If by standard keypad you mean the numeric keypad for T9 typing, yes, it can.

i just wanna kno is that..i have the g1 and the online keyboard is the regular black version..and i see that the magic has a new one that i see in ur video..will that be for all htc magics..cua i could iof sworn on another video it was the same onscreen keyboard as the g1...please le me kno

That's a little complicated. From what I heard, there are two versions of the HTC Magic. In the states, it's called the myTouch, and it's a "Google Experience" phone, meaning it has a Google logo, and has no modifications at all. The G1 is one such phone. If the phone is sold as the HTC Magic, as it is in Singapore, then it means it's the same phone but with HTC enhancements such as the keyboard. So there's actually two versions of that phone.

Also, even on the HTC Magic, you can turn the HTC keyboard off and use the normal Android keyboard.

I believe you can find an option in the Android settings where you can choose which keyboard to use.

this is just an early model the actual phone that will be available for use WILL have landscape keyboard. so dont worry :)

oh, ok. Thanks cuz that's what keeps me away from the G1 (that and the physical keyboard), and the weird chin.

Sorry, I didn't know why it didn't cross our mind (for the second time) not to show off the landscape keyboard during filming. It does have it when you rotate the phone.

Also, this wasn't an early model. It was a production model. :)

Nope, I don't think so, but it's very close. The iPhone's strength is the iPod and the ever-increasing app store, while the Magic's strength is the highly customisability (in terms of what features you want using software), the notification bar and the ability to multi-task.

Does it have a file explorer like window mobile, or is it more like the iphone?

It can have a file explorer, but out of the box it doesn't have one. It's closer to the iPhone than Windows Mobile, but I won't say it IS like the iPhone completely. The fact that there's a card slot changes everything. On the Magic, for example, you'd save most of your documents on the memory card (at least that was what appeared to be the case with the unit we were playing with), so that's where a file explorer, folder structure for example come in. I'm not an expert with this question though.
