never been a particular fan of the dry clutches, mainly because i think they sound to clanckety and drown out the sound of the exhaust at idle, but you cant help but just love the sound of that thing on this bike!!!
@junkano according to Ducati, the Diavel can out sprint and out brake even the 1198..now that's crazy but I still like the look of the 848/1198.;-)...
@Duc1198YamR1 Yea those look nice but i will prob run the 6K , im running 10K on my car but for a bike i need all the light output i can get and still look classy ha Thanks for Responding Beautiful bike!
@arnold4life476 .... yea there really isnt.... maybe the 696 monster but I wouldnt do it if I were you. The likeliness that you will do something to the bike in the first 6 months - 1 year of riding are pretty good and Italian is not the way to go for cheap replacements. Start off on a 2008 250 ninja or find a cheap 600 if your feeling ballsy. But starting on a duc is a great way to lose your cash and like any bike, maybe your life.
@arnold4life476 I mean its a lot of power if your new to riding, but its manageable. Its going to require a lot of concentration and maturity and then even at that its still going to be a risk. If you get lax for just one instance and go over a pot hole you didn't think was that big, you could role on the gas and end up crashing, etc.
So to try and put it into few words as possible. Yes you could do it, just be mature about it and NEVER skimp on anything that has to do with your safety, EVER.
@arnold4life476 I am a yamaha/duc fan. If you are sure about starting on a 600 I would recommend a Yamaha YZF-R6. I am more partial to the 06's and later. But any of the big 3 (kawi, Yamaha, Suzuki) will run well and be relatively cheap to maintain compared to any Italian machine. Its more a matter of preference, you might like the riding position of one compared to another, or maybe its just the looks. The big 3 have been competing for a long time and they are pretty much on the same level.
@Cookies205 I started on a 696. Has been almost 2 years now with no incident. I will say this, there have been a handful of times when I should have died/wrecked and for some reason I managed to make it out unscathed. Example: hitting gravel in the apex of a turn, going into a full tank slapper, and literally doing a handstand on the bike from the violent tail whipping. Somehow managed to ride it out though.. That shit will put things in perspective.
im looking for a license plate relocator for my duc. all i can find are the ones that ou have to take off the silencers and mount everything. do you mind telling me where you got yours and what it is?

Hi, i am thinking about buying one next summer and i would have one question. I am not that tall, about 1,71 but i was sitting on the 1098 already and had no problems to put my feet down. But i cannot remeber if it was a problem to reach the handle bar comfortable. Dont ge me wrong, but you seem to be not that tall too and it would help me alot if you could give me an answer on this. I love your bike, performance-wise and the appearance of it. But it doesn't sound like a race-bike. I don't mean to annoy you but a fireblade sounds better. When I'm riding a bike I want it to sound fast.
I understand Arai helmets has a huge name under their belt, but Nexx helmets are so much higher quality, with better customer service. Also better safety ratings. The SNELL ratings are not present yet, but are about to be obtained. The shell is made of carbon fiber, kevlar, and fiberglass. They are a huge brand where they were born, in Europe. X1R1 model is the one you want to check out. Many more designs to come.
@risk822 most people like the red one because it's a Ducati color but I think the pearl white one is pretty nice....have you seen a white one in person?
@risk822 the gas mileage, I got about 80 mi before the light comes on but it's a 1198 cc race bike...it also judders a lot at low speed mainly because of the high torque IMO...beside that, it's an awesome machine.....
@Duct1198 most of the riders I know have the same kits...I got pulled over once but the officer didn't say anything about the plate..just gave me a ticket because didn't have the rear reflectors...as long as they can see it, I think it's fine....:-)
Video doesn't do this bike justice....saw a white 1198 in the flesh today with termi slip ons....its a gorgeous pearl white that really suits the Duc !!
For sound & looks, you cant beat this bike (not to mention performance)!!! Ride safe mate
@Duc1198YamR1 ... are you waiting on the new style Termi's for the 1198? They look trick!! They're a fraction smaller & lighter etc. Ducati dealers in Aust are still waiting for them, and yes, there's a big waiting list too. Shopping for an 1198....can't bloody wait!!
@funkybeat0 I originally wanted a full system but I might go with the slip-ons...the full system is gonna cost me more than $3,500 and I'm not taking it to the track anytime soon....plus I can get the slip-ons sooner than the full system...good luck on ur 1198 search...:-)

@Duc1198YamR1, fuck you. I paid R286 000 for my Ducati 1198. And my dad bought a Suzuki GSX-R600 for R98 000 (all of which is in South African Rands). That Ducati you're riding is probably just a test-ride, since there's no licence plate at the back. You fuckin' faggot. I study Physics at UCT unlike you, so get a fuckin' life. Bitch.
What does studying Physics have anything to do with this video? You're obviously a newb if you don't know about fender eliminator kits. That's one of the first things people do with their bikes after they get it. With all that "studying" you claim to do, I figured you'd do this thing called "research" before making the claims you have. You lack common sense, respect, and basic knowledge that even new riders have.
DirectCore is a retard. He doesnt know crap. He think just because his study Pysics he knows more than everybody. STFU and go punch yourself in the face.
2. MSRP for a Ducati 1198 in the United States is $16,499..I paid $16,700 OTD some people even paid less than that.
3. First you had a 1198 and then in another comment ( which I deleted) said that your dad bought you a 1198S..here's my question for you..do you even own a bike? actually, do you even know how to ride a bike?
4. I went to college when you were probably just learning how to speak kid..
I see that you have Hids on the duc have you had any issues as far the battery dying or bike not starting...i have a black 1198 and i want to put hids on it
@mexikanlvr I bought mine on Ebay for like 70 bucks shipped. You can get a set for less than 50 bucks now...the brand is Xentec..just type in Slim HID and you'll find it...I currently have two brothers slip-on on my bike but I'll probably get the new termi when it comes out in May or August
This is really a beauty..I think white is the best for 1198.wanna ask u something sir, what windshield do u use?is it double bubble?and what is the major difference between the 1198 and the 1198s?
yes, it is a double bubble windscreen made by ZeroGravity. The 1198S has Ohlins forks, Ohlins rear suspension, Ohlins steering damper and .Ducati Traction Control...the base 1198 doesn't have any of those stuffs..if you're a track rider then the1198S is the best IMO
What is the throttle response like compared to you r r1? I just sold my 06 r6 and it was butter smooth mean while my dads S1000S is horrible. Does this jerk around low rpm and have bad on-off throttle response like for in traffic?
the Ducati 1198 is more like a track bike than a street bike compared to my 2006 R1..IMO...it does jerk around at low speed as if the bike wants to go faster...on the track, it's a whole new beast.........
Are you sure you talking about the 2006 R1 and not the 2007-2008 or the new 2009-2010..the 2009 and 2010 R1s are way toooooo wide...and yes I do own a 2006 R1 and a Duc 1198
First time I see it in full white. It's very elegant.

yes, it is a double bubble windscreen made by ZeroGravity. The 1198S has Ohlins forks, Ohlins rear suspension, Ohlins steering damper and .Ducati Traction Control...the base 1198 doesn't have any of those stuffs..if you're a track rider then the1198S is the best IMO

Duc1198YamR1-Most of the magazines/website testers report the excess heat coming out of the underseat exhaust,2 an extent of being unbearable.
How true is it?
MrNithinchandran 2 years ago
@MrNithinchandran completely true....but i think you can lower the temp a little with the ceramic coated pipe

What is the throttle response like compared to you r r1? I just sold my 06 r6 and it was butter smooth mean while my dads S1000S is horrible. Does this jerk around low rpm and have bad on-off throttle response like for in traffic?
Thanks
EricMorseRacing 2 years ago
the Ducati 1198 is more like a track bike than a street bike compared to my 2006 R1..IMO...it does jerk around at low speed as if the bike wants to go faster...on the track, it's a whole new beast.........

is 'what everyone says about ducatis being narrow' evident? does it help walking speed maneuvers?
ruinedinc 2 years ago
my 2006 yamaha R1 is much narrower...but yes...it does help
Duc1198YamR1 2 years ago
oh wow ok thanks
ruinedinc 2 years ago
WTF? Narrower...? You sure you own these two bikes.. the yammy is way more bulky.. it's like sitting on spaceship..
I have an 848.. WAY less narrow than the R6, or R1

Are you sure you talking about the 2006 R1 and not the 2007-2008 or the new 2009-2010..the 2009 and 2010 R1s are way toooooo wide...and yes I do own a 2006 R1 and a Duc 1198
