@Crodajudile Mais oui! Le code hollande d'un mathématicien c'est I.A.R. Soit investigateur, Artistique, et réaliste. Donc oui, les maths sont artistiques mon ami.
...he may defend he set the A=430 (baroque period purists), but the harpischord is definitely tuned at A=440.
Rubenstein was once asked the question: if he would play piano better, if he had not wasted half his time womanising. He replied, seriously, that he spent 90% of his time womanising, but he couldn't play any better even if he had given up on women...
Hope our Corey can grow up alongside his math work... and get a better keyboard player next time he plays Bach...
I stumbled upon Corey because he has the violin of Christian Ferras.
He has such a great sound (mamma mia!) and a big heart - hinting repetitively that he may become the next Grumiaux. But the question is: when will he grow up???
At the age of 37 (hope I got my math right), he has yet to commit any of the "major" concertos to record. Sure, Szeryng only did this Bach cycle (with Walcha) above 50, but he didn't play the allegro of the c minor suite (bwv1017) half a tone below score...
Corey is an wonderful guy and a good friend. I recommend to everyone that they should see him perform. He is very exciting to watch. His rare gift, aside from the math and music, is that he relates well to "the rest of us". Not always a quality in a supergenius!
I met Corey once. He is just amazing. My friend is lucky as hell though, he got a private lesson with Corey. Makes me wish i played violin, yet i play cello. maybe someday i can do both...
You say, "I typed 3-4 lines of it, and Corey immediately, without copy/pasting, typed it back to me accurately ."
Buf if, as you say, you were "sitting a couple of rows apart facing each other", then could you be sure he did not simply copy and paste your texted message back to you?
It appears that this "wonderful guy", "good friend", "super genius", "amazing violinist" and mathematician who relates well to "the rest of us", has simply charmed you and powgal08 with some good lines.
I met Corey, through the net and a couple of times in person, at Indiana University back when he was 19. This is the first time I have heard/seen him play the violin, actually :) ...or do math ;) He had a very pleasant and engaging personality, and tons of energy -- it looks like he still does :) May the Lord bless his whole life!
A bit late of a response, he says that Beethoven's character is a little to heroic for him, but he thinks that it allows you to express feelings you can't really express in real life (a good thing for him)
Cory played the Bruch Scottish Fantasy with the Las Vegas Philharmonic on February 28, 2004 and gave a masterclass at the LVAcademy during his stay which can be seen on the LVPhil website under educational classes.
My French is limited but I have the entire Beethoven v/p recordings by these two artists (Claves-CD50-2610/12). I consider them unsurpassed in interpretation and precision.
il est magnifique!!!! I love him!!!!!!

@djazzman100 Pardon pour mon incrédulité, c'est vrai, j'étais juste une traumatisée des mathématiques, je retire ! ^^

David Garrett may be all the current rage, but I'd rather have Cerovsek in my ears anyday. I've seen him 4 times in California. Always invigorating.

What's the first piece he's playing on this video? Anyone know?
takemitsu 3 years ago
It is from the 1st movement of the Beethoven Kreutzer (Sonata #47), unquestionably one of the greatest violin/piano sonatas ever written.

thanks, I'm going to buy his complete set of beethoven sonatas now!
