i started off in music on the recorder. i did it in the school of music and learned the treble clef for 5 yrs. i didnt like the instrument and gave up and took on bass guitar which i love. i learned it with "tab" instead of the clef and now when i try to read bass clef i get very confused. doh! this has been helpful though because i didnt know which finger placements were which when trying to read bass clef so i'll work away with my new knowlege. Thanks Casey!!
@tonybaa83 same here except ive been playing guitar for 5ish years and flute/Saxaphone(s) throughout as well all in treble i play bass and now im confused as fuck ._.
It can limit you in reading other players music. But after listening to few persons who completed various music courses and have been tought how to read music I discovered they are much slower when it comes to improvising and composing their own movements. Anyway - tabs show some details you can't find in notes - when speaking about guitar. Everything is useful - one just needs to balance wisely.
Haha, I used to play piano and learned alot about notes.
But te bass clef is very confusing to me. I got a bass, and Im pretty good at reading tablatures, but Im not sure if Im always gona have those so Im trying to learn the notes... :)
very interesting gota tell you though i'm still lost. i play by ear and feel but i really do wanna learn how to read bass kines as well as write bass lines

Mixing tabs and music? 0-o
That's hard, for I was in band before I learned guitar or bass, so that's hella confusing loo.
