  • Try it like a WWI Tommy: operate the bolt with the thumb and fore finger and web of hand, operate the trigger with the middle finger. Never take the thumb and fore finger off the bolt.

This is how they made the Germans think they were using machineguns.

  • @jwc1481 I know this technique and only know one person who can do it competently.

Never tried it myself. Will give it a go next time I am on the range.

  • @AnUnknownS0ldier This is where the Enfield close-on-cocking has it over the Mauser.

  • So what was his group like?

  • @shakeybeatz Not great but all shots where on target. One was a dead centre bullseye (this was at 100 yards). But I would put that down to luck rather than skill.

  • I love how the Americans are all surprised about this...

  • @sargeantsailorman SO YOU'RE SAYING THAT THE UK GOVERNMENT IS NOT GIVING CIVILIANS TO STOP A HUGE ARMED UPRISING?!

    ompldr.org/vYjF1YQ/ThisIsYou.jpg

  • Nice piece.

A good one to know what you are doing with.

  • I killed a deer 2 days ago with my no.4 mk 1. very good rifle. I got 6 rounds off in about 8 seconds and hit the deer 3 times. 2 times in the heart and lungs and once in the stomach. the deer was about 160 yards away and running.

  • I'm glad you guys can own and use firearms again. At least it's a step in the right direction. I don't believe governments really care about someone shooting up a few innocent people, as bad as that is, but instead Politicians don't trust armed citizens. They know that if the people get unhappy enough, they might rise up and remove them from power. Having firearms makes that easier for them to do so. Hitler required everyone to register firearms, then knew who to go to, to confiscate them.

  • @sergeantsailorman Hi, saw your comment. Are you talking about the UK?, has there been a change in the firearms laws over there?

  • I was reading about Royal Army Sergeant Snoxal in 1914 who set a still current record on bolt action aimed fire using a Lee Enfield. He placed 38 rounds inside a 12 inch circle, at 300 yards, in one minute. Imagine that. Shooting that accurately, plus reloading, and doing it all in one minute, and with iron sights no less. Awsome. I'm an ex-U.S. Marine, and I would have liked to have been there and seen that.

  • Stripper clips are the fastest way to reload. Lee Enfield magazine are almost never removed from the rifle - except for cleaning.

  • Do you need stripper clips to reload the rifle, or can you just take the magazine out and pop in a fresh one?

  • @Falconwing

You can replace the mag but really its only there to increase capacity and mostly taken out for cleaning. Logistically it makes sense just using small stripper clips rather than carrying around bulky magazines. I have a deac (live soon) and the spring is pretty stiff and its just extra hassle compared to using stripper clips.

  • Such a beautiful rifle...

  • Needs to be done with a Mk.III for ultimate coolness.

  • Very nice weapon and awesome shooting!

  • @aspottedcheetta Yes certain people(Not all people,as that would be stupid:-)should have the right to buy, own&shoot guns&Im quite happy to go back to the original Firearm Act 1968,which permits all types of guns, except for machine guns,bazookas,etc-but the anti-gun groups&MPs object to guns&want stricter laws(They were strict enough pre-1989,before the first bans, after Hungerford massacre in 1987:-)self-defense with a pepper-ball gun,is okay with me.Yes we do hunt in Britain with guns, legally.

  • @aspottedcheetta buy getting an FAC, shame we're so restircted, i'd personally prefer american laws being able to on semis again and pistols, but those cry baby anti guns have us out manned, but hell i may just move to the usa

  • @aspottedcheetta Also there's the security aspects, like having to have a gun safe installed&bolted to the floor or wall, having the windows&doors of a house or apartment reinforced or even changed if found to be inadequate by the liason officer, who makes a home visit. For larger gun collections over 10 or 14,some Police forces will insist on alarms linked to the safe&have recommended ADT alarms. So the more affluent&safer the area is the easier it is to get a license, than in high crime areas.

  • @aspottedcheetta Easy,a candidate must attend a club open day(A firearms club, which categorises all rifled-weapons&muzzle-loaders:-),become a probationary member for 6 months, then become a full member,at the clubs discretion. The candidate must submit a Section 1 license application to the police firearms department&they do intensive background checks&will allow at discretion,to overlook some minor offenses, like speeding, etc, but if a candidate has been inside for more than 3 years, lifetime ban.

  • @aspottedcheetta The Queen lets us have guns now.

  • @AnUnknownS0ldier Really? I'm not really up on the laws in the UK, when did this happen?

  • @Rossco139 guns have always been legal in the uk dude. you just need to have a licence which takes a fair bit of effort to get

  • hey man I currently live in norhtern ireland and im trying to get an enfield. You know where i can get one or how much one wud cost. Im ahving trouble finding one.

  • Best bolt gun of WW2

  • Huh, my No.4 MK1 has a peep site. I wonder why that is....

  • Is it yours?

  • A shooting range in the UK? With current British gun laws I'm surprised that the British military is allowed to have weapons much less a civilian

  • @Goatoftheforest No we just run around Afghanistan with cups of tea and fish an chips !

  • @mordacity85 might as well. Those will have about the same effect on the outcome of the war, which is none.

  • I have a no4 mk1 from Fultons of Bisley,1943 rebarreled by them in the mid 50s with a HEAVY barrel in 7.62, adjustable bedding points in the stock, and overall very accurate. Has an issue with pinching cases, but is fixable. Good vid

  • Miss....Miss.....Miss.....Miss.....Miss

  • 15 seconds for a lefty... faster than i could do it left handed ha

  • I'm sorry our friends across the pond have to put up with all this non-sense. I do love my No.4Mk1* though. I'm glad I bought it.

  • @rojocorsa No. 4 Mk 1* is the best bolt action rifle ever made in my opinion. Looking forward to shooting mine at Bisley tomorrow.

  • i got my NO.4 last year, haven't taken it down to bisley yet, i just use it normally on shared military ranges, but just wondering wat distance are you guys shooting :)??

  • @maddymann8 Usually 200 and 300 yards at Bisley or one of the many army bases that allow civilians to use them at the weekends. Very occasionally we shoot at 500 and 1000 yards, but that is rare as most people can't or don't want to shoot at these distances

  • @AnUnknownS0ldier the furtherest i have shot mine in 500 yards, at an army base, wasn't great had about a foot'n' half group of 5 rounds haha, but yea i do quite like the LD precision stuff, as oppose to always shooting 200, and 300 yards, especilly with a NO.4 as its too easy, and just gets tedious

  • @gerby90 Waste of perfectly good words

  • @AnUnknownS0ldier how surprisingly creative u are... stfu

  • @gerby90 ammo was made to be shot

  • Very nice. My Enfield has the flip up 300 and 600yard+ rear sights. Must be nice to have a ladder sight.

  • What provision does British law make for owning this rifle? I thought that virtually all firearms were illegal in the UK?

  • @rylan76 Google UK gun laws

  • Lee action - the best.

  • It's harder to shoot most rifles left handed, especially bolt actions or m1 garands because you have to reach over the breech and operate the action left handed. I find it quite angering to have to do this, especially loading a garand, which i why i shoot garand and some bolt actionsnrighty and most everything else lefty, because i like to be incredulous.

  • I got mine a couple of days ago, its a long branch no 4 mk 1, but it doesn't have the flip up sights, anybody know where I can get some of those?

  • E-bay UK

  • at that spped u woula turned that "3o" into a scatter gu mate

  • Two licenses in the UK - FAC (firearms, ie. anything rifled and non-air) and SGC (shotgun). Basically, with the FAC you have to prove to the local police why you should own one. With the SGC, the police must prove why you should NOT own one! That, in a nutshell, is the law in the UK. .50 Browning cal rifles are legal in the UK, there ARE licensed holders tho not many ranges. Pump-action shotguns also legal, as are lever-action rifles, blackpower revolvers & pistols, etc. No fingerprints as yet.

  • Nice shot boy! I love the Lee enfield!

  • you beat his record :D

  • Nice shooting.

  • Thanks

  • dude there is no point in shooting if you dont aim thats like wasting your money to hurt your sholder

  • because he doing a 5 round grouping quick as he can, still needs to be aimed, anyone can fire quickly not aiming at anything

  • @AnUnknownS0ldier what range do you shoot at I had an Army mate that shot at Bisley and he reconed he could hit a 6ft square target at 1500mtrs.{303} he was a very good shot but I never fully belived him.

  • @terryjosie Hitting a 6ft target at 1500m would be an exceptional shot, well beyond the range of most, even well trained, people.

Not sure that Bisley even has ranges @ 1500 meters.

Personally, my best is a bullseye with my 90 year old SMLE at 500 yards. But then I'm not a trained professional :)

  • @AnUnknownS0ldier thanks for the reply, I was always a little sceptical he reconed he fired almost laid back with the barrel resting on his ankles and the only mod. was a better backsight. We used to shoot the old 303 at 600mtrs. accurately, with standerd sights but 1500mtrs is a massive diference. They did used to shoot to 1500 mtrs. at Bisley. This was in the 70's. {showing my age}

  • not quite "rapid" but it looks like a fun firearm to shoot nonetheless

  • This is in the uk??? how did you manage to own one of those?

  • I googled 'UK gun laws'

  • ok i will do chap

  • i dont think its impossible to own rifles legally in the uk

  • with great difficulty and perseverance. More or less, it is about as hard to own a firearm in Britain as it is to own a machine gun in America. Shotguns are a different matter.

  • Interesting way to put it. You must complete a significant amount of paperwork, registration, fingerprints and background checks in the US (I own several). Not a single crime with a LEGAL one in 20 years in the whole US.

  • fingerprints in the US for a bolt action? must vary by state. didnt have to do that in CA, which is not a very "gun friendly" state. if you get the curious & relic license from the ATF its easy, and then you can get guns in the mail from outta state.

  • Sorry for the confusion - I was replying to another post about similar to MG ownership in the US. That varys by state but always requires fingerprints, background etc. Even with a C&R you can get an MG shipped right to your door! Although you need no lisc in many states if you buy in state. Any UK shooters in this video are invited to our MG shoot in the US late next month! You get here, you can shoot!

  • Do you have to be a full US citizen to purchase a firearm? Because i'll be joining the US army and immigrating in a year or two. I know it's 21 for Concealed Carry.

  • You have to be a US citizen to buy a gun.

It's very hard to buy one if you aren't. It takes a lot less work if you're a citizen.

  • @majorporpoise

No you have to be a resident not a citizen....

  • Yessss.....

  • not all places allow carry permits.

  • Why dont you join the British army

  • He ownes one on a Section 1 Firearms license. This rifle is known as a bolt-action rifle, meaning that the bullets have to be manually-fed into the chamber,by means of the bolt. These guns are UK legal. However semi-auto rifles of a centre-fire calibre and all cartridge handguns are banned, following the Hungerford and Dunblane massacres.

  • The pistol ban kinda sucks, especially since those dudes would have bought a rifle instead and done exactly the same thing. UK government is way too sensitive about these things, people with dorment mental problems should have been kept under control, and the massacres would never have happened.

And besides, gangsters can easily smuggle guns here when they need them.

  • Pistols are banned becouse their small (thats what I think). Try hiding a Lee Endfield in your pocket.

  • Do you think it really matters if you can conceal them or not? That aussy spaz drove around with his guns in his car, does it make a difference? No.

  • Completely true, mate. Thomas Hamilton, the Dunblane shooter, had been reported to the police pleeeenty of times by fellow range colleagues and neighbours for dangerous practice with his weapon, and extremely erratic behavior, yet the police do nothing.

It's a total sham, you can't own anything for self defence, and you most certainly can't own a gun, only government is allowed to do that now, bar a few civilians who actually manage to get a shotgun/firearms certificate.

  • Your right dude.. i'm going to be immigrating in a few years too. UK government is fucked up and i don't want to be defenseless when the apocalypse rolls around :P

  • See you on the other side, mate!

  • Also did you know that a part of the Lord Cullen report, was published in the British Gun Mart magazine, which stated that Dectective Sergeant Hughes submitted a report to the Cheif Constable, stating that Hamilton was of unsound mind, etc& the report was ignored&vanished until breifly after the massacre. The 100 year long clause is still locked onto that report&parts of the original Sky TV footage, showing part of the bullet-ridden windows, were censored too. Also the murder attempt on Hamilton in1989.

  • Yes, stinks. Why 100 years, unless covering something up?

  • Well my theory is that, many police officers&Scottish polititions, were mutual friends of Thomas Hamilton&that he supplied nude pictures of boys&illegal hardcore child pornography,to this vicious circle of friends.I think this, because part of the Cullen enquiry was published on this. Also Hamilton used to shoot at boys, with his AR-15/M16A1 semi-auto rifle,to scare them, during orienteering, experditions,on remote islands, off of Western&Eastern Scotland. The real criminals are these nonces,in power.

  • @TheAlabamaSlammer

There are millions of legally-held firearms in the UK and a couple of million Firearms and Shotgun certificate holders - quite a difference between that and "you most certainly can't own a gun". You can own a .50 calibre bolt-action if you have access to a range that'll allow it. Try getting away with that in certain parts of the US. If "thinking American" means parroting mistruths, propaganda and political dogma in the face of actual facts, you're well on your way, son.

  • @TheAlabamaSlammer Do you know WHY the Police did not pull Hamilton's FAC, despite numerous complaints and cencerns being expressed about his character? He was in the same Masonic Lodge as the Chief Constable of the local force- FACT. This was surpressed & kept out of the public domain. Six months after the massacre, the Chief Constable quietly resigned. Utterly disgraceful, and the law abiding FAC holders paid the price for this corruption.

  • @CenturyGamer

I wouldn't say easily smuggle them in but they do. Britain has one of the tightest arms trafficking in the world...too bad that does not stretch to immigration.

  • @CenturyGamer british gangster lol want a cup of tea my homie

  • @CenturyGamer try living in Australia, we cant even own a BB gun without a full firearms liscence, and that requires us to be a full club member who particepates in more than X amount of events per year ect ect, cant even own airsoft guns down here

  • @CenturyGamer why is there a pistol ban in CI there is not, surely someone with mental problems could go round and kill people with a crossbow, at least bullets might go through you but crossbow bolts are pretty big

  • I am not a fan of bolt action rifles, but the Enfield is one of my favorites.

  • i think actually bolt action rifles are pretty cool:D

  • ha, yesterday i shot an enfeild for the first time and almost broke my collarbone

that thing has kick when your standing up

    it demolished a tree

and ripped a target on a wooden pallet in half, but we did shoot at the pallet with kentucky long rifles before we shot it with the enfeild

  • yeah...i own one. nothing quite like a straight stock and brass buttplate to "announce" when you've touched off a round

  • Nice, you beat the camera mans score more then double!

  • Yes, but the cameraman shot left handed so was bound to be slower.

  • I see, sorry my bad.

  • Pretty cool Brenny ... shot me :P jajaja
