  • Mean amp

  • Amazing sound with the Rat!!!

  • Brilliant tone, is your Rat equipped with the 308 chip or is it a new edition?

  • @farbrorpuh Chip.... hmmm I like Doritos myself. Had it 5 or 6 years made in USA thats all I know.

  • Beautiful tone

  • Jeeeeeeezzzz...dooom on man \m/

  • @sweetcheeks881 Your thinking of the newer ones made by Fender they were two channel amps. All though this 74 Model T has a master volume it don't nearly have enough dirt for most people.

  • Isnt there distortion on the sunn amps?

  • @sweetcheeks881 Don't think so. They are pretty clean amps until you turn the volume up all the way

  • model-t w/ rat is rather sexy

  • pretty death doomy funeral doom like nice

  • Any dirty pedal will sound good through that Godly beast.

  • Dude, sounds like Buried At Sea or some shit. That's totally awesome.

  • i like the sound of the rat the best might have to get one

  • What are your Rat settings and the amp settings? They sound pretty damn close to Sunn O)))......

  • @metaldefender13 Tune your ax to B drop A the results will fallow shortly.

  • God damnit, I would love to buy this thing off you.

  • @InvictvsNox This one's not for sale I am however going to start cloning these amps. I have both power and output transformers built to the same spec's as the original. Also found a dude that will make the big ass chassis for this monster like the original!! These amps swing 150 watts with ease and the one's I'm gonna build will be no exception.

  • @navdave Understandably. I'm at a point in life where I just can't shell out $2.5k for one of these monsters, but I am an electronics engineer and I plan on trying to make these one of the first amps I attempt to build if I can't find a cheap '73-'75 to fix up.

Good luck to the both of us.

  • @InvictvsNox The clones I build will be under $1000.00.

  • @navdave I just subscribed. Keep us posted with video updates when you begin making them? I want to learn how to do it as well, so if you could possibly make some vids of you building it as well, I'd be extremely appreciative. I might have to even buy a chassis off you from your friend if I begin to do it as well!

  • @navdave i wil buy. ill keep in touch with you. i was gonna have verellen build me one but ill see what pans out with ur clones. badass.

  • @navdave Sold. I'd love to pick one up. Are you going to REALLY clone it, or are you going to make slight changes to the layout and design? My only request is that you keep the input/preamp output scheme the same. Also, the ability to go to 2 ohms, but if you can't find a set of trannys with the same taps, I guess 4 will have to do. Visually, what do you plan on doing? Same shit, minimal and rugged? I'm excited to see/hear this. I'm sure you'll be flooded with orders when it comes out...

  • @OfEternalDespair Well believe it or not the one I'm playing in this video Is modified.

So the one's I build will have the same mods as the one in the video.

And yes the OT will have the 2Ω tap.

  • @navdave Holler when you're ready to start pumpin' 'em out. I'll shoot you a deposit...

  • @InvictvsNox $2.5k? I have 2 1974 Sunn Model Ts. I bought my first one in a vintage store for $200. Needed a new power cord and tubes but it's been my main amp ever since. Bought a 2nd off of Ebay for $600. If you look around you can find an original for under $1k.

  • @sixxteenbits for under 1k? you would have to have the luck of a god to find an original model t for that much now. so many people are selling them for the price of a down payment on a car.

  • @xCYNICOUTCASTx Your best bet at this point would be to build one. It would be a hell of a lot cheaper and if you use a 100 watt OT and power transformer suitable for 4 6l6s/2 6550s (because there's no way in hell you'd use el34s) you could make it cheaper to run and easier to use in public. I was considering at one point making a 5 watt version of this with 1 6v6.

  • @MeaQuidemCancer Just another project to add to the list. lol.

  • i'm *really* loving the sound! i read from the older posts it has 4x EH6550s and the cab is loaded with 4x swamp thangs, right? so, which guitar are you using? and what about the rat? is it a new one or an older one? does it have the LM opamp or not? i have a '76 ampeg v4 with 4x TAD 6550s but i can't really take all that low end from it..

  • @nitraus Read the description: Three different distortion pedals played through a 1974 Sunn Model T.

I used My Gretsch Pro Jet for the Rat and G.I. Fuzz pedals and a BC Rich Mocking Bird with the Grunge pedal.

The Rat is a RAT II had it for about 4 years that's all I know. Bought it new from musicians friend. I ain't much for cork sniffin but I know what sounds good glad you dig it bro.

  • I wanna see this with an HM-2!!!

  • good lord. i have a fucking massive boner for that amp

  • Cheers and beers brother damn Marshall geeks eff em!

It's in the works I'm going to start making some Sunn Model T clones

under the Navtone banner built to speck redeye to CRUSH!!!!

  • This head sounds great man, I like the Rat pedal tone the best. I love how fender reissued this head with an almost identical circuit to it's red knob dual showman 100 watt....NOTHING like this original you are playing. Hell, if fender can get away with putting a Sunn badge on that monstrosity, I don't see why all these Marshall nerds get all pissed off when I take the logo off a Crate cab and replace it with a Marshall logo! LOL! Rock on dude, F'in killer riffs!

  • sounded like cult of luna

  • @ReamKovalski Funny never listen to any Cult of Luna.... Which riff?

  • @navdave i can't name you exactly, but you should listen their 2004 and 2008th albums, they're my favorite.

i think you will like them, they really like making doom riffs.

  • Dude, I'm usually absolutely not a fan of distortion pedals, but this is pretty damn good sounding. Very nice.

  • @Mandskull Cheers glad you dig!!

  • @navdave dude i was playin this exact riff and i was searchin a plethra of doom bands to see where i remembered it from and it's yours!!! glad i finally found it.. it's a killer riff man cheers!

  • @SouthernDoom666 Oh damn that's cool glad you like them riffs. Their from the doom band I play in San Joaquin Steamers

  • For those bitching about the distortion pedal....for what I had heard of these types of amps was the fact that because their clean sound is so good they are perfect for taking pedals and pedals turn them into absolute monsters.

  • Fuck when that distortion kicked in I creamed my pants

  • Try it with a boost pedal, you might get that nice meaty overdrive/distortion we all love sunn amps for :D

  • Comment removed

  • @moriondor Yes sir please don't steal its an opening riff for one of my bands songs San Joaquin Steamers.

  • That sounds fat!

  • 0:50 Its...So.....Beautiful.

  • Can you not get any distortion wtthout the pedals??

  • @rorbalzio Yes you can but it's a totally vintage sound. If you like a nice metal sound you need a pedal.

  • sound good, what is the cab? ENGL standard?...looking for a good 412 for one of my Sunn Solarus 1969 (KT-88) and Catalinbred SCOD...it's either Mesa(V-30) or the ENGL (V-60)...on my list...or Sunn 412/612/610 if god will let me me get one...lol!

nice doom riff by the way, I'm a fan! hehe!

  • @chevoton

It's a Marshall 4x12 loaded with Eminence Swamp Thang speakers.

  • @navdave

cool, so I guess a Marshall cab with good speakers can make it...I'm using Emi Wizard 16ohm in a 1969 Sunn 2x12 and pushes like a full 4x12 amazing even the bottom is there?!

  • @chevoton i had a chance to get a sunn 6x12 for 250 but i woulda had to drive for like 4 hours down south.. so i passed it up how i wish i wooda went and got it!!!

  • @SouthernDoom666

yeah 4h is not that bad specially at that price but I don't want to make it worst for you haha.

I know were to get 2 of them in mint condition but 7-8h drive from me...and I will probably do the ride and hang out there since I know the seller already...he just needs to find something to replace those rad beast 1st...but I know one day I will put my 2 Solarus on top of 2 612 in stereo!!! GOD! and later...Model T's! keep looking I see a few of them for sale lately...!

  • @chevoton i'd love to get my hands on a damn model t!!!!... that shit is just sexy!

  • It's all about the RAT, I say. That thing seems to loooooove most Sunn amps that I play it on. The old Thin Font Green Muff sounds killer too.

  • @iorost The reissue head has nothing in comin with the original.

Frankly the reissue head sucks but it could be modded to sound killer.

Don't know what Cathedral used but their tone is great.

  • How is it with a Big Muff?

  • How is it with a Big Muff?

  • @sexnviolence666 Never rocked a Big Muff thru it. Should be as good as the Rat but lil bit more fuzzed out.

  • Alright, someone tell me where I can buy one of these and for how much?!?!

  • @mcface5531 Check Ebay their going for around a grand right now. Got this one in 2005 for $350 oh ya baby!

  • Best amp ever made, hands down.

  • shit man you got way better

    right on

    nav amps rock

  • Proco all the way. First riff is soooooo dark.

  • Perfect tone for some pentagram \o/

  • i like the sound with the Proco better than the Digitech

  • @billnoceros What about the G.I. fuzz?

  • @navdave i hadn't heard the G.I. when i commented. Better than the Digtech but still not as good as the Rat.

  • fuckin hell that 1st part of the video is deff the tone i been hunting for 4 ever i flippin LOVE IT!!!!!!!! specially when you kick the ratt in!!!1 BAD ASS!!!!

  • What are yours speakers?

I try my 90's model T with celestion GT 12 75 and Jensen C12K, it's really sound different.

  • @ptibilly The cab is loaded with four Eminence Swamp Thang speakers.

The Sunn reissue that Fender made in the 90's is a totally different beast

from input jack to output jack they have nothing in common.

  • @navdave are those speakers Squarebacks?

  • @somegrass1987

The cab is loaded with four Eminence Swamp Thang speakers.

  • sounds a lot "smoother" than the 2nd gens like mine. Probably due to the different tone stack and lack of that god dammed mid switch!

  • I've been waiting for this! Amazing dude... I've been trying to find a first gen Model T like this, know anyone who wants to sell one?

  • @somegrass1987 This one's for sale after I die. I'm only one year older than this BAD mofo. Been rocking the same EH6550's for almost 5 years now!!

If 6l6's are a hammer 6550's are a sledge hammer!!
