  • So I suppose that these clocks run for straight 400 days? Never seen or heard of them, looks impressive, though! What size spring and gear reduction is there to help, apart from the slow moving pendulum, this beauty run for so long?

  • @MrKaddan The mainspring is similar to or smaller than many 8 day clock mainsprings. There are 3 gears between the mainspring barrel and center wheel, so that the mainspring unwinds about 4 1/2 turns in one year. Some of these clocks will run a full 400 days, and some don't make it for quite a year.

  • @Clockhistory And how many turns do you have to put on the spring to wind it from completely unwound to fully wound? 

  • @MrKaddan About 5 1/2 or 6 turns.
