I'd put HBK as the #1 best but Owen definately as #2 as far as overall wrestling ability goes for all time. Nobody could do all the wrestling moves in the ring and all the high risk moves off the top rope like them. Also they both had fantastic counters such as the bridge out of a pin into another pin counter. Guys like Bret, Flair, Mr. Perfect, etc. were good on the mat but none of them could do high risk moves off the top rope like HBK and Owen and also nobody could sell like them either.

@hecrpd Wrong time frame. Owen almost won the gold about 2 weeks before SummerSlam 1994. Owen pinned Bret in a lumberjack match & was declared the champion, but another referee showed a replay on the video wall of Anvil interfering & nailing Bret. The original ref re-started the match & Bret pinned Owen to retain the title. This was mentioned in a 1994 issue (I believe it was either Oct. or Nov.) of WWE Magazine.

Even Bret said that Owen was better than he was. Owen was versatile, he could wrestle technical, he could fly, he could brawl. Bret was a threee note wrestler, he refused to mix up his "big combo" whatsoever and was limited to very little brawling and only mat wrestling. Brett wasn't nothing compared to his little brother.

Reason: Austin wins the rumble. But does he face WWE's biggest, yet hottest heel (HBK) or the man who gave him a pile driver that nearly ended his career (Owen)? Plus, you could work a HBK-Owen rematch in February for a little extra added intrigue.
