  • i love the little girl singing!

  • Merry Christmas, one and all!

  • When was this made?

  • 5 years ago, November of 2004.

  • Love the part when Scrooge see's his sister and mother.

  • I saw the musical at Seacost Rep. Pretty cool! Love this song!

  • i have to start doing charitable things, i feel like... well not like scrooge, but sorta locked up, and just sitting back and watching everyone tear Earth apart with gas and garbage.

  • There are plenty of churches and other groups which can provide you with opportunities to help out in your community and make a positive impact on others.

For instance, this afternoon, as part of a volunteering opportunity through my church, I'll be delivering a Christmas poinsettia to an elderly man in the hospital. Not much, but hopefully it'll help him have a merrier Christmas.

  • I love this song and this musical!! Kelsey Grammer was awesome in this movie!! I saw for the first time back a couple of weeks ago.

  • this song is so beautiful i got goosebumps, i am a huge fan of A Christmas Carol

  • I get chills everytime I watch this. And eveytime we sing it for choir.

  • @redpen411 Ruthie Henshaw is such a gorgous woman and performer. I liked this version of Scrooge.

  • @redpen411 me too lol

  • @redpen411 i also got goosebumps >.<

  • Sideshow Bob is a great Scrooge!! Awesome work!!

  • I feel bad now, I need to do more charity work. I do what I can, but atm I feel like a bad person. Right now I'm trying to raise money for needy kids at school, but I feel like I've been a real Scrooge.

  • Emily Deamer - the little girl who starts the song - has a beautiful innocent voice. I love this film - am watching it every day on Christmas 24 (Movies 24 on sky!) Beautiful!

  • still brings a tear after oll this time

  • is that kelsey grammer?

i just looked this up because i'm singing this in my voice recital...it's beautiful!

  • Yes, that is Kelsey Grammer. As a matter of fact, he's my second favorite Ebeneezer Scrooge of all time. Patrick Stewart is first, with Michael Caine rounds out my Top 3. For those who may care, George C. Scott is my fourth favorite, and good old Scrooge McDuck from Mickey's Christmas Carol make my Top 5 Favorite Ebeneezer Scrooges.

  • I kind of liked Mr. Magoo as Scrooge, too.

  • A Christmas Carol is probably my favorite Christmas story.

  • I was in the stage version of this a few years ago. I still sing this song. It is so beautiful!

  • ive started to cry...

  • he plays sideshow bob in the simpsons

  • I watch this movie almost every day since I got it last Christmas!!

  • i absolutly love this film i watch it every chrismas it never gets old

  • Who knew Kelsey Grammer could sing! He was amazing in this movie. So was Ruthie Henshall. This brought tears to my eyes :(

  • tell me about it. this is my favorite adaptation. do you know what year this was? i'm trying to find the whole movie and i'm having trouble

  • 2004 :)

  • lol i was chosen as runner up to sing this song in the new york musical i still know the lyrics perfectly. my junior highschool chorus was the best. after puberty hit me my voice changed and now i cant sing. that sux

  • You can sing, you just need to train your voice all over again after puberty voice change. You should find a singing couch who can help you. Singing is gift, don't let it waste.

    Jozina

  • @jozina1 lol singing couch

  • @sunflowerfields4ever Yeah and singing chairs, tables, pots and pans. It's all possible in this day and age ;-).

  • @jozina1 lol singing couch.

  • i love this song! the melody, the lyrics - it all tells the meaning and beauty of christmas totally clear! i play it on each christmas and i always will!!! thank you sooo much for uploading it! without you, i wouldn´t even know it! thanks again!!!

  • u can buy that cd from that i own it

  • I want this cd sooo bad!!

  • In your heart there's a light As bright as a star in heaven Let it shine through the night and God bless us everyone Till each child is fed, Till all men are free Till the world becomes a family Star by star in the sky and Kindness by human kindness Let me love till I die and God bless us everyone
  • Let the stars in the sky

    Remind us of man's compassion

Let us love till we die and

    God Bless us everyone

  • Thank yoou sooooooo much !!!!

  • This song totally got me crying!

  • That makes two of us. -^.^-

  • i have to admit, this song got me a little teary eyed.

  • Anyone know where i can get it?

  • Id like to just get the words !

  • I'm sure you can google the words for it.

  • I remember when I sung this song on board way when I was 5 years old. I was an angel. I remember this song and it is my favorite one. Well if u don't believe me well whatever but I'll tell you this it really did happen. Iuv this song.

  • Board way ROFL. You spelled Broadway the broad way.

  • opps my bad. LOL, Im bad a typing

  • I LOVE this film!! :D :'/ so sad and still with a happy ending!

  • omg this is such a wonderful musical

I just finished doing it with a musical theater program

    it was so much fun

  • it's so cute, simply love the little girl <3

love the song n the film :D!

  • I know Alan Menken wrote the melodies for the songs; did he do the orchestrations too? Oh, and who wrote the text?

  • my chorus is doing this as part of a medley

  • 1:14, is that Scrooge's mother and sister?

If that is, I will cry so hard.

This is such a beautiful adaptation of A Christmas Carol. The songs are divine and the message is so true. A man who has love in his heart and family and friends by his side is never poor.

  • I believe it is them.

I loved right after they appear, the way Scrooge strongly and joyously joins in singing the last verse of the song. Seeing that, you can tell that he really has changed and intends on putting the messages of that beautiful song into practice in his own life from then on.

  • yes it is

  • Yeah it is his mother and sister

  • It is such a powerful moment when Scrooge looks up and sees his family there. I remember the first time I saw the film, that's where I really lost it. This is such a beautiful song and it's lyrics are completely true.

  • Aww i GOt to Sing this for my last year of Choirs in high school

  • I think this is the part where Scrooge starts to get it.

  • Well, as I recall, Scrooge started to "get it" during the Christmas Present segment, but this part (The end of the Christmas Future segment) was what really fully drove home the message for him and completed his inner change.

This is such a beautiful song with such a lovely message, it always touches me inside.

  • that's what I ment. Here is when he really decided to change.

  • HUMMM REALLY I DIDNT KNOW GOD DUHH :D

  • we sung this song in school today :) was great fun, beautiful song

  • I just used this song to audition for the show, its really beautiful! Merry (early) Christmas everyone!

  • Post more videos of The Ghost of Christmas Past in this movie!

  • Her name is Grace Smythe, not Emily. lol :) that ok tho!

  • what is that part called? the little girl singing?

  • Her name is Emily Smythe. (I finally figured all this stuff out after watching YouTube clips) Her mother died and her father can't pay the rent and for funeral expenses. Mr. Smythe asks Scrooge if he can pay the rent late, and Scrooge refuses to let him pay. In the song "Nothing to Do with Me Part 2" Scrooge passes a funeral procession and sees the little girl again. He recognizes little Emily. She sings part of this song to him and her father pulls her away.

So there you have it! :D

  • Thanks alot!!!! im auditioning for this next weeks and this looks like a really cool part!

  • I thought it was Gracie Smythe?...

    ...

Cause that's the name of her character in our school's production of A Christmas Carol.

  • OMG!! I AM STOOPID!

    It is Grace (or Gracie!!)

Thanks for pointing that out! Where did I get Emily??? Dunno...but thanks for pointing that out! :D

  • ahaha. you're fine. This play has so many characters that its hard to remember who is who. :p

you probably got Emily(Young Ebenezer Scrooge's Love interest) and Grace mixed up.

  • :P

That's probably it! Thanks for pointing that out.

  • let the stars in the sky remind us of man's compassion

let us love til we die and god bless us everyone

in your heart there's a light as bright as a star in heaven

let it shine through the night and god bless us everyone

    til each chils is fed
