religion is enemy to all of humanity only by following the nameless Tao one can walk the path of love, no secret knolwedge, no different idiology will be the answer. The answer to living in peace with he planet and the Gian mind is being as plants be and all of nature.
some people get too political... don't you understand that the Tao is always within you and you can use it anyway you want? who can really describe it? the more words you use, the less you understand. therefore, anyone who speaks, myself included, knows nothing about the Tao. humility humility humility!
Taoism and Buddhism are ancient self help methods. To go beyond this involves very intense study, you must become a monk. But, it is there to be experienced by everybody. Move beyond want and you will begin to see it. Hope this helps.
Buddhism and Taoism may as well be renamed to Buddhosophy and Tao-ology because they're not so much like -isms..... many people study and explore buddh"ism" and tao"ism" without feeling the need to label themselves as buddhists or taoists because those philosophies say something about the futility of labeling yourself in that way. Of course we're humans and we love to label everything but I feel "-ism" makes things sound too much something you ought to subscribe to rather than just contemplate
I dont belive in the the religion of Taoism, but I agree with the Philosophy of Taoism, look at the past, battles, Kingdoms, they all fell because balance was tipped.
Taoism is so deep, yet so true. everything have it's Yin and Yang. one can't survive without the other. the idea and concept can be apply to everything throughout the Universe.without the concept of small there can be no big.same to everything...
this is so much deeper than a special god like creature looking at you knowing everything and prepare to destroy everything...
Taoism rules without ruling. Let Buddha and Ozzy join in. Everyone is welcome. Love the video. The wisdom of the Tao has its origens in the I Ching or Yi Jing.
You mixed a lot of Buddhism into this video, but then again in popular Chinese religion they are always mixed, though not at the elite levels. The cause and path of suffering was Buddhist, many of the images were Buddhist figures and one was Siddhartha himself. Anyway, cool music and images, nice video.
Well, don't just tell us what it isn't but what it is (according to your understanding).
Just saying this video's bullshit really isn't helping anyone (->useless trash comment?) as long as you don't tell those of us who want to learn about Taoism, what's wrong with the video. So, what's Taoism about?
Taoism is not always about GOD GOD GOD GOD like the STUPID christan , it's about nature , the way of life , relax something like YOGA that the STUPID muslim claim that it's against the muslim. Yoga are from the indians and hindu. Muslim and christan are two BIG fakers that only want to brainwash people and TAKE money from them.
I think u r the biggest loser in this world. who created nature? read about Islam and its totally opposite of what u have commented above. In fact, yoga is RECOMMENDED by Islam and never said its against it (as long as it is for relaxing, contemplating nature and the work of God.
You said TAKE money, who is taking the money? the only money that need to be paid is the Zakat (annual payment of 2.5% of untouched wealth for 1 whole year) which is given to the poor people ONLY.
Hatha yoga, which comes from the original yoga, Kundalini yoga, which has a lot of work with Prana and is very spiritual. Whether you know or know, you are spiritually benefiting from any yoga because your doing at least modified versions of the original. Just like how older people do TaiChi who think it is just good for mind and body, when yet it benefits them spiritually too, they just don't recognize or ignore those benefits.
Taoism believes in "god," but not the Christian ideology your correct, it believes the Universe is god, and god is the universe, the original source, or Tao, became aware of itself and began to create, passing levels of itself down through a creational spiral, from the Tao becoming aware, wanting to experience itself, it then created the "Infinite Creator" who created Logos, and Logos created universes, and sub-logos who created solar systems to sub-sub-logos who create planets, ex: Yahweh in 1.
It's just working wif nature and help you get going with life. Live and let live , it's the meaning. =) Just like relaxing exercise , doing some yoga or something.
yah but making such of radical statements of what is the only true or not is just a little bit much :) I understand organize religion is nonsense but , saying that budhism or zen or other spiritual path is the ONLY path makes it sound as radical as any of the other religions
There are things that cannot be described by or understood through language. A complete description and understanding of the purpose and operation of the Way is beyond the power of language.

Nevermind... one question. Can anyone explain the time in taoism more detaily plesse? What do you mean a cyclical time? It has enough space for serval meanings.
Perhaps, annunnemesis, it would be wise to listen more carefully to the teachings offered by other traditions before placing all of them into a cluster. I'm sure that Taoism is not the only path leading towards truth.
Thats the problem sir. tradition strayed from purity over 2,000 years ago. With the exception of the medicine way or shamanistic paths. Most taoists have not. I know of taoist priests who have abilities and knowledge that you do not normaly find among followers of other paths. some Native americans and chinese taoists have a lot in common. They don't rely on faith or hope. They simply know a truth. That their is an intelligence behind all we percieve(creator).
This spiritual path.(tao) makes more sense than all the other religions in the world combined. All though taoism is not a relgion. It is a way of life. The longest person chronicled to have ever lived was a taoist master. 252 years. This is documented. He was a professor. and won three longevity awards from the chinese government. And practiced the eifgt brockades of tai chi everyday.Everyone I know jew, christain, buddhist, sufi, hindu, sikh, see the truth in the tao te ching.
What realy impresses me is that... many teachings in taoism are something I've been trying to tell for long. I was kinna surprised when I rad about Tao. Thats what I always wanted to claim about my spirituality., it is a way of life for a harmony with nature. I couldn't say there is a personal god but yet I named it the divine. Many things I believe were already part of taoism and I didin't know... Very very beautyful.
This path goes back 8,000 years at least. And makes more sense than all other religions. Put together. Because it is not a religion at all. It is a way of life. And the way of purity. I love lao tzu. But a common misconception is that he founde this philosophy. Whick isn't true. It goes back a long time. And I believe had ties with vedic schools of thought.
I agree. I like buddhism and confucianism. But I think taoists display a more unified view of nature. And hold to purity as a way of life. rather than a goal to achieved. Live it. Be it. Do not reach for it. or it will elude you. Thats my take anyway. Taoism has survived many cycles of time. going back 8000 years in its earliest form.
he was able to percieve it, which i commend him for, the philosophy has always been there, we just had to clear our minds so that we could percieve it. I recommend the book: Opening the Dragon Gates by taoist master wang liping- great man, very accomplished, beyond what we understand
by the meaning of the word in chinese, Tao is the way or direction. as the matter of fact, Tao in chinese philosophy has deeply thoughts, which is about the caltivation of your mind, spirit as well as your body. the symbol of the tao , ying and yang, contains the action and development of the world.
"They say the Tao is difficult, but it's also not difficult. For those who desire little and know how to be satisfied, the smallest gift is more than enough. Forever freed from luxury and lust, the mind eases just like that. I can see clearly through the pain of the Three Ways, and i don't give a damn about my reputation."
I don't belong to any organized religion, but of all the world religions, Taoism is probably the closest to my personal spiritual philosophy, and I agree with it on most of its major points.
We will reach enlightment and that is a greater gift than any man, beast, god, or idol can give. Because it is found not given and the finding of it is part of "what you get out of it".
lol Dan and swingingmonk :) ... arguments debates, fights, even deaths in the name of religion ........ only when we lose ourself we have it all :) .... forget who says what about your religions, is more...stop following religions then you'll find yourself enjoying diferent aspects you find as beautiful from allll belives :) and less obsess with "defending your faith " .... if your faith is real words can't touch it... right?
i dont have a faith, I'm a free spirit, I just so happen to be into martial arts, dont how you thought I followd a relgion, maybe it's my youtube name, which is a joke from the tv programme swinging monkey!!!
Your wrong, Taoism isn't just ectasy, the path is very difficult at times, but it incourages you to look at problems and obstacles not just have an ecstacy fix as you call it, taoism is about correcting what is bad and cultivating what is good, now thats not nonsense. what you say about selling it..your talking about your own soul.
That is the common point's of looking, just as you are looking at taoism in the common's view. Because you cannot see the whole, you are blind that is why I said it was useless.
correction I'm not looking at Toaism, I am a Taoist looking at the world. and also I think I agree with you that people look at things and become seperated, but remember if you are one with yourself then you are one with the universe.
by the way I dont understand the Ozzy thing either, maybe 'Anneymal' was trying to make us laugh.
buddha viewed life as suffering because ppl did not manage to develop "non-self" in them.. buddha states all the types and cause of suffering and teachings of taoism actually gives all the solutions to the sufferings
Daoism can be worshipped for those who wanted to materialize the concept or science - like how the Koreans made confucianism into a religion when it's only a philosophy. Daoism is, however, better practised and cultivated in the individuals' mind.
This video is not about Taoism, but about a sycretic religion that most Chinese practise - a mix of Taoism, Buddhism & Confucianism. We call that the uniquely Chinese religion. Peace!~
Nice video but in spots it confuses Taoism with Buddhism. For instance a statue of Buddha and the inclusion of the Four Noble Truths. The Four Noble Truths is not Taoist.
Actually, There are two forms of Taoism. Tao jio, the religious form that arose as a response to Buddhism. And, Tao Jia which is a bit closer to it's original form.
Taoism was, is and will be (in it's true intention) a holistic lifestyle. A life that seeks mental, physical, emotional and spiritual harmony and balance, in order to attain "Immortality". Or rather, the realization that one is already immortal. In other words; Enlightenment, So, one can 'return to Tao', the Source.
this is a good video except the part where it states " suffering can cease", suffering cannot cease, it is the balance to peace.Nothing can exists without its equal and opposite counterpart. Life and death,up and down, darkness and light. This is demonstrated throught the yin yang. This is essential to Taoism. Suffering MUST exist for there to be peace. That is the flaw with western religions, they try to rid something that is crucial to the cycle of life-be peaceful
Suffering can cease, if suffering and peace are the same, yin to yang then you can transcend both and both peace and suffering will become one and both cease to exist, and you just have "Life" left no suffering, no peace, just here, just now.
Western religeon has always been about ego and reward. Notice the references to streets of gold and pearly gates and mansions in heaven. In heaven why would there be any need of those attachments to cling to?
Heaven is a state of mind. A collective consciousness creates it. Just like here on Earth. Which is not actually a bad thing but the tao precedes all that. The difficult position I find myself in is distinguishing pre-heaven and post-heaven whilst living here in 'yin-world' (Earth and matter). 'Nothing' is the true reality because all other realities are born from it. Try not to cling to anything. The tao that can be told is not the true tao. -- "The map is not the territory"
That's right, taochiao is a contradiction in terms because to follow the tao is to not follow a religion. btw did you know that the Chinese never had a word for religion until something like 50 years ago. It's only us Westerners who feel the need to label belief systems, instead of just following them.
I'm not familiar with the chinese language, but I find that hard to believe. Surely they had some word with a similar meaning, like "doctrine" or "way" or "collection of teachings".
'Tao k'o tao fei ch'ang tao.' The way that can be told is not the eternal way. So we can write about it but we can never fully describe it. Also the meaning of words existed before the words themselves. 'Tao fa tzu jan' - Tao follows it's own nature.
One of the truest things I've ever read on YouTube. Quote, "It's only us Westerners who feel the need to label belief systems, instead of just following them."
This is about RELIGIOUS Daoism, by the way, not the ancient Chinese philosophical school, which is entirely different, had almost nothing to do with enlightenment or spirituality but instead had a practical outlook and no rites or symbols. It was later bastardised into the folk religious traditions of China. People in the west confuse the two very easily - one, Daojiao, the religious; the other, Daojia, the philosophical.
Read the Zhuangzi - a good translation that is no-bullshit - and you will see how ridiculous the idea is that it inspired a religion, a load of rites and mumbo. In fact, the Zhuangzi mentions the word "dao" 道which has a lot of meanings a lot less than Ru-school philosopher (Ru=Confucian) Mencius. Daojia is a legitimate and rational school of thought. Religious Daoism is a corrupted version of the ideas, with a lot of Chinese Buddhist terms, from after the fall of the Han.
(That's 道家 for the philosophical school and 道教for the religion. Don't confuse one with the other. I don't care much if anyone claims to be a Daoist, a religious Daoist - but don't confuse the Warring States philosophy with the post-Han religious cult.)
No, I'm fine thanks. It's just very strange that westerners confuse the two things completely, taking concepts from both, etc, and it doesn't help human knowledge in any way. It sounds cool - "I'm a taoist" - but it is so misunderstood and so... bullshit, the stuff that westerners, and some in Asia too, believe about daoism.

If Lao Tzu was standing in front of you, and you told him that, would he believe you're a Taoist??

tao is another useless nonsense esctasy, if you can sell taoism then its useful
dan020350 4 years ago
Your wrong, Taoism isn't just ectasy, the path is very difficult at times, but it incourages you to look at problems and obstacles not just have an ecstacy fix as you call it, taoism is about correcting what is bad and cultivating what is good, now thats not nonsense. what you say about selling it..your talking about your own soul.
swingingmonk 4 years ago 8
you haven't understood what I am saying.
That is the common point's of looking, just as you are looking at taoism in the common's view. Because you cannot see the whole, you are blind that is why I said it was useless.
dan020350 4 years ago
correction I'm not looking at Toaism, I am a Taoist looking at the world. and also I think I agree with you that people look at things and become seperated, but remember if you are one with yourself then you are one with the universe.
by the way I dont understand the Ozzy thing either, maybe 'Anneymal' was trying to make us laugh.

i don't think the teachings of taoism are close enough to buddhism to warrant the buddhist themes of the video.
the buddha viewed life as suffering, the taoist views life as an adventure, as fun.
briansaccount 4 years ago 6
buddha viewed life as suffering because ppl did not manage to develop "non-self" in them.. buddha states all the types and cause of suffering and teachings of taoism actually gives all the solutions to the sufferings

Daoism can be worshipped for those who wanted to materialize the concept or science - like how the Koreans made confucianism into a religion when it's only a philosophy. Daoism is, however, better practised and cultivated in the individuals' mind.
Obbyto 4 years ago
Doaism cannot to merely explained by a video. It's formless, it's everywhere, it's nothingness...
Obbyto 4 years ago
This video is not about Taoism, but about a sycretic religion that most Chinese practise - a mix of Taoism, Buddhism & Confucianism. We call that the uniquely Chinese religion. Peace!~
sampuna 4 years ago
Nice video but in spots it confuses Taoism with Buddhism. For instance a statue of Buddha and the inclusion of the Four Noble Truths. The Four Noble Truths is not Taoist.

Taoism is not a religion! It doesnn't involve worship! This is good...
waynehyl 4 years ago 2
Actually, There are two forms of Taoism. Tao jio, the religious form that arose as a response to Buddhism. And, Tao Jia which is a bit closer to it's original form.
Taoism was, is and will be (in it's true intention) a holistic lifestyle. A life that seeks mental, physical, emotional and spiritual harmony and balance, in order to attain "Immortality". Or rather, the realization that one is already immortal. In other words; Enlightenment, So, one can 'return to Tao', the Source.
Tauron68 3 years ago
Nice vid. May I say that a true Taoist would never have made this video in the first place?
idave 4 years ago
this is a good video except the part where it states " suffering can cease", suffering cannot cease, it is the balance to peace.Nothing can exists without its equal and opposite counterpart. Life and death,up and down, darkness and light. This is demonstrated throught the yin yang. This is essential to Taoism. Suffering MUST exist for there to be peace. That is the flaw with western religions, they try to rid something that is crucial to the cycle of life-be peaceful
TomTsunam 4 years ago
Suffering can cease, if suffering and peace are the same, yin to yang then you can transcend both and both peace and suffering will become one and both cease to exist, and you just have "Life" left no suffering, no peace, just here, just now.

Western religeon has always been about ego and reward. Notice the references to streets of gold and pearly gates and mansions in heaven. In heaven why would there be any need of those attachments to cling to?
killerwocz 4 years ago
Heaven is a state of mind. A collective consciousness creates it. Just like here on Earth. Which is not actually a bad thing but the tao precedes all that. The difficult position I find myself in is distinguishing pre-heaven and post-heaven whilst living here in 'yin-world' (Earth and matter). 'Nothing' is the true reality because all other realities are born from it. Try not to cling to anything. The tao that can be told is not the true tao. -- "The map is not the territory"

boredcloud 4 years ago
That's right, taochiao is a contradiction in terms because to follow the tao is to not follow a religion. btw did you know that the Chinese never had a word for religion until something like 50 years ago. It's only us Westerners who feel the need to label belief systems, instead of just following them.
schtel 4 years ago
I'm not familiar with the chinese language, but I find that hard to believe. Surely they had some word with a similar meaning, like "doctrine" or "way" or "collection of teachings".
boredcloud 4 years ago
mmm...tao translates as 'the way' or path.
'Tao k'o tao fei ch'ang tao.' The way that can be told is not the eternal way. So we can write about it but we can never fully describe it. Also the meaning of words existed before the words themselves. 'Tao fa tzu jan' - Tao follows it's own nature.
schtel 4 years ago
One of the truest things I've ever read on YouTube. Quote, "It's only us Westerners who feel the need to label belief systems, instead of just following them."
sudowoodonumbers 4 years ago 2
This is about RELIGIOUS Daoism, by the way, not the ancient Chinese philosophical school, which is entirely different, had almost nothing to do with enlightenment or spirituality but instead had a practical outlook and no rites or symbols. It was later bastardised into the folk religious traditions of China. People in the west confuse the two very easily - one, Daojiao, the religious; the other, Daojia, the philosophical.
blackjamm 4 years ago
Read the Zhuangzi - a good translation that is no-bullshit - and you will see how ridiculous the idea is that it inspired a religion, a load of rites and mumbo. In fact, the Zhuangzi mentions the word "dao" 道which has a lot of meanings a lot less than Ru-school philosopher (Ru=Confucian) Mencius. Daojia is a legitimate and rational school of thought. Religious Daoism is a corrupted version of the ideas, with a lot of Chinese Buddhist terms, from after the fall of the Han.
blackjamm 4 years ago
(That's 道家 for the philosophical school and 道教for the religion. Don't confuse one with the other. I don't care much if anyone claims to be a Daoist, a religious Daoist - but don't confuse the Warring States philosophy with the post-Han religious cult.)
blackjamm 4 years ago
i suggest you invest in a journal of some sort.
anneymal 4 years ago
No, I'm fine thanks. It's just very strange that westerners confuse the two things completely, taking concepts from both, etc, and it doesn't help human knowledge in any way. It sounds cool - "I'm a taoist" - but it is so misunderstood and so... bullshit, the stuff that westerners, and some in Asia too, believe about daoism.
