African slavery in the US — then in 1865 the 13th amendment freed slaves. However, they still faced discrimination, until the gradual progress of the African-American Civil Rights Movement. Right about the civil struggle of negrœs, women also suffered discrimination & unequal treatment, until the 1850s when the National Women's Rights Convention gave women the right to vote, & when the 19th Amendment prohibited the denial of voting based on gender. WE MUST REFORM IMMIGRATION LAWS TO BE EQUAL!
Probably most of the people in this country descend from at least 1 person who came to this country while it had relatively open borders. Why would these same want to deny Mexicans the right their ancestors had that allows them to enjoy living in the US? Racism? The welfare argument is better used against the social programs themselves. One should say that social programs cause us to be racist toward immigrants, not that immigrants cause us to spend more on social programs.
@kiybro RIGHT ON TARGET! They say their forebears followed the law. At a time when "follow the law" did not involve thousands of dollars expense, a lawyer's services, waiting times of several years for processing by a huge Federal Bureaucracy, no deportation on expired visas, no invasions on privacy, no persecution, actually. These are the kinds of people I WOULD SLAP WITH AN 80% INCOME TAX JUST BECAUSE, THEN YELL FOLLOW THE LAW, OR GO TO JAIL

@logorrhea Of course, if I were just as idiotic as they are, then when people start evading taxes, I would moan about those criminals who don't want four fifths of their income taken away...
I'd rather spend $10 Zillion dollars to kick these border jumpers OUT than have my little daughter of OLD IMMIGRANT stock grow up next to Little Mexico.
@MrPmd1 that is not true...................I just learned a restaurant owner in AZ had to hire 3 americans fro every mexican that left..................so that means less money per hour.........
Every country has a carrying capacity, just like our planet. You're assuming that all these immigrants will contribute to the GDP, but where are the jobs ?.
OK so that means when ever I am pulled over I do not have to produce and documents right? I am an American citizen born and raised in the United States and I may also add Choctow Indian. If I have to show papers so should everyone else. I have to show a drivers license and guess how I got one? I had to produce a birth certificate and guess how I got that? ok for an undocumented illegal alien to drive without a license, drunk, kill someone in an accident & no way to trace the alien where abouts

Reform = make it ok for criminals to come here & make it ok to come here get on the dole, Make it ok to come here and get EXPENSIVE drugs and "HEALTH CARE"
They come on there own get out on there own Make illegal immigration illegal.
Give visas to the Babes from mexico city and the other LEGAL law abiding healthy Mexicans and Hispanics why allow the criminals to storm around - This a riot waiting for a trigger.

illegal immigration is turning this country into a 3rd world country. Deport all these retards at all cost. Set up a guest worker program, GPS these motherfuckers, and if they start producing babies - do not grant their kids citizenship.
If anyone hasnt notice but the illegal immigrants offspring which is the "americanized mexican" are taking over the next level jobs a high school student or college kid would work.
Mexican people do not advance as a culture. They are a cancer.

The problems not with illegal immigrants, your problems with those fuckhead CEO's. If Americans werent so bullheaded, and REALIZE that this has been happening for well over 100 years, they wouldnt feel so blindsided when immigration reform comes up. END FREE TRADE, THERES ONLY ONE RACE: HUMAN

Illegal immigration has benefitted this nation. Think about this one , most take agricultural jobs right? They get paid minimum wage and in some cases less than that. This results in cheaper food for many. If Americans were to take over this jobs not only would production suffer but prices would drastically inscrease. People talk that they don't pay taxes right? But they make your food cheaper do they not? See it for what it is and not for what your being told.
Great vid, some well thought out simple logic. Priorty #1: Secure Border, Priorty#2: Integrate Illegals. I absolutely despise illegal immigration. American taxpayers are paying the price on both ends. Citizens get their identities stolen, families get broken apart, criminals get sent back who should be serving hard time. Its time we put away our xenophobia and come to a solution, our economy needs it. Ill have to double check those figures, but still a sensible video. Have Irish blood?
I agree if someone broke the law send them home but ....hey there wouldnt be so many illegal immigrants in this country if,i know how to solve the immigration problem and nobody else from latinamerica will come to this country anymore, lets deport all the illegal USA corporations out of southamerica so that we can keep our resources and wealth to our people ? cause you know my country has been a exporter of capital for years thats why im here but now its changing coz we sending back home corp.
There are so many things wrong with this video, it makes me laugh!... "Legalize illegas!"? WTF!!!! Secure our borders, punish those who break the law, choose for the safety of the nation.
Someone asked me to donate money to UNHCR saying that Angelina Jolie is an ambassador for it and showed me a map (you can google "worldwide war refugee map" and look at the first image). The biggest orange circles are in the Middle East and are directly caused by Uncle Sam HIMSELF.
No one is flooding Japan with Non-Japanese and encouraging everyone to "mix".
No one is flooding Africa with Non-Africans and encouraging everyone to "mix".
Only citizens of White/European Countries like the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and all the countries in Europe are having uncontrolled immigration forced on them.
This "assimilation" or blending is nothing more than an attempt to wipe out the White race. It’s genocide.
You won't die if you live with non-white people. Unless you commit suicide, that is.
America is not owned by white people. From 1882 onwards the Chinese Exclusion Act restricted immigration in order to keep the US more white. That is by definition racism, unless you speak American English.

@yeehaw1451 That's because none of those countries you mentioned are immigrant countries.
Most likely you come from an immigrant family member. Maybe it wasn't your mom or dad, maybe it wasn't your grandparents, maybe it was your grandparent's parents, or someone along your family tree. But if it wasn't for them migrating to this country, you wouldn't be here.
In an immigrant country, we mix, it's the way it is, like it or not. Whites, Blacks, Browns, Yellow. Any Skin color, we have it.
@linwooddeaton I can understand if 30+ year olds can't assimilate... after-all, the older you are, the harder it is on you. I know this by experience, my mom is 60 years old, and still can't assimilate, she's been here for quite some years. But for young people, they are willing, and able to assimilate. I know this by experience, I assimilated quite some years back.
And the labels will never stop, the government, and some companies and stuff ask you your ethnic race, african american, latinoetc
@linwooddeaton YOU KNOW I HAVE HAD TRAIN PEOPLE AT MY JOB MOST OF THEM WERE WHITE AMERICANS BUT NONE OF THEM LAST CUZ THEY DONT LIKE TO WORK I GUESS IM HISPANIC I RECENTLY TRAINED AN MEXICAN WHO BARELY GOT HIS GREEN CARD TRUST ME HE WORKS HIS HANDS TO DA BONE ,WE MAKE DA WORLD GO ROUND IM PROUD OF MY PEOPLE NEVER SHAME OF MY SKIN COLOR WITHOUT US AMERICA WOULDNT BE RUNNING FREE!!!!!!!!
THIS IS SOME BULLSHIT!!! lol i really dont think immagrints are bad, they just want a new life , but i guess you guys are just selfish to even help other, NOW DON HATE ON ME if you think every other state in US should follow Arizona's lead, FUCK ARIZONA!!!
For Everybody out there!. First of all most people dont understand the meaning of Immigration Reform. A reform is not by any means an AMNESTY. A reform can be from a simple change in the law that would allow the Fed Gov to register all undocumented people and give them a Legal Status. Now A legal status is not a citizenship; i don't think any immigrant has obtained a Citizenship overnight, there is a process for that. So anybody out there talking about immigration learn more about it.
What we need is Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement.
Among the changes we need to revise birth registrations to require the nationality and immigration status of both parents; and we need to revise 8USC1401 to define jurisdiction clause, and repeal 8USC1405.
@marvintheboon my husband is mexican i am American, he is not a bad person, he works hard don't do drugs don't sell them or don't get into any trouble EVER!! Just because you have no brain and the only thing you could come up with is there ugly maybe we should turn that magnum on you. Your one of the people who don't use common sense in all this crap that is going on. Why don't you fly down to Mexico city and buy your guns to shoot mexicans and see how long you last!!
How about the problem regarding all of the drugs that are brought across border by illegals? They far outnumber the illegals that just come here for work.
I understand your view, however, are we not a nation of laws? There is a legitimate process that people can take to enter into this country, and it is not illegally. If you do not see the simple logic in this situation then it is going to make it hard to compromise. Your presentation with all the numbers are very enticing indeed, however, you are stepping right over those that chose to be law obiding and enter into America the proper way, what do you have to say to them?? Reply,
Where do these people get these number from? Anyway, amnesty did not work in the 80s it will not work now! lets learn from history, the only way to fix this problem is by enforcing our laws insteade of turning a blind eye like Obama wants.

I have been block by a suscriber just for saying that illegals dont get free bus ride, no sec. 8, no health serv, emergency only, cant work in gov agencies, no unemployment benefits. u know why? dont have valid ss#. I dont agree 4 illegal immigation, but to do things wright. go 2 the back of the line & apply.
illegals here should go back and file VISA applications. If they are not criminals and not sick and can show they will not be a drain on the tax payers- give them a visa-
No reform is needed for that.
The illegals do not contribute as much as this report- go look at a Hospital emergency room- go look applying for Un employment benifits-- the illegals are terrible at construction do not follow specifications, act like Laws and rules do not count
immigration "refporm " will cause MILLIONS MORE TO COME
the solution is to Fine the employers and the illegals to pay the Bill and to remove the red tape and lawers sucking out.
18,000 to pick someone up at the home depot and put them on a buss to the birder?? no way someone is ripping off, need drastic laws to stop it, Impound and action vegicles picking up illegals at the home depot, volunteers can drive busses. Find out who hired them yesterday and make them pay something.
I am also in favor of a pathway to citizenship for law abiding immigrants and allowing far more guest workers when we need the labor but less when we don’t. I would appreciate your thoughts on these ideas.
@rarebreedinNC The majority of citizens of the U.S. have no interest in immigration and will fight immigration reform until they SECURE THE FUCKING BORDER.
Only when it can be demonstrated that the borders are secure do you have any chance of any meaningful immigration reform.
Part of that securing the border is rigorous enforcement against employers who hire illegals.
@megarational I posted my thoughts in 3 comments because they don’t fit well in 1. If you had read all 3 before responding you would see that I am also in favor of securing the border first then dealing with those who are already here. If they come in peacefully, pay fines and costs and they haven’t led a life of crime while here I see no reason why they shouldn’t become guest workers if we need them at that time.
@rarebreedinNC Why should people who intentionally broke our laws be rewarded with citizenship or even legal status. Won't this encourage future illegal immigration?
@coolbreezed As I responded to megarational I am in favor of securing the borders first. I am also opposed to citizenship for anyone who has broken our laws and for most who would like to come here legally. That being said I am for what benefits our nation, when the economy is strong and we need cheap labor to do jobs that we don’t want we should allow guest workers to do it. When the economy is weak and Americans need the jobs they should be sent home.
@rarebreedinNC That is such an idiotic thing to say. People are not animals. When they come to a nation, they come here to make a life for their family. They won't be used as rag dolls. Brought here when you need them, and thrown back when you don't
And remember that if they come here as guest workers, at least 50-80% of their paycheck will be sent back to their home countries. Then we have idiots who complain about the US dollars being brought out of the US and into other nations.
@rarebreedinNC Business is based on trust. If you destroy your reputation in the international community it will ultimately hurt your own economy, and the long-term cost of that is very hard to calculate.
If it cost less than 1/5 as much to apprehend illegal immigrants at the border as in the interior then we should finish our perimeter fence. We should also offer a path to legal guest worker status for those who come forward, pay fines and back taxes. We can use the proceeds to help pay for immigration reform efforts. The Immigration Reform and Control Act didn’t work in the 1980s so why should amnesty work now.
Hello seeprogress, my name is Brian and I live on a small farm in North Carolina. My property is fenced around the perimeter not just to keep my cows in but to keep others away from my cows. I have a fence around my house not just to keep the cows off my lawn but to provide a safe home for myself and my family. If I only ran fencing half way around my property and half way around my house then burglars could easily get in and my cows would be who knows where.
Why not a BOUNTY system, say $3000 per body, or some type of reward system? Many hunters would not need much money. AK47 legal along border. Of course, broadly announce this, bilingual signs so the survivors have nothing to complain about. Might work. Worth a try.
Very well presented immigration reform argument. I tried asking some other people from the "La Raza" group and they began using foul language in their responses. I had a question for you though, this comprehensive immigration reform requires amnesty for those in here illegaly, what happens with those that follow the rules and have been waiting their turn? Wouldn't granting amnesty to those that break the law set bad precedent?
@stupidtrooper501 But won't that encourage future illegal immigration? Why not just simply say that people who have intentionally broken our laws will NOT become citizens or even gain legal status UNLESS they return to their country of origin and apply via legal channels? This will help curb future illegal immigration while giving current illegals a just pathway to citizenship.
@coolbreezed but it doesn't address the issue of why people are migrating, Mex's economy sucks. also their gov is corrupt so unless you have connections, money, or are lucky it will take a lot of time and an money (above most people's pay in Mex). half of these issues would be solved if USA helped build Mexico's economy like it did to Europe and Japan. but since USA did not address this issue earlier (like in the cold war) it has to deal with a recession and immigration reform.
@stupidtrooper501 So now the U.S. must "help build Mexico's economy" so we won't have to deal with their citizens violating our immigration laws? That makes no sense and when you break it down, it just extortion. The U.S. should never play that game.
What we should do is make it even more miserable for illegals to come here than to stay in Mexico by heavily taxing their remittances and guaranteeing that illegal acts WILL NEVER be a pathway to citizenship in the United States.
@coolbreezed illegals have already been harassed, kicked out of most businesses, and alienated. also if there was immigration reform illegals would still have to pay to become legal (easily $5000) and an additional fine of $500-$1000 for crossing the border illegally
@stupidtrooper501 That's not enough. There's a principle behind my rationale. If you allow a law breaker to benefit from their illegal acts then you encourage future illegal acts. Paying a fine is not enough. U.S. citizenship is worth far more than an illegal act and a mere fine. We need to stop this by assuring that illegals will NEVER become citizens or even attain legal status as long as they remain within our borders. As for harassment, that's completely irrelevant. It's their choice.
@coolbreezed thats why i said it would be better for America to help Mexico rebuild its economy to take away the incentive of going to USA for jobs, have the money to go to USA legally and draw illegals back to their own country and it would help American (less cartels, drugs, and violence). yes its their choice but i thought America was the land of immigrants.
@stupidtrooper501 The "land of immigrants" argument is a colorful historical distinction but has no effect of law. As for helping Mexico, I say we help ourselves by removing the things that draw illegal immigration on this side of the border and strictly expand and enforce border security rather than spending astronomical amounts of taxpayer funds to rebuild a foreign country.
@coolbreezed so USA will build a Hadrian's wall along side on of its biggest trading partner? good luck with that. also the penalty for illegally crossing is a fine, anything else without at first changing the law is cruel and unusual punishment. also rebuilding Mexico will be cheaper in the long run than a strictly enforced border. lastly obama and bush have already spent record amount of money the 50 billion needed to rebuild Mexico is nothing to the trillions we are spending each year
@stupidtrooper501 Your response is riddled w/ disingenuous statements. First, yes, we should build a Hadrian's wall. Second, "cruel and unusual punishment" is constitutional language under the 8th Amendment and deportation, I assure you, is not banned unless the illegal-immigrant's country of origin does not accept them and renounces their citizenship. So you're wrong. Finally, I think your figures are WAY OFF! 50 billion to "rebuild" Mexico? Trillions already spent on immigration?Yeah right!
@coolbreezed i did not say trillions are spent on immigration. i said trillions are spent on everything the gov is doing right now ex: bail out, iraq, etc. 50 billion are able to rebuild mexico because all america needs to do is re-establish a middle class. this is significantly cheaper than rebuilding a nations economy from the ground up like USA did to the axis. building a wall alongside one of USA's big trading partner is not very wise.
The best way to cure illegal immigration is enforcement along with an assurance to all individuals who are here illegally that they will NEVER become citizens of this country UNLESS they return to their country of origin and get in the back of the line. This must be accompanied with harsher monetary penalties for employers who hire illegals and a steep tax on remittances to pay for border enforcement.
Once that is complete, we can amend the 14th Amendment to disallow citizenship at birth.
@coolbreezed As sympathetic as I am to your viewpoint, a "one size fit's all" approach will be unsuccessful and will cause unnecessary and unfair victimization in specific cases.
I've made the point elsewhere in this thread, & I'll make it again here: comprehensive immigration reform is a non-starter UNTIL THEY SECURE THE FUCKING BORDER.
most importantly: rigorous checking of employers and harsh & immediate enforcement against employers who hire illegals.
@megarational I agree with your enforcement first ideas . I was speaking specifically about how to keep them from coming rather than physically securing the the border. If we make it abundantly clear that breaking our laws by crossing the border illegally will NEVER lead to citizenship or even legal status then we remove the motivation to break the law. Same with a heavy tax on remittances, it removes/hinders a reason for their illegal immigration. Same with outlawing anchor babies.
@coolbreezed Millions have come, and are still coming, knowing full well that it's against the law and that they can never be sure of obtaining citizenship.
They come for 3 main reasons:
- jobs
-jobs
- jobs
Like I said, they only way of removing that incentive is rigorous and strict legal retribution against employers who hire them and landlords who rent to them.
Also, make sure they are never able to vote, so politicians don't pander to them.
@megarational I agree. Eliminating jobs myst be done, in my opinion gradually as not to disrupt the economy but once we do this. But they will still come to use our free public education and still illegally immigrate to have anchor babies. What we need to do is let them know that they will NEVER become citizen's by breaking our immigration laws. And we need to eliminate the provision in the 14th Amendment which allows people who are born to illegals in this country to become citizens.
If the huge agri-business loses it's sub minimum wage illegal labor force to pick fruit, they will just have to pay more in order to get some of the masses of desperate unemployed Americans to do it.
Maybe it will add 5 cents to your next 10 pound bag of apples. So what?
That standard line, "illegals do the work that Americans don't want to do" is bullshit brought to you by the very same special interests that influenced successive governments to ignore the illegal immigration problem to begin with.
The truth is that they did the work that "Americans don't want to do at the wages offered". However, free enterprise works like this: raise the wage, & when it's a "fair" wage for the type of work, you will get workers.
@megarational That's not how free enterprise works. In free enterprise, people are paid for the value of their labor, if there is illegals that will work for less, a free enterprise approach will be to hire those laborers so they will work for less.
What you speak of is the opposite of free enterprise because you are impeding an employer's freedom to hire who they wish. I'm not saying that you're wrong in your policy argument, I agree with you in fact, but you mischaracterize free enterprise.
Naturally those special interests that influenced gov't to ignore illegal immigration always counter that if it wasn't for cheap wages to illegals things like the price of fruits and vegetables would rise.
What they don't tell you is that the price rise would not be consequential, and that the economy would benefit by more dollars in the hands of American workers, and by the prevention of dollars being sent across the border to relatives in Mexico.
@megarational I agree. I never said we should not crack down on employers who hire illegals. I merely said that a person who has intentionally broken our immigration laws should not be rewarded with citizenship at the expense of people who attempt to attain citizenship legally. Thus an illegal immigrant who is here in this country should NEVER be allowed to attain legal status so long as they remain in this country. You disagree?
The only thing "gradual" about the enforcement on employers and landlords should be a lot of empathy and flexibility to take into consideration individual circumstances,
eg: an illegal who is otherwise law abiding, has worked in the U.S. for a decade, is still working, and has children who grew up in the US and are in school, should not just be deported automatically. Let him (or her) continue working until the larger problem has been solved. They address their situation.
Oh no, 5000 died while 12 million succeeded. that means there is a 1 in 2,400 die out in the desert. 1 in 2,400 die every day taking a shit. It sounds pretty safe to me!
In fact, more Americns are killed every day than illegals die crossing into the US. So the average illegal is more likely to take a life than die comming into the US.
Great video, even when it calls undocumented immigrants "illegals" and shows "red people turn into white" when becoming U.S. citizens. I will share it in my blogs.
@CarlosDCblog You're not turning into a "White" you're turning into an American citizen, who speaks English, we all can sort of trust. Right now, no one trusts you You don't speak English, we can't tell if you want to terrorize or work. thank 9/11 for this, don't blame Americans for wanting to live in a secure country. If you don't like America, then leave America. Go fight in Mexico for rights. Lord knows you need it. Take your fight back to Mexico and change that country. I hate your kind.
It diud not cost me anything to get the illegals here, They can return same as they came. Fine their employers more and make them pay back 941 taxes to pay for the APPREHENSION COST- make the cost TRANSPARENT and we can lower that also- AUDIT the APPREHENSION COST
These numbers that are quoted are generalized and do not take into account several facts like the large numbers of unemployed or under employed citizens that have no access to jobs filled by illegal immigrants. This would include millions of single parents and college and high school students. Employment law is not enforced. An employer will often take the "best deal" employee not pay a fair wage, or even make an effort to check SS#'s. These "employees" use the system benefits with NO input.
The workers that are granted amnesty under your proposal would lose alot of their appeal to the shiesters that employ them - absence of employment protections. If they become legal, their wages would increase.
What incentive owuld they have to legalize themselves? What would deter them from remaining illegal? Deportation? If we could incentivize becoming legal in your hypo, why cant we enforce our own laws now? Unless you propose a "carrot" instead of a "stick," which will cost us.
The extra GDP will go to the undocumented workers. The extra taxes will not cover the costs of hosting the foreigners. Most legal immigrants regularly go back to their home countries and then come back. Why can't the undocumented workers do the same? And don't believe the enforcement ruse. Which was the same one used in 1986 to con Reagan.
this is a great video. he idiots here, who just shout hateful comments do not understand the complexity of the immigration issue. That's why this country is going down the hill, not because of immigrants! We need the comprehensive immigration reform, that will finally stop dishonest employers from hiring undocumented workers, strengthen our borders, and also legalize those who are already here and regulate the future immigration! That is the smart approach!
Deport the illegals. The quality of life increase is worth almost any price we would have to pay. They are simply swamping our roads, public schools and prisons with their offspring and we can no longer afford it.
What's the point of building a country or anything for that matter if your just going to let everyone come in, change it and trash it and leave it bankrupt? The working class people just can't possibly in any way keep affording to work and pay for everyone to come to America and have a free ride. There are too many leaches and not enough hearts pumping blood to sustain. The well is running dry. Do liberals not understand basics? What am I saying, they live in dream world where everything is free
America got by without the mexican invasion. Deport them. We need illegal aliens like a sack of left handed assholes.
American families that have family members murdered by illegal aliens, who have been robbed or raped by illegal aliens should file a class action lawsuit against the federal government for not enforcing the LAW.
to all you haters out there , only indians are true americans the rest (90%) are sons of imigrants,,,, America is a country of Imigrants that is a fact , deal with it in a smart way and don't just blame the first person you see!

These are the kinds of people I WOULD SLAP WITH AN 80% INCOME TAX JUST BECAUSE, THEN YELL FOLLOW THE LAW, OR GO TO JAIL

They should stay home and help their home nations, the shear amount of Immigration is far too much, it's principle, not about money.
Like which ever way is gives us more money isn't going to be the best one.
The Illegal immigration is forcing a large scale demographic change and it isn't fair, for them to push on us.
They bring shame on their nations, and their people. And now on ours.

TigredelMar77 1 year ago
What we need is Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement.
Among the changes we need to revise birth registrations to require the nationality and immigration status of both parents; and we need to revise 8USC1401 to define jurisdiction clause, and repeal 8USC1405.

rarebreedinNC 1 year ago
@rarebreedinNC The majority of citizens of the U.S. have no interest in immigration and will fight immigration reform until they SECURE THE FUCKING BORDER.
Only when it can be demonstrated that the borders are secure do you have any chance of any meaningful immigration reform.
Part of that securing the border is rigorous enforcement against employers who hire illegals.
megarational 1 year ago
@megarational I posted my thoughts in 3 comments because they don’t fit well in 1. If you had read all 3 before responding you would see that I am also in favor of securing the border first then dealing with those who are already here. If they come in peacefully, pay fines and costs and they haven’t led a life of crime while here I see no reason why they shouldn’t become guest workers if we need them at that time.
rarebreedinNC 1 year ago 2
@rarebreedinNC Why should people who intentionally broke our laws be rewarded with citizenship or even legal status. Won't this encourage future illegal immigration?
coolbreezed 1 year ago
@coolbreezed As I responded to megarational I am in favor of securing the borders first. I am also opposed to citizenship for anyone who has broken our laws and for most who would like to come here legally. That being said I am for what benefits our nation, when the economy is strong and we need cheap labor to do jobs that we don’t want we should allow guest workers to do it. When the economy is weak and Americans need the jobs they should be sent home.
rarebreedinNC 1 year ago 2
@rarebreedinNC That is such an idiotic thing to say. People are not animals. When they come to a nation, they come here to make a life for their family. They won't be used as rag dolls. Brought here when you need them, and thrown back when you don't
And remember that if they come here as guest workers, at least 50-80% of their paycheck will be sent back to their home countries. Then we have idiots who complain about the US dollars being brought out of the US and into other nations.

CyberneticOrganism01 1 year ago
If it cost less than 1/5 as much to apprehend illegal immigrants at the border as in the interior then we should finish our perimeter fence. We should also offer a path to legal guest worker status for those who come forward, pay fines and back taxes. We can use the proceeds to help pay for immigration reform efforts. The Immigration Reform and Control Act didn’t work in the 1980s so why should amnesty work now.
rarebreedinNC 1 year ago 2
Hello seeprogress, my name is Brian and I live on a small farm in North Carolina. My property is fenced around the perimeter not just to keep my cows in but to keep others away from my cows. I have a fence around my house not just to keep the cows off my lawn but to provide a safe home for myself and my family. If I only ran fencing half way around my property and half way around my house then burglars could easily get in and my cows would be who knows where.

SharkN5I50 1 year ago
@SharkN5I50 illegals still have to pay a fine of about $1000 not to mention pay to become legal which i hear is at least $5000 on top of the fine
stupidtrooper501 1 year ago
@stupidtrooper501 But won't that encourage future illegal immigration? Why not just simply say that people who have intentionally broken our laws will NOT become citizens or even gain legal status UNLESS they return to their country of origin and apply via legal channels? This will help curb future illegal immigration while giving current illegals a just pathway to citizenship.
coolbreezed 1 year ago
@coolbreezed but it doesn't address the issue of why people are migrating, Mex's economy sucks. also their gov is corrupt so unless you have connections, money, or are lucky it will take a lot of time and an money (above most people's pay in Mex). half of these issues would be solved if USA helped build Mexico's economy like it did to Europe and Japan. but since USA did not address this issue earlier (like in the cold war) it has to deal with a recession and immigration reform.
stupidtrooper501 1 year ago
@stupidtrooper501 So now the U.S. must "help build Mexico's economy" so we won't have to deal with their citizens violating our immigration laws? That makes no sense and when you break it down, it just extortion. The U.S. should never play that game.
What we should do is make it even more miserable for illegals to come here than to stay in Mexico by heavily taxing their remittances and guaranteeing that illegal acts WILL NEVER be a pathway to citizenship in the United States.
coolbreezed 1 year ago
@coolbreezed illegals have already been harassed, kicked out of most businesses, and alienated. also if there was immigration reform illegals would still have to pay to become legal (easily $5000) and an additional fine of $500-$1000 for crossing the border illegally
stupidtrooper501 1 year ago
@stupidtrooper501 That's not enough. There's a principle behind my rationale. If you allow a law breaker to benefit from their illegal acts then you encourage future illegal acts. Paying a fine is not enough. U.S. citizenship is worth far more than an illegal act and a mere fine. We need to stop this by assuring that illegals will NEVER become citizens or even attain legal status as long as they remain within our borders. As for harassment, that's completely irrelevant. It's their choice.
coolbreezed 1 year ago
@coolbreezed thats why i said it would be better for America to help Mexico rebuild its economy to take away the incentive of going to USA for jobs, have the money to go to USA legally and draw illegals back to their own country and it would help American (less cartels, drugs, and violence). yes its their choice but i thought America was the land of immigrants.
stupidtrooper501 1 year ago
@stupidtrooper501 The "land of immigrants" argument is a colorful historical distinction but has no effect of law. As for helping Mexico, I say we help ourselves by removing the things that draw illegal immigration on this side of the border and strictly expand and enforce border security rather than spending astronomical amounts of taxpayer funds to rebuild a foreign country.
coolbreezed 1 year ago
@coolbreezed so USA will build a Hadrian's wall along side on of its biggest trading partner? good luck with that. also the penalty for illegally crossing is a fine, anything else without at first changing the law is cruel and unusual punishment. also rebuilding Mexico will be cheaper in the long run than a strictly enforced border. lastly obama and bush have already spent record amount of money the 50 billion needed to rebuild Mexico is nothing to the trillions we are spending each year
stupidtrooper501 1 year ago
@stupidtrooper501 Your response is riddled w/ disingenuous statements. First, yes, we should build a Hadrian's wall. Second, "cruel and unusual punishment" is constitutional language under the 8th Amendment and deportation, I assure you, is not banned unless the illegal-immigrant's country of origin does not accept them and renounces their citizenship. So you're wrong. Finally, I think your figures are WAY OFF! 50 billion to "rebuild" Mexico? Trillions already spent on immigration?Yeah right!
coolbreezed 1 year ago
@coolbreezed i did not say trillions are spent on immigration. i said trillions are spent on everything the gov is doing right now ex: bail out, iraq, etc. 50 billion are able to rebuild mexico because all america needs to do is re-establish a middle class. this is significantly cheaper than rebuilding a nations economy from the ground up like USA did to the axis. building a wall alongside one of USA's big trading partner is not very wise.
stupidtrooper501 1 year ago
@SharkN5I50 If you study your history, you'd realize that Uncle Sam has set many horrible precedents already. You should worry more about amnesia...
CyberneticOrganism01 1 year ago
The best way to cure illegal immigration is enforcement along with an assurance to all individuals who are here illegally that they will NEVER become citizens of this country UNLESS they return to their country of origin and get in the back of the line. This must be accompanied with harsher monetary penalties for employers who hire illegals and a steep tax on remittances to pay for border enforcement.
Once that is complete, we can amend the 14th Amendment to disallow citizenship at birth.
coolbreezed 1 year ago
@coolbreezed As sympathetic as I am to your viewpoint, a "one size fit's all" approach will be unsuccessful and will cause unnecessary and unfair victimization in specific cases.
I've made the point elsewhere in this thread, & I'll make it again here: comprehensive immigration reform is a non-starter UNTIL THEY SECURE THE FUCKING BORDER.
most importantly: rigorous checking of employers and harsh & immediate enforcement against employers who hire illegals.
& landlords who rent to illegals.
megarational 1 year ago
@megarational I agree with your enforcement first ideas . I was speaking specifically about how to keep them from coming rather than physically securing the the border. If we make it abundantly clear that breaking our laws by crossing the border illegally will NEVER lead to citizenship or even legal status then we remove the motivation to break the law. Same with a heavy tax on remittances, it removes/hinders a reason for their illegal immigration. Same with outlawing anchor babies.
coolbreezed 1 year ago
@coolbreezed Millions have come, and are still coming, knowing full well that it's against the law and that they can never be sure of obtaining citizenship.
They come for 3 main reasons:
- jobs
-jobs
- jobs
Like I said, they only way of removing that incentive is rigorous and strict legal retribution against employers who hire them and landlords who rent to them.
Also, make sure they are never able to vote, so politicians don't pander to them.
megarational 1 year ago
@megarational I agree. Eliminating jobs myst be done, in my opinion gradually as not to disrupt the economy but once we do this. But they will still come to use our free public education and still illegally immigrate to have anchor babies. What we need to do is let them know that they will NEVER become citizen's by breaking our immigration laws. And we need to eliminate the provision in the 14th Amendment which allows people who are born to illegals in this country to become citizens.
coolbreezed 1 year ago
@coolbreezed
Screw the "do the enforcement gradually".
More than one in 10 Americans are out of work.
If the huge agri-business loses it's sub minimum wage illegal labor force to pick fruit, they will just have to pay more in order to get some of the masses of desperate unemployed Americans to do it.
Maybe it will add 5 cents to your next 10 pound bag of apples. So what?
megarational 1 year ago
@coolbreezed
That standard line, "illegals do the work that Americans don't want to do" is bullshit brought to you by the very same special interests that influenced successive governments to ignore the illegal immigration problem to begin with.
The truth is that they did the work that "Americans don't want to do at the wages offered". However, free enterprise works like this: raise the wage, & when it's a "fair" wage for the type of work, you will get workers.
megarational 1 year ago
@megarational That's not how free enterprise works. In free enterprise, people are paid for the value of their labor, if there is illegals that will work for less, a free enterprise approach will be to hire those laborers so they will work for less.
What you speak of is the opposite of free enterprise because you are impeding an employer's freedom to hire who they wish. I'm not saying that you're wrong in your policy argument, I agree with you in fact, but you mischaracterize free enterprise.
coolbreezed 1 year ago
@coolbreezed Re-read your comment. If you can't figure out why it's a crock of shit, no point in debating you.
megarational 1 year ago
@coolbreezed
Naturally those special interests that influenced gov't to ignore illegal immigration always counter that if it wasn't for cheap wages to illegals things like the price of fruits and vegetables would rise.
What they don't tell you is that the price rise would not be consequential, and that the economy would benefit by more dollars in the hands of American workers, and by the prevention of dollars being sent across the border to relatives in Mexico.
megarational 1 year ago
@megarational I agree. You disagree?
coolbreezed 1 year ago
@megarational
