The bob Lutz claim of over 150mph is for the HHR SS. not the lt or any of the other ones. I own a hhr ss and yes it will do 150+. I personally have only got to 143ish due to traffic. Plus I got a little scared. I had a 2.0 liter mazda3 before this that governed at 113mph. The fastest I have ever gone before my ss was 135 in a civic si.
He most likely just bought the vehicle and tested out the top speed right away, because there's no way for the top speed to be that high if he's been driving it for a while.
This was recorded when the vehicle was basically band new.
Because it isnt a SS model. It's either a LS or most likely an LT with a 2.4 L. The SS has a different instrument cluster color. It is red and goes up higher :)
Average speed 89-91? thats dangerous, you get into an accident with that HHR, even if it wasnt your fault, you could lose your warrenty PLUS, Drivers lincese along with a ticket. its considered car abuse, Thats if you care...The HHR's is WIRED.
I have a 2007 HHR with the 2.4 I was doing 119 when the governor kicked in

The limiter stops it at 107... That's what most new cars do. They can go faster though.

So what's the deal with the Bob Lutz claim of over 150 mph? This is nowhere near that.

I've gotten it to 112 once, and have only been able to get it to 107 since then.
I used the average speed indicator to prove it though, to correct for any speedometer error.

You ae saying that the dealer checks the avg. speed from the PCM and your warrenty could be voided? Please, I'd sue the crap out of them.

+1
I don't think they'd engineer the car to go that fast if it'd void your warranty.
