  • Would you happen to know it's scale speed?

  • @DivineShockwave

    sorry i dunno.

according to a field guide, the body size of this species is around 20mm.

  • @DivineShockwave "Tiger Beetle it can run up to 171 times its size in one second, 8km/h (5mph).

Despite its famous reputation, the cheetah would have to run 770 kilometres per hour ''

  • @VincentNeveuMessier Thank you!

  • @VincentNeveuMessier

hi, thx for ur helpful feedback.

so, the tiger beetle can run faster than the cheetah!

  • @DivineShockwave Try this logic. Cockroach can move 2.9mph, and if scaled to a lion it can move 70mph. And this beetle can move 5.57mph so I'm guessing if scaled it would be about... *calculating in head* ...around 130mph. Depending on how much smaller this beetle is to a roach the speed could be a lot more! But that's extremely hard to imagine..

  • I see that this lovely beetle inspired the composition of a beat tune. They go well together.

It is a charming insect and I liked the other close-up video as well. (though a typo crept into my comment).

  • @rosmarinusofficialis

i just searched for a bgm w/ keyword "tiger" in the YT audioswap library.

it is so hard to film a tiger beetle at closeup

they r so agile and jumpy.

  • lightning fast.

  • @AceofDlamonds

it is one of the most difficult subjects to film in closeup.

  • Too fast :)

  • yeah, like a tiger.
