He built it up to the climactic moment. I thought it was pretty clever. But if you already figured this out after you posted the comment and face palmed than I know the feeling.

In Iliada, Hector was afraid of Achilles, because he knew that Achilles was invencible warrior like a god. Paris killed Achilles because the god Apolo used your power against him. Hector was a good warrior, but not wasnt immortal and invencible like achilles.

Can you tell me the work, the chapter and the verses? In the Iliad, to which you refered, Achilles is ONLY son of Peleus (he is called Πηλείδης-Peleus' son and all the people call him thus). I am pretty sure, though, that also in no other work he is said to be son of Ares. You have to read mythology better.

First, I am not a professor of history, I am a researcher in the field (mithology). And Achilles is son of Ares metaphorically, my dear. You need to research more about the mythology before you want to play the smartass. Ares was present at the birth of Achilles, and drew his destiny as the greatest warrior of the ancient world. Iliad and Odyssey are not the only sources of Greek mithology.

In the Iliad he did chase him for a while but that was because Hector was afraid. Achilles also fought a god the same day he fought hector. He was fighting the river god skamander and was willing to die because he had a death wish after patroclus died. He noticed hector in the distance and quickly changed his sites. Hector was like "o shit" then in an instant Achilles ripped the life right out of him. pure awesome.
