  • Where are the new demos annicaandchris i cant find them.

  • one thing i notice is how many people will say "this other style is better" or "the techniques i saw are impractical". don't lose sight of what you are looking for when learning a martial art. peace of mind and body, then self defense. someone who takes krav maga or tae kwon do or shou shu must learn how to punch or how to block before throwing a punch or block in defense. look for reason in why you must move this way or step that way. it must be practiced many times before it can be effective

  • krav maga is better

  • weapon before body? do you mean caring concealed weapons? or the body's natrual weapons before the target...also have you heard of the cobra whipping in moore's. (say coiling cobra)

  • Weapons before body refers to Shou Shu's circular body motion which keeps your weapon, such as fist or chop, in front of your body and it moves with your body to increase power.

  • uh-oh. the shou shu vampires hate it when you question whether or not shou shu is the greatest art ever.

Granted, I believe it is the most sophisticated art ever practiced (jiu jitsu being a close 2nd), it is largely impractical because of its sophistication. The best thing about shou shu is its principles of weapon before body, solid footwork and quick kicks. They are all practical, solid tools for fighting.

  • me being a noob to the martial arts i EXPECT every black belt to be handle a certain amount of qeustions about their art and techs.

if a person techs you how to and not with the why's ,what if and even ifs

  • in the moore's art do they just teach you the defensive techs the how's to and the why's and do they teah you can use the the same self defense techs for any situtation with out changing the tech very much?

or do they give you a blank look..like uhh...yeah you could do that?(not really knowing)

also how much does it cost a month for moore;s classes?

  • They teach defensive and offensive techs and yes theres tons of variations for the techs. Heck, with small changes, most of the crane material can be done with knives or swords. It's the real deal. Contact them about prices.

  • my sisters dad owns this place. idk if theres only one but the one in hayward california. =p

  • Great martial art for exercise, although I found the majority (not all) of the techniques largely impractical. Rehearsed, multi-step techniques are difficult to make work in a fluid street fight situation, e.g. Five Swords... Mantis and the Mongoose... Twisting Cobra and others. Great, dedicated teachers though, no doubt. There's value in every martial art... just depends what you're looking for.

  • Get your black belt in every martial art and tell me your opinion on this one

  • Surely 2 years training in this one was sufficient to express my opinion.

  • 2 years? You haven't even started learning Shou Shou. Da Shifu Sr. always said, at 1st Black, now you're ready to learn.

  • Whoa, I love the environment. All the screaming and people going "OOooooh" in the background. -- gets me all pumped up for a riot :) Nice vid, guys.

  • im 14 right now.. i quit 2 years ago.. when i was 12 i was low green =].. very stupid descion to quit.. i use to go to the place in hayward any1 go ther??

  • LOL i just watched this video again, they throw punches the same way soccer players do... PLEASE no take this martial art seriously

  • i just got my blue at camp. Shou shu rocks

  • looks like some power ranger bullshit... never try this stuff in a street fight

  • That was a fun demo. I was flipped through the air at the begining.......then flipped again in the middle.......then at the end. Awsome

  • i used to do shou shu....i quit twice....regretted it both times

  • I'm a shou shu purple belt

  • This looks like the most killer martail art i wanna train in this style.

  • that was inspiring,*applause*!

  • Looks good. Is it akin to stuntman training for film/tv? Bit sick of the whole 'on-wire' stuff for rehearsed fighting scenes, so cool to see a different style of performance.

  • kool i do shou shu And was at that demo

  • I used to take shou shu and miss it. Low brown belt when I left. It is bad ass though, but also went on to do brazil jiu jitsu which is needed not just stand up. The only Shifu's that I still talk to are Shifu Rossi and Taharra.

  • Someone needs to submit the demo video from this weekend! :D

  • Yea because Twe-kwon-useless is known for it's ability to take on well....nobody. I tend to think it's amusing that once i took tyw kwon do and then took shou shu, and by the time i was a high purple i owned my second degree blackbelt former instructor.

  • The 2nd demo was awesome. The First was fun to watch. Good times.

  • i swear u turlock people is freakin raw. good job to all the shifus and thier hard work at the camp
