeo (Spider), Peugeot (505 and 405) and 2 Le Cars (mod. 1228 3 doors US model and mod. 1399 4 doors Canadian 5 GTL). My worst experience and regret: the 850 and the 2nd VW. I stil drive my 4 doors Lecar w. 228 000 km. original engine and clutch. Muffler and master cylinder had to be changed twice. As noblegeek says, rust is the biggest issue. Mechanically, it is a very reliable car.
@chevy0500 I have a 1985 Peugeot 205 GTI. It's pretty well all original and is the most fun and reliable car I've ever owned. This is even compared to Suburbans, Explorers, an Integra Type-R, two Grand Prix SJs, and a BMW 328i. It really just depends on which French car you buy. ;)
Le-FLOP! This car departed from our shores (North America) soon after this commercial was released.

Le Crap sums it up, I think.

They look shitty to you because american people are not able to drive standards, just like elderly and disabled people.
Get out of your country!
