but the Birtles, Shorrock, Goble mix is unbeatable.

I get your point, but there are quite a few bands (that are not my favorite), but are super talented that could do this "yacht rock" song justice: Rascal Flatts, Matchbox20, 50cent. ;-) Why hate on Smash Mouth? The singer in this vid isn't bad at all, but yes, the background vocals are pitchy as well as his falsetto in the middle.
