This is a very confronting question. Could it have something to do with the Spirit of God? or the state of the Church? or the faithfulness of the individual believer?
Must we also remember that many of these hymns were written centuries ago by men and women who were under heavy external pressure, and therefore must have been heavily convicted in their soul by the Spirit of God to have written these words?
Ford had one of the finest voices of any singer of any genre of any time.
