saw them at the tusk in tuscaloosa al 1987-ish rocking hard to them standing on top of a table fell off busted my ass still rocking hard on the floor where I fell..haha great time/one of my favorite bands eva
I remember seeing them play at TT the Bears & someone stole (the singer) Jeff Conneley" sunglasses. He was yelling at the crowd "who took my F***in sunglasses" boy was he pissed. I also heard this ong on "Recue Me" with Dennis Learey.
Help You Ann - The Lyres [Boston, Massachusetts] - 1984 - "One of their BEST early garage rockers." - Lyres Sampler (Matador)-1998. NOTE: Organ dominated 60's sound. This is The Lyres in a nutshell.
Once saw this song on American Bandstand's "Rate a Record" (no shit!) The person who rated the record gave it a 96, I believe! (I know it was a high 90 mark-the dancers seemed to dig it-I was definitely surprised to see this smokin' tremeloed monster on THAT show back then! "College radio" loved it too...something great from the 80s!
This 45 lit up my pathetic eighties life... The Lyres and The Cramps saved that decennium for me. Still magic to listen to this - to this day I remember exactly where I was, hearing this on the radio for the first time. Have it on tape, even. I think.
AWESOME, thanks! I used to see these guys all the time at TT's, The Rat, and basement clubs at Harvard Sq. Some kickass garage-punk. Monoman was a riot, but sometimes got so drunk he couldn't sing. :-o
