at the 2004 Minnesota game, this play was shown on the video screens and the sideline angle was played for a longer amount than was featured on the Schembechler Years video.
It's a shame Michigan hasn't officially released more of the stuff from their vast archives, especially in the case of older footage being on a master tape and not on a multiple generation loss vhs.
The Linkster was at this game in 1979, when Anthony Carter, a freshman from Riviera Beach Suncoast H.S. in Florida... one of my h.s. rivals, beat Indiana on the final play. Hoosier head coach Lee Corso has never liked Michigan since. His team had just tied the game with a minute to go, 21-21.
Actually, that isn't a tuba. It's a Jeep horn that had once belonged to General George Patton.
In the '70s, Michigan radio announcer Bob Ufer was fond of comparing Bo Schembechler to Patton. Patton's nephew heard this on one of the broadcasts and offered Ufer the horn which he'd inherited from his uncle.
From the "Big One" (WW2) to the "Big House" (Michigan Stadium), that little horn saw a lot of action. :-)
If michigan hadn't scored after a quarter or so, he would Honk the horn to break the ice. Or if they were in a scoring drought. He would honk it to give them luck.
Woolfolk (call me Butch, don't call me harold) was about to be tackled in bounds the play before and did a rugby throw 10 yards to the side lines to stop the clock on the "fumble".
It is interesting that #21 on Indiana actually caused Carter to stumble on about the 20 yd line but he kept his balance and took it to the house to pull a win fom a tie (no overtime) that makes it a great play IMO.
think of what ufer's blood pressure must have been lol

I remember being in my bedroom when this happened. Bob Ufer was at his best. My parents thought I lost my mind because I was going crazy.

I have this video! It was called The Schembechler Years. I looked for this to see if it was available on DVD, but was unable to find it.

I forget the exact numbers but I believe Ufer honked the horn 3 times after TD's, 2 times after field goals and once after PAT's and safeties.
If it was a big game and we scored though, I think Ufer would go crazy and honk more.

I wish I could buy one for my High school
