Tahz, your response is barely coherent and historically illiterate. "No doubt, Marx and Lenin would be astounded that, amid the most prosperous and free society in the history of mankind, so many useful idiots could be convinced to protest against the very individual freedom and economic liberty that made it all possible."
The single funkiest bass ever recorded. All you sir noses, Toms, and wannabe funkateers out there arguing about irrelevant political pimps need to get to this, while you are fussin' over nothing, ya being played. All money is owned by the FED, no such thing as your, mine, or others' money. Suckas best wake up, and let the funk flash the light.
Does anybody know the name of this funk song that has a short guitar solo in it? these are the lyrics i can remember "together we can change rock and roll"??
It's funny that Parliament's "Chocolate City" got almost no radio airplay during Obama's inaugural. Play this back-to-back with Lamont Dozier's "Fish Ain't Bitin'" and Stevie Wonder's "You Haven't Done Nothin'" -- both of which were blasts at Richard Nixon's presidency when they first came out -- and you have a suddenly-relevant-once-again commentary on the state of politics in the nation's capital TODAY.
@reivenlocke Your ignorant and racist smear of Cain aside, Cain's quote was "If you don't have a job and you're not rich, blame yourself." You might not like his comment, but he is right. I was unemployed myself for a long time, and I hated it. But rather than finding someone to blame (i.e., the "Occupy Wall Street" malcontents), which would only sour me further, I kept searching and tried to stay positive. Cain's point was to control what you can, and stop blaming others.
I shake my fucking head that you decide to take the "high road" now. If I would have insinuated Obama was a sell-out, I wouldn't heard back from you at all.
Cain's ignorant smear at the unemployed doesn't take into account that people get laid off and jobs are cut because the 1% at the top made a decision and then in the same breath give themselves bonuses and raises because of a job well done. When those 30k people at BoA lose their jobs, do you think THEY would have deserved it?
@reivenlocke I always take the high-road; you should do the same. You can call Obama whatever you wish. He was now what I said he was in 2007-2008: a street agitator and a Marxist who has displayed his economic incompetence over 3 years. Cain's comments were not smears. An emphasis on self-reliance and pride are not smears. Perhaps you might want to ask yourself why people were laid off in the first place. Any idea? When you're done with the class warfare, read a book on basic econ.
Sure you did....you love to namecall people on the other side of the fence, but get your pink panties in a bunch when someone does it to your man. High road, my ass.
When the choice is taken out of your hands, how can you be to blame? Someone is working their 9 to 5 and doing well at it, but because someone at the top wants to maximize profits (for themselves), that person isn't working anymore. "Self-reliance" has fuck all to do with it.
@reivenlocke I didn't name call anyone. (It was YOU who used a racist smear against Herman Cain simply because he doesn't follow Marxist dogma.) There's nothing wrong with maximizing profits. That's how ANY business (including YouTube) survives. Moreover, you have no right to dictate what anyone does with their money or how to spend it or not spend it. Your arrogance and ignorance of basic econ appears to be boundless.
@mjn76 99% vs 1%. Cain is a bad political tactic, and will not pan out unfortunatley. Like the Anarchists in Spain of last century, gamin on ya and gainin on ya. You understand that, its what the song is about. The 1%'s days are numbered. We need to stop believing that money is god, it is not my god is it yours??? I do not trust in any currency that is backed by hypothesis' and greed, and especially no currency that depicts slave master's and genocidal maniac's as hero's. Marxist my ass, truth!
@tahzwalker I see you have the class warfare down perfectly. "No doubt, Marx and Lenin would be astounded that, amid the most prosperous and free society in the history of mankind, so many useful idiots could be convinced to protest against the very individual freedom and economic liberty that made it all possible. " -- Washington Examiner, 10/10/11.
Thanks for posting this old school funk/history lessen for the masses. I remember when I first heard this back in the day . I didn't really know what to think , then the more I listened , the more I felt the mesage . And look how far we have come as a people . We've got so more to do ,but stay hopeful ,and possitive .
@MartianSanta - I would say that it has inspired (and will continue to inspire) generations of African Americans in ways that you and I (in our generation) may not live to see manifested. Same way Dr. King, Benjamin Mays, GW Carver, Dubois and others have.
@tylersfs all it changed that now rich African american treat other minorities and other African Americans like shit. this The only reason Obama got elected is many black citizens that normally wouldn't vote, voted. it was nothing but tribal loyalty. i happen to welcome his presidency because what his stands for. and i love this song, but the message is all wrong. skin color doesn't make the man! nothing changed in America just because the minority being persecuted has changed!
I'm one of those that believe that - in a free society - people will only treat you the way YOU LET THEM treat you.
Obama didn't get elected because of the black vote. It HELPED, but the truth is a President can get elected getting minimum (or NO) black votes - pick any Republican in recent history, up to and including GW Bush (who only mustered 10% of the black vote). Obama got elected because he got enough support from a large enough % of the majority voting population - whites.
but maybe the reason was that until now the majority of the black population in the usa didn't bother to vote
same can be said about the Asian and Latin populations
the united state is has one of the lowest voting participation in the world, in the last election 68% of blacks voted. this was an unusually high number of black voters.
but if you are right, things maybe be better then they seem.
especially when people like Herman Cain speed their hate and bigotry.
@MartianSanta - I see Hermain Cain - as are most "career" politicians and many business people - as a straight opportunist. And "hate and bigotry" are just the means to fatten his own pocket more. He's found a way to make being a Black Republican "work" enough to make himself rich. In my opinion his approach is at least a generation behind. The fact that he's even able to garner national attention now is ONLY because there is a President of color in the office.
This song just ain't right... makes me move around, tap my foot, bob my head... what can I do? (smile) love the pics in the video... and I got to see Mr. Clinton in our little town of Lex several years ago... fun entertainer.
