@1acroyear1, I have a very special air moving syst. The stove is in the living room and the basement is below . All 3 floors are at the same Temp. The stoves warm air is first sent to the basement then spread in the entire house. Works perfectly for more than 20 years.
@nortcan Yeah, I think I phrased my question improperly. What I want to know is if the heat radiates from the body of the stove itself or from something else.
@1acroyear1 Not sure I understand your question but : the heat comes from the radiation of the stove. The Vigilant ll has an internal damper and when closed, the heat must travel inside a long path at the right and left sides, going donward, then to the back and there makes a sort of Z and after that long run enter the flue pipe. At 500*F on the top of the stove and 125*F at 17"H on the pipe. The heat radiates inside of the home not in the chimney.
@murphyslaw907 Hi,as you can read on nepacrossroad forum at A different Vigilant 11 coal stove, I made a few modifs on the stove. I will try to post more details when shut down for sping time. The bed deepnes is about the same as original but easier to load with the grill added on the top of the front plate. The front plate replacing the horizontal retaining bars also helps to keep the anthracite inside and avoid air to by pass the coal bed.
Bonjour chers québécois. Je vous félicite pour vos deux vidéos. Je vous demande conseille pour les marques d'anthracite. Quelle marque vous me conseillez ?
Bonne chance.

Thejuicyfruitx, the amount of anthracite needed depends on lot of factors: area to heat, home insulation... For my house 2100 s.f., I need about 6 to 12 pounds of anthracite at 8 A.M., and same at 8 P.M. The outside temp.is the guide for the quantity needed. Since I modified the stove, the efficiency of the stove improved very much.
How exactly do stoves like this warm a house? Does it just radiate out from room to room or does that chimney supply the heat to the upper floors?

How did you modify your stove. It looks like you have a deeper coal bed.
