This knot is specified in the handbook of the West Valley Flying Club as the correct way to secure an aircraft at the tie-down. I am not an expert on knots I believe that compared to a standard bowline, this knot can more easily be tied so that the rope is taut.
I know the demo was made in good faith, but it was more like a video to hide what you are trying to show with a bunch of fingers and thumbs
