  • cool, so what do u plan to do wit her once shes restored??? love to maybe get a look at her sum day

  • She'll be a cracker mate

  • Yeah she certainly will! We have some great plans for her when she's painted up over the next few weeks (fitting a full strobe system and 2-tone/electronic sirens). Already have most the equipment for her (portable pump / 20+ lengths of hose / BA sets / RTA extraction eqpt)

  • a lot of appliances around the country are quite old, I'm from meath and the central station has a reserve 1982 appliance, (renaullt dodge timoney) still see it knocking around town now and again

  • 1982 and still on the run? You think thats old?? :-) There is a 1964 Land Rover still in use in Tinahely, Co. Wicklow!! Now thats value for money!! :-D

  • Nice!

Funny thing is that their is even older fire engines still in service in the Dublin Fire Brigade (I saw an '85 one not too long ago).

  • Cheers!

Some of the older appliances you mentioned are specialist units (TL's/ET's/FoT's/boat carriers etc) etc and they get such little use compared to class B tenders (like this) that do much more work hence the class B's get withdrawn and the specials stay in service!

  • Do we still by our fire engines 2nd hand from the UK these days?
