  • UNA OBRA MAESTRA!

  • How cruel people can be.

  • This ending made my cry my eyes out. This is the one movie where a character died has hit me so hard Bjork did such an outstanding job in this movie.

  • If I was warden, I`m just hanging it because there`s other prisoner waiting for next hanging and I`m sure the witness don`t like stay very long just just to see they crying before death.. They just want to see life person turns to dead person so they can record the evidence and send report to ministry, take drive, go home take a bath and dinner with family and kids..

  • But she didn't get to finish the next to last song...

  • Goosebumps and tears.

  • europeans are good for this shit ,killing people asshole can not live in peace.

  • @diggyu You know, I thought Belarus was the only European country to execute convicts; who knew that it was still alive and well in the European country of WASHINGTON STATE.

  • @Kitten51181 European Americans!

  • "Selma... R u ok? -_- what do you think! Duh she is not ok. She is about to be hanged.

  • This is the only thing that isn't real that ever made me cry (above the age of about 6)

  • hang that bitch ffs

  • This scene killed me...

  • @WaterHead96 I agree.

  • this film was shown in one of my sociology classes. i remember the whole class was shocked and speechless. this scene haunts me until today. it looks real and convincing,

  • @Devilsmileyz especially that it has nothing to do with reality

  • i have never cried harder at any movie scene, the only other time i cried so had was when i had some tragedy in my own life...this movie is amazing.

  • damn straight this is one American who's glad to see him get the same fate those 3192 on the morning of September 11th 2001 HE deserved that bullet to the head Go Navy just like his buddy Momar Gudauphi wo learned the same lesson killing innocent people for fun is wrong

  • @MrBill19641 Does the 130 thousand(the lowest credible estimate) that U.S. and coalition forces killed in Iraq and Afganistan fall under the lesson that killing innocent people for fun is wrong?

  • Is this a true story?

  • I'm such a huge fan of Bjork but I've struggled to bring myself to watch the film just yet. It's bad enough just watching this scene but I think with the rest of the film before it, the sadness of the conclusion must be even worse.

  • @SongBillong It is but it's worth watching.

  • @greendayfecer I actually bought the DVD since my last comment and I've watched it. I agree - it's definitely worth watching and I thought it was absolutely brilliant. I was an emotional wreck from start to finish but it really is one of the most absorbing films I've ever seen.

  • i went through so many emotions in this film.

  • Why did they want to kill her in the first place????

  • Why does that lady ask you ok? U will be fine! When she's goin to die

  • We live in a fucked up world

  • llore como quinceañera con esa parte!!! :(

  • cowboyz and their law(one world)

  • No one should ever be given the death sentence no matter who they our what they've done! The US citizens who enjoy the killing of these people are barbarians! like if you think the death sentence should be abolished :'(

  • @nsgfilms4u

Try explaining that to a person who had somebody dearly stolen from them because of some punk with a gun. The only problem with the death penalty is that so many more deserve it and we don't use it enough, because spineless politicians lack the resolve to see it through. Barbarians? Americans? What are you, ignorant Eurotrash? Middle Eastern? Genocide and condemnation defines your entire shitty continent. Some places still have a death penalty, but it's just Americans? Fuck you.

  • @unemployedxninja dude, no offense or anything but you shouldn't insult someone just because they oppose the death penalty. I'm doing a research paper on the 8th amendment and it is about how i think the death penalty goes against the 8th amendment. just please don't say mean things to people just because of what they believe in.

  • @unemployedxninja There is no bigger genocide at the world history than the one Americans commited against Indians and Hispanic people, Europe was and will be the world´s most civilised place.

It is a barbaric habit liking to see people die painfully, but generally people in US like to play Gods.

Death penalty should be abolished everywhere around the world, no human is allowed to kill another human as a punishment! Countless innocent people have died before their innocence was proven!

  • @geniousboyGR

Congratulations on being a complete fucking moron. There is no bigger Genocide in world history than the one that America has committed on the Native Americans? All evidence pointing to the contrary: By chance, have you heard of that thing in Europe that happened called the Holocaust? Joseph Stalin? Mao Zedong? Kim Jong? Rwanda? The fucking Ottoman Empire? It's obvious you haven't. Maybe when you aren't so busy with your head up your ass, you can look at a history book.

  • @unemployedxninja

I'm Greek, do you really think that I don't know the genocides in Europe and Ottoman Empire? 1 million greek people were killed and 3-4 million people were violently forced to leave their homes, after they were raped or hit, but the biggest genocide in history is the one of American Indians and Hispanic people, 20-30 millions of people.

I consider the US uncivilised, just like any other place on Earth where they haven't abolished the death penalty, an antidemocratis habit

  • @geniousboyGR

Evidently not. Seeing as this if you're willing to ignore those but place America on some grand pedestal as being some massive cesspool of evil. Yes, several Native Americans died. There's no denying that fact. Funny how you don't acknowledge the fact that a majority of those deaths were attributed to several diseases they've never been exposed to rather than actual killing. Keep spouting ignorance though. I implore you.

  • @geniousboyGR

They died. It's finished. The world has moved on. What do you want this generation to do? Apologize for the murders of their ancestors, that they had no part of? I doubt they'd be as inclined to do that as you would apologizing for all ancient greeks being pompous, boy-loving pedophiles. Uncivilized for bringing criminals to justice? And what is your alternative? We put them in time out, and sternly explain to them what they did wrong? I'll take being a barbarian over being twat.

  • @geniousboyGR HEY NOW BACK ON UP! The U.s. may not have the best national record but THATS GONIN A LITTLE TOO FAR. I AM AN AMERICVAN A DAMN PROUD OF IT! Our country jyust like yours has seen it's fair share of t5ragedies DOES SEPTEMBER 11TH 2001 RING ANY BELLS??? AND YES I AM YELLING! 3192 lost their lives that day bc some crazy ass terrorists thought it was funny to drive 747's into buildings... NOW WHO IS UNCIVILIZED?! Just to let u know thats a battle that is still being fought!

  • @geniousboyGR

Maybe you'll actually learn something useful, besides sucking Europe's cock. People in the us like to play gods? Based on what conclusive evidence? Some baseless opinion you more than likely ripped out of your asshole, because you're a drooling retard? People are all the same no matter where you go. Sorry to shatter your grandiose illusion of superiority. Both are ignorant, misinformed, narcissistic, oblivious, mentally inept pieces of shit. You're a fine example of that.

  • @geniousboyGR wasn't it Europe hanging people in the gallows before America was even discovered?.....i agree with @unemployedxninja

  • OMG : ,(

  • i blame all the inbreeding in the states for their lack of ability to evolve to a civilized nation, only savages would still carry out the death penalty

  • her acting is perfect in this scene! it feels very raw and extremely emotional.

  • I hate Bjork's voice and would have pulled the lever on her well before that awful song started.

  • @davidgrahamscott oh. bye, you can leave now.

  • omg lars really must hate bjork and all the great women - that is how I explain some of his movies...

  • @painsey I agree totally

  • @mattbod no one really cares?

  • no executions in Canada, or any other civilized country

  • :'(

  • aw this part always makes me cry......good thing bjork isnt really dead. haha

  • what are they tie her down on

  • This video- with the blaring title "DEATH SENTENCE" was the third in the suggestions for the TRAILER of Dancer In The Dark. Way to ruin the movie... -_-

  • @Fueledbychapstick We do not watch film to know what happens...we watch film to see how it happens. imo...

  • I always cry!!! I just love when she star to sing!!!

  • Are you okay?---possibly the stupidest question to ask.

  • Look, not to sound insensitive or anything, but take it like a man.

  • The hangman was doing a very non-professional job.

  • I didnt cry, but i was in shock for while

  • Typical of American executions where they drag out the agony with last words and reading of warrant etc. If you look at the film Pierrepoint about the UK's last hangman, you will see that it took less than a minute from the executioner coming in to the person dying.

  • @mattbod as a mtter of fact, the UK has almost a milennium long history of executions. the ones in the tower of london for example were among the most professional in the world. is it something to be proud of you could ask.

  • I cried at this part.

  • @KaosandPurdue so did i ... if you dont cry, you're not human

  • @KaosandPurdue i laughed

  • This is one of the most disturbing scenes I have ever witnessed in a film. Uncomfortable from beginning to end. Brilliant film making.

  • 0_o

  • I still don't see the point of this? The description is fucking vague, why the fuck is she hanged? I didn't see the movie.. Good acting for sure.

The death penalty is medievel and deranged. This goes to show why. Goddamn idiotic bullshit.

  • @Lexcoaster She was hanged for murder. (A friend of hers wanted to commit suicide, but couldn't go through with it so he got her to do it for him)

  • @Lexcoaster I'm confused. You say you didn't see the movie, yet don't know why she was hanged? So see the movie & you'll know why she was hanged.

And this wasn't a movie to "soap box up" about capital punishment opinions. I suggest you see the film for what it is: a musical & art. It's not a film about the death penalty.

  • @Trekker1801 I know what the movie is about, I've read the synopsis, but I'm afraid I'll skip this one, since I'm not into musicals.

  • @Lexcoaster - I wouldn't really call it a musical. Yes, it has musical numbers, but they were utilized differently than the typical musical format.

  • @Lexcoaster Well, it is amusical, but i've never see a musical like this...

  • @Lexcoaster Bjork is one of my favorite artists, but I was blown away when I watched her performance. I'm not a fan of musicals myself, but this is comepletely different, it's not like Sound of Music or anything cheesy like that. The filming was done well, the acting was great, it's a very profound story about a woman losing her vision......so she goes to extremes to make sure her son is cared for which lands her in trouble. It's definitely well worth it to watch.

  • @liquidyou No sorry, this is not my type of film.

  • @Lexcoaster No need to apologize, no one is forcing you to watch it, it was only a suggestion. Keep watching Transformers and films with Vin Diesel. Just kidding : )

  • @liquidyou I've watched the trailer and this bit, it just seems too pretentious to me. :) But I'll leave the blockbuster actionflicks to teenage boys.

  • @Lexcoaster How is this pretentious?

  • @terepotere I'ts a matter of perception. It doesn't feel honest to me, the entire vibe of this scene doesn't. It feels pretentiously 'sad' and also very pedantic.

Just get over it people, I don't like the film. Not at all. And yes, I've now actually watched it. I'ts not my thing. Although I like Bjork's singing.
