I once went to a big party on a farm and we all just crashed out on the lawn in our sleeping bags after a long night of heavy drinking. A little after dawn I was repeatedly awakened by peacocks, just few feet away from my head, making this call. What you can't tell from this video is that they are REALLY FUCKING LOUD. Let me tell you, it's the last thing you want to hear early in the morning when you've got a massive hangover. I was seriously temped to kill the damn things.

My parents have a flock of them on their farm. I grew up with them. They are only NOISY during mating season in the spring. They will also do a call before it rains as the males "warn" the rest of the flock to get under cover. They have a warning call for when strangers approach, but it's not the same kind of commotion as they do during the mating season. Trust me, it's way less annoying then a dog that barks 24/7!

uhhm, you know animals aren't exactly saints. A sloth will abondon its child and let it die from starvation on the ground if it has fallen out the tree. SPiders eat their mothers. If an animal ever decides that theres more mouths than food to feed it won't hesitate to abondon them. Animals can only survive through harsh loveless conditions which includes abondonement of those who are weaker, where only the strong can live and reproduce while the weak are left to die alone

Ha! Yeah I remember being in Florida as a Child and staying in a Motel right next to GatorLand (or GatorWorld I forget which). i own a pair of peafowl. you get used to the noise after awhile. they make great watchdogs, they let me know whenever someone is driving/walking down the driveway, and at the door.

Not the best bird to own if you have nearby neighbors though..The police can fine you if it becomes an ongoing :"disturbance."

Making noise is natural to them. So, no grounds to dislike them.
