  • Bizzaro was my favorite...punk ass superman lol

  • This show ruled along with super seven

  • Classic, Loved as a kid. Probably fav version

  • If your a "Wheel of Time" fan do the Legion of Doom remind you of "The Forsaken"?

  • Interesting that half the people in the "Challenge" became role players in "Blackest Night": Lex Luthor-Orange Thaal Sinestro- Yellow and then White Scarecrow-Yellow, Solomon Grundy, Aquaman and Batman-Black Hal Jordan-Green

, Barry Allen-Blue Wonder Woman-Black and then Violet Superman-Black and then White

  • Did Black Manta design the Hall Of Doom? It looks just like his helmet.

  • @Leatherbubba It was inspired by Darth Vader. Look closely.

  • 8 people didnt have a childhood

  • I just watched the second to last episode of Smallville. You get a brief glimpse of some members of the Legion of Doom. I didn't recognize some of them, but I recognized Manta and Captain Cold in full complete costume, looking exactly like they do here!

  • hey, you guys, i bet you haven´t noticed something in second 0:10 captain cold freezes the earth with a small gun LOL, so if he freezes the world, ¿Where is he standing? and how can a small gun, freeze an entire planet, it doesn´t make any sense!! LOL thats why its cool :)

  • awful kool there .. what the saturday tv shows NOWW are just boring to watch..

  • 0:07 that's sooo Darth Vader.

  • 0:49 the L.O.D.'s hideout reminds me of Stewie Griffin's Darth Vader helmet

  • The Legion of Doom? I hope they don't mean the wrestlers, Animal and Hawk w/ thier manager Paul Ellering, lol, just kidding!

  • At :20...Aquaman can fly?!?!?!

  • @davidpcoppola lol XD

  • Absolute classic

  • now this is the superfriends that I used to watch!

  • i watched it on abc in the 1980s there..

  • @teddbear52 Yep me too! wouldn't miss an episode!

  • "Banded together from remote galaxies"? Most of those villains are from Earth.

  • The announcer sounds like lex luthor?

  • This was my favorite show as a kid, I would bounce in front of the TV each time the song came on- and yea I still do and I'm 34!

  • 0:30 "Chief got his tepee back."

  • Actually - this was 37 years ago the "Challenge" was in reruns already by 1980! Great stuff!

  • i used to have to get up hella early to watch this

  • 0:20 to 0:25 fucking epic when they announce the SUPERFRIENDS!!! and the music goes into EPIC mode :p

  • Talk about memories. 30yrs ago, I couldn't wait to get home from school to watch this daily. GI Joe too. I also like Spider-man & The Hulk (1967-70).

  • @gjc82071 Haha! Bill Bixby and Lou Forigno in the hulk. And let's not forget the giant sized GI Joe toys. What memories!:-) along with tears,

  • @qualifiedtowotk I like THAT Hulk too, (the live action series) but I was actually referring to the Marvel Comics Hulk animated series from the 60's. Marvel also had Spider Man, Captain America , Fantastic 4, & Thor. I used to like The Superfriends too.

  • @gjc82071 Oh ok! You're takong it back a little futher. Yea I watched that one and also Spider man "in color". Becouse it was a big deal when you where watching something in color

  • Aquaman with manta tied up by an octopus on the back of a whale just as the music shifts. Dope

  • Oh wow... I used to watch this like almost every day! Man they never make em like they used to!

  • HIPACHE CHIEF ! INAY CHUK..!!

  • God! I can remember watching this when I was a kin in the early 80's.

  • oh man I remember that ship coming out of the water, as well as Superman punching through that rock!, it was more than two decades ago when I saw this!

  • I remember watchin' this in the mid-90's. It was great.

  • You can download Superfriends and other cartoons here:

    superhero-cartoon-network.blogspot

  • How could the Legion have been "banded together from remote galaxies" when they all (execept Sinestro) were from Earth?

  • @chadpruitt1, you forgot Brainiac and Bizarro.

  • Which part of Earth is Bizarro from?

  • Lex Luthor's lab

  • he is from Bizarro world

  • Bizarro world was a planet in another dimension exactly like earth only evil was considered good and good was considered evil.

  • @mrrjenkims He's not.

  • Why was Sinestro made with white skin in this series? It was red in the comics.

  • @gedias1 Artist's mistake or intentional. In the intro and in some eps it appears to be slightly pinkish.

  • I think that in the legion of doom would have Penguim, Joker, Darkseid and Mxyzptlk.

  • The Penguin would have nothing to offer on a cosmic level. The Joker would be too uncontrollable. Darkseid and Mxyzptlk would never take orders from Luthor.

  • @Xerock, Darkseid would definitely have been above such a group, but any character you can think of can be written as "cosmic level" or "controllable" enough. Writing made Luthor and Joker two men who can make it ugly in just about any arena you can possibly come up with...believably at that.

  • Sorry, but its Joker's unpredictability and total disregard for all life (including his own at times) that makes him far too dangerous in such a group - especially one bent on universal conquest.

  • Superman + Batman + Robin have enough enemies. Might as well throw in those 3 clowns from Superman II.

  • Coolest opening EVER!!

  • in 2011 there is going to be a superfreind movie

  • are you sure? that will be awesome!!!!

it might be an x-men format.

  • Was Black Manta ever seen without his mask?

  • I don't think Black Manta on the show was shown without his mask. But in the comics he was and he's a black man.

  • @rtds9fan He is a black man who was shanghaied by a mean captain when he was a teenager. He was treated very cruelly and sexually abused by the captain and his crew and from this grew an intense hatred of the sea and anything connected to it.

  • @FangoChris No

  • Amazed they got in Bizzaro because he's always been more of nusciance than a threat.

Exception Being ALex' Ross's take on the character where he let his actions speak louder than his words, and nearly killed Big Blue along with Parasite, Metallo, and Solomn Grundy.

  • Solomon Grundy want pants too!

  • I agree,SIKE01!This season paid homage the most to the comic books as opposed to where they were usually fighting mad and greedy scientists. They had to gear it towards our age group, mind you.

  • man i remember all this shit

  • Why would you want to conquer the Universe? It seems like it would be more trouble than it would be worth.

  • Not that I have anything against it but at 0:20 since when does Aquaman fly?

  • and Wonder Woman.

  • wonder woman started flying sometime in the 80s. It was a pretty bad development. Makes her plane mostly useless(they've reintroduced it), and it makes her more of a super man clone.

  • :35 "Bitch, Where's Mah Money?!!!"

  • Anywhere to watch these free on the internet videos?

  • EENYUCK CHUCK

  • Solomon Grundy!! love that dude

  • "Solomon Grundy!! love that dude"

Yeah, I read up on the comic book origins of Solomon Grundy ...

Solomon Grundy was born on a Monday ... is one of the bits of trivia I picked up... from reading about this character.

  • look at comments on your channel dumbass, if nothing you say is constructive then shut the fuck up

  • What a wicked good idea. LBF522 is totally correct. a movie would be awesome.

  • I would love to see a movie of this show whether animated or not. Or even a remake. Love the theme music.

  • "Solomon Grundy want pants, too!" (Sorry. Couldn't resist.)

  • When was this released and how long did it go? I remember this as a kid in the 70's....

  • The Superfriends aired from 1973 to 1985; Challenge, however, only aired from 1978-79.

  • The giant icicles "hanging" from the earth were interesting considering there is no gravity in space.

  • everything is possible in cartoon.. hehehe

  • I loved this show more than anything back then! I always wanted to be The Flash. If they made a movie today with all of these characters both good and bad, it would rock!

  • ROFL, Scarecrow and Captain Cold.

  • @InfiniteTomerase Speaking of Scarecrow, how come he never used fear gas on "Challenge of the Superfriends"? The producers could had done an episode in which the Legion of Doom lures the Superfriends into a trap, and Scarecrow squirrts them with fear gas. The legion of Doom would have no trouble taking over the world, as the Superfriends would be too scared and helpless to stop them.

  • @Girardifan Fear gas seems kind of paltry compared to a time conveyor, aliens from Venus, a deadly crystal, a dream machine, mind controlling a hidden city of super intelligent gorillas or an evil old hag who contacts a demon who give you the power to control zombies.

  • @taurusman26 Fear gas might seem lame, but it would had been more effective than some of the other weapons that the Legion of Doom used. Besides, the producers could had done a scene in which the Legion of Doom takes a frightened Wonder Woman prisoner and the rest of the Superfriends are too scared and helpless to do anything about it.

  • @Girardifan The fear gas had been used before by Dr. Fright in 1977 (the year before COTS). It wasn't used again until 1985.

  • the twins were gay

  • On eof the better seasons. Best of the early few. I enjoyed SUPERFRIENDS: THE LEGENDARY SUPER POWERS SHOW about the same as this one.

  • Is it any suprise that the Hall of Doom looks like Darth Vader's helmet????

  • why no chewie it's no suprise at all the hall of doom looks like darth vader's helmet at all.

  • Nope. Vader has become the icon of evil. There have been endless rip offs.

  • hey richardrgp how would you like your teeth in your mouth still or knocked down your thownth!

  • the cartoon was awesome but they should really change the name

  • they did. It's called Justice League

  • because pixair the man who called it the justice league of america because he was a fan of marior leauge bacesball so that's why the name was channed from justice soctey to the justice league of anerica any more qustions?

  • My brother keeps callin me to play this for him over the phone, and he gets all teary eyed..lol. Ole 36 year old butt!! lol

  • don't be too hard on your 36 year old denah son he just emshounler that's all.

  • i've enjoyed this video ever since it came out on T. V. on Saturday's i love it ! 3:30 am 9-27-th-07 :)

  • robin isn't weak he can fight the batman trined him yougreek.

  • Classy.

  • Great comment for a kid's cartoon especially when kids read these retard.

  • a classic cartoon for all cartoons

  • Fave ep was the one with the zombies storming the Legion of Doom headquarters!

  • saturday mornings baby- a huge bowl of frosted flakes-heaven

  • Dash, brings back memories from the past. The 70's were cool- especially watching the Superfriends on Saturday mornings in Mexico...I never missed it...I especially enjoyed the fact several minorities were featured as superheroes

  • This brings me back memories too, back when it was on Cartoon Network.

  • @lupinvash3 Cartoon network?! I used to watch this every Saturday on ABC, waaaay back.

  • @grosskopf2 and in between the superfriends and the next show....school house rock......VERB, that's what happening. I can take a noun and bend it...VERB, that's what happening. OR conjunction junction what's your function...Oh the days of great cartoons.

  • @grosskopf2 me too

  • @lupinvash3 I remember it long before Cartoon Network!

  • this is a COOL video!!!!!!

  • okay. Superfriends? Name is crap.

  • You ever notice that some supefriends are named according to their nationality? Apache Chief, Native American, Samarai, Asian, and El Dorado, Latino/Chicano.

  • That's because the show's creators noticed that every single original hero on the show was white, but yet they never added the Martian Manhunter.

  • I have a crush on Apache Chief.

  • I miss this show. It was one of my absolute favorites growing up. I was around 4 when it came out.

  • I loved this show.

  • The teams should have been more evenly matched.

Flash vs. Prof. Zoom, Capt. Marvel vs. Black Adam, Batman vs. Man-Bat.etc.

  • By far the best superfriends cartoon. 1978 was the year. I was in front of the TV every saturday and sunday morning (they showed it every sat and sun in my area). One of the highlights of my life at 12.

  • I grew up with this show...I miss oldschool super hero shows. Supposedly their too "violent" for kids today...which is sad...they don't make them like they used too.

  • Apache Chief and Giganta would make a nice couple, if they weren't enemies.

  • grOW APPACHIE CHIEF! GROW!

  • i love the superfriends

cartoons was the bomb back then

  • And how interesting that the Legion of Doom HQ looks almost exactly like Darth Vader's head.

  • and how interesting that the giant Native American is chasing a giant red head and they are both wearing short skirts, wonder what the people are doing?

Running away or getting a super zoom camera.

  • To this day I still say Inuk-Chuk... *sigh*

  • cool stuff, they can't put it all out on dvd quick enough..

  • THE BEST SEASON OF THE SUPER FRIENDS AND ONE OF THE GREATEST CARTOONS OF ALL-TIME!!!
