  • @CHELSEA9636 walters

  • More American dominance, more reason for the haters to hate.

  • They all seemed pretty blase' at the end there.

  • he was best in rome. but i think that Cavic should won gold at olyimpic games

  • Sorry but the super suits gets out of our sport :D! But also without a supersuit Phelps will break the 50 seconds within 2 years. In London I think he swimms 49.5, without a supersuit of course!

  • phelps time was 49,72 i think for about 2-3 years he will go under 49,now in supersuit he can go under 49,50 easily

  • @edinkirk no one is breaking 49 w/o a supersuit for a while

  • Interesting point about wave drags affecting lanes 1 and 8 more so than the central lanes, very interesting and maybe a plausible theory actually. I'm not sure, and though I'm no science expert, I can see how the wave drags from the central lanes all the way to the outer lanes could cause more resistance to swim through. Any experts here who know their stuff or is it just 14 year old ignorant children?

  • Unbelievable split by Phelps : 49.72!!

  • to bad that it doesn't count as an individual one :(

  • @bluewhale18 nanana it cant be yo delio

  • first comment! :D

    wow

  • they get placed relative to what their prelim time is, so lane 1 and 8 are the slowest times while 4 and 5 are the fastest.

  • They (I'm assuming that you mean FINA) can't just put the Americans in lane eight just because you want them there; they just don't put the competitors in a random fashion. Swimmers and relay teams are seeded according to times from the previous round so that the fastest swimmers/teams are in the central lanes of the pool, and the slowest are in the outer ones.

  • The Americans are usually the top-qualifying team in the relays, and therefore earn the right to stay in lane four. The same goes with the other countries and their swimmers.

  • Comment removed

  • Lane assignments are based on how they qualify. First heats, semifinal, then final. Fastest is lane 4. Second in 5 and so forth.

  • my point is does lane assignments affect any speed of the swimmers, especially wave drags

  • Yes it does. Try swimming against the wave in the ocean.

  • There's this thing called strategy. I know from my varsity experience that if 8 guys are going in to a wall then there's going to be a massive wave behind them, if you don't go far enough underwater you will literally be knocked out of the race.

  • are you saying that lane 1 and 8 have to go more underwater or everybody?

  • @beerbrook all lanes you dumb moron

  • @staticclean - That is an excellent point.

  • There is only heats and finals for relays, and individual events that are 400m or higher.

  • @beerbrook ur an idiot

  • which state do you live in my friend

  • @beerbrook yeah maybe wen th rest of th world can get to our speed
