The US ending to this episode is actually awful IMHO: "How long do you think Henry will stay in the tunnel?", even though I'm a US resident I prefer the UK one: "But I think he deserved his punishment." Also "For Always and always and always" is much more awesome than "Till you are ready to come out of the tunnel."
@EmeryAndEmilyFan2344 I don't think Americans would like those harsh sentences to be in the episode, I do like both of Ringos narrations but I can see why they would change it.
Plus I read a Amazon's reader's review of the Percy Takes The Plunge DVD and she said it was a bit harsh that Percy said,"Stupid board!"
lol but im just saying why not give him an actual name, and i dont even watch the UK versions, i just think they should give him an actual name rather than that
They give his name as "Sir Topham Hatt" in this very episode. But Ringo also said, "they call him 'the Fat Controller' ".
And in "Pop Goes the Diesel" in both versions, Duck tells Diesel that he is to be called "Sir Topham Hatt".
In fact, the Rev. W. Awdry only referred to him by name in his book "Duck and the Diesel Engine". In the original "The Sad Story of Henry", Rev. Awdry only refers to STH as "a fat director".
people seem to have a soft spot for engines who get shut up or otherwise punished. A lot of people (including myself) want to see smudger back. I wonder if people thought it was sad when james got shut up after the bootlace incident
Wow i'm I the only one who noticed how awful the editing is with Ringo's lines?

I don't care what any one says, Ringo is the best narrator.
Also has any one besides me really liked the end music at 4:20 that they play before the nameplates?
Thanks so much for putting these up. It makes me wanna go back to being three, sitting in front of the tv and listening to Ringo.

@xTheProskater19x Yeah, this has been one of my most favorite Ringo Starr narrations of all time.

hi again, Ringo and George Carlin were the best narrators in Thomas.
MariPamJam 1 year ago 2
@MariPamJam You can say that again, Ringo and George Carlin are the ones.

Why would they have Thomas try to push Henry out of the tunnel? They should just get Gordon to do it. He's just as strong as Henry.

@dylanchaput54 i get your point of view, its like this: a L.N.E.R A3 pacific vs a L.M.S Black 5, so who is going to win?
MrTrainboy1 1 year ago
@dylanchaput54 That'd be the logical thing to do...

My autistic son loves this episode. He reenacts it with Henry trapped in the tunnel.
Thank you for sharing this

I think I like this version better than the UK version.
The British version is more spiteful and reprimanding.

Personally, I think the UK narration was the better way to go.

Well, no one's arguing with you.

and Sir Topham Hat is an actual name, rather than calling him something disrepectful like "the fat controller"
playoffexpert1 1 year ago
TFC is just a nickname. And if he is OK with it, I don't see why you shouldn't call him that (unless you mean it disrespectfully, of course).
Besides, if you really want to disrespect him, you call him "Fat Hat".

Also, I didn't mean your comment, aceattorney1989, I meant Sir Topham Hatt's reason.

Oh Yeah, by the way, when I first ever saw this, I cried a lot. I'm a big Henry fan.

i have no idea, but that ain't a good reason, he should be a team player.

Does Sir Topham Hatt have medical problems and that could be the reason why he can't pull or push?

That is a cool episode I ever seen about Henry, ThomastheUSepisodes.
