  • @houstontoddlerscom It is very rich green color and not garish and remains green until the turf begins to come out of dormancy and begin to grow and then the leaf blade is cut and you are back to normal.  Because of the color absorbing heat the St. Augustine comes out of dormancy earlier.

  • Its cheaper to reseed with rye grass for the cold season.

  • This is correct. However with a lawn in Texas you save by not having to pay for mowing during the dormant season and painting is better for the turf when it comes out of dormancy. Rye retards lawns from coming out of dormancy.
