I think they were scared that Ariza couldn't keep up the results. If you can recall there was a time when vujacic's performance went up as well and the next season those skills we saw were rarely to be seen. So why pay more for uncertainty when for the same money you can get a solid player? They've been chewing the possibilities of having Artest for more than 3 years now, before Ariza ever came into mind. Its sad, I love Ariza and wish him luck, I hope he comes back home someday.
