  • who told the blond woman she could sing?

  • Idiots. The blond woman says "Merrilee Rush" on 5:52 to 5:53. Does anyone have any doubts this is Merrilee Rush now?

  • Ok, I'm just wondering... who the hell goes to a watch a concert and misses the song due to talking a bunch of sh!t? Have some respect for the singer who is busting her butt to sing the song and STFU! People in the audience talking really messed this up for me. I came here to hear them play/sing.

  • I once played in a band with the guy who DID write "I love Rock & Roll" (he wrote it for Joan on tour with her.) an uncommonly nice person and a great musician/guitar player, Alan Merrill - the son of a Grammy winning jazz singer, Helen Merrill. Alan also wrote a song that worked well with our band called "Troubleshooter." (The band was Al Friedman's "Troubleshooters," in NYC around the early 90's.)

  • Sorry but when they hit the chorus it sounds like a couple of drunk broads singing in a kareoke bar.

  • @lasktguy I think it might be the broad holding the camera whose chirping like a dying dog.

  • @weaselshark oh okay, well I'm glad it's not Marilee.

  • Shut the fu@k up and sing the Goddam song!

  • ouch ouch not good

  • Why did she ruin her own song. Who cares about bathroom naughty pictures. Yeah this song is about telling a guy you can have me for your pleasures tonight. But it's beautiful and sincere. Lady you are so f/'d up stay home next time you want to make a fool of yourself, and leave your side kick too!

  • If you are gonna do a song for all to see, by all means, be sincere. She's off key drunk, and obviously not sincere in her actions. This is very dis appointing.

  • please up the song so dats okey 4 germany 2 play :((( the rights.....sux

    make a trickk

  • The 68 version is one of my all time favorites. In this video , they are having fun. Good to see Merrilee.

  • These are not the turnabouts. Merrilee has half a bag on here, too.

  • merrilee was fine here! the backup singer was ummm off a little off and over the top. haha.

  • Ok, it's a little sloppy and the blond on the right is a little out of control. It's also steering a bit closer to the style of the PP Arnold version (not necessarily a bad thing). It's still better than Juice Newton's remake.

  • Merrilee's vocals didn't make her version definitive; it was the instrumental production.

  • Atrocious

  • Merrilee still has it ,she is great, the back up singer is questionable but not too terribly bad but believe Merrilee pulled it through just fine.

  • Merrilee still has it ,she is great.

  • with all respect, I must say this is an utter mess! I loved the original growing up, but man, I quess some things do not remain the same. I understand she is older now, but that backup singer is aweful, and over singing, and out of pitch. merillee should do this alone. atho merrille looks great for her age. the melody and softness of the song is missing here.

  • Juice newton had the best version of this song Bar none

  • Her voice still kinda sounds the same aha

  • too much alcohol man!!

  • Merrilee, time to go on tour and come out to the Philadelphia. You sound and look great!

  • Yup, that's Barry. The band is The Daily Flash. If you live in the Northwest, catch one of their gig!

  • @acoug The band that did "Jack of Diamonds"?

  • ...that's, Barry Curtis of the Kingsmen on lead guitar!

She hasn't performed with the Turnabout's since about '67, has had hundreds of different players and pickup bands, back her up over the last 40 forty years!

  • How much did she pay the audience to watch this!!!!! Merrilee What Happened to you?? I had you ranked on a pedestal with the late Skeeter Davis as one of the all time greatest women of music!!!!!!

  • It was kind of an emotional night for her. Jini Dellaccio's 93rd BD party. She took those wonderful pics of Merrilee back in the day. Lots of old friends in attendance and everybody was having a lot of "fun..."!

  • I was fortunate to see her perform "Angel of the Morning" back in 1981 in Seattle and she was awesome along with her band. She still has what it takes and her voice proves it! Her name will go down in rock history as one of the great performers.

  • Magic! Great to see she is still rocking on.

  • What side of 60 years old would she be by now? Great video!

  • I think Merrilee still looks pretty good, and sounds pretty good, too!

  • Let me clarify. When I stated that Merrilee " owns " this Song, I neither meant she wrote it or was the first to record it. She is the one that got the big Hit out of it shot it to the Top & appeared on National TV shows with it (Johnnny Cash, etc) & became a National name due to this song. She "owns" it in the same sense that Joan Jett ' owns ' the song " I Love Rock'n Roll " although Joan neither wrote nor was she the first to record " I. L. R.'n R.". Merrilee and " Angel " are forever linked.

  • She still got it - what a load of laughs and killer attitude. Also - Merrilee did not write the song - it was Chip Taylor - Jon Voight's brother and Angelina Jolie's uncle who wrote it. He also wrote Wild Thing and I think a funny songwriter's lament called "It's a Hundred and One in Cashbox - in Billboard it can't be found and it's number 18 in the record world ratings and going down..."

  • Are you flipping kidding me ! OF COURSE this is Merrilee's song. Shot it into the National Top Ten back in 1968. Got on various National TV shows when - at the time - TV did not want to acknowledge rock, hoping that it would go away ( with the exceptions of Ed Sullivan and Am.Bandstand). Merrilee has been Rocking Seattle area audiences for 50 years now, we can only hope for another 50. As for the Turnabouts ? - most have scattered to the far winds.

  • Original release date was in August of 1967, by EVIE SANDS. Her label folded 2 weeks after and everybody jumped on it, Merilee being the first. Weird Al could've had a hit with it, the song was that powerful. It was written by Chip Taylor (Wes Voight). Check Evie's website and you'll see.

  • Merrilee is anything but an old woman - and it IS, after all, HER song.

  • that is merrilee lol and she still plays here in seattle

  • Is Merilee kinda loaded here?

  • Yep. SHE is the lady. She played in Oak Harbor Washington at the Roller Barn. AND she ROCKED the BARN!! Thank you Merrilee for an awesome memory.....my Dad owned the place and we loved her....

  • This lady IS Merrilee..... Not sure of the whereabouts of the Turnabouts these days.

  • This lady did the absolute best cover of this song. Period! Juice was good but this original cover was the one that got me.........where are the "turnabouts"?
