  • @chrisblack767 lots and lots and lots of practice..

  • 7,3??? Holy shit Im in 7th grade im 5,4 I jump only 4,10 I know its bad.. but hopefully someday I could jump like you!

  • My school record is 6'7 and im in 8th grade

  • you can scissor my school record

  • see how he stuck his hands up and no one was there hahah

  • man u have some serious skill. I did high jump this year and i have a decent vertical...32 inches. But i can only get 5'10. i dont know how to have a proper approach tho...whats the norm for an aproach? thanks alot

  • gese man are u sure u didnt make like michael jackson and turn white bc u have to have some black in u

  • Dude what the fuck ..... That scissor is far beyond what I can normally jump

  • HOW!?!

  • srsly

  • I had to jump in the rain the other day. It was so bad some of the people i worse jumping against fell over and one hit their head on the bar... I hate the rain and jumping :(

  • how come you haven't jumped in a meet or been on the USA list in the last couple of years?

  • whats your vertical running and standing

  • Reminds me of Dwight Stones at the '76 Olympic Games and the troubles he had in the rains. That's the same issue all speed jumpers have, once the surface gets wet, it's nearly impossible to keep your speed in the run up without slipping.

Nice technique BTW,(although nearly 3 years ago) you have any hopes of competing again?

  • that was one of the best scissor kicks ive even seen, the only person ive seen kick higher than that was high jump legend stefan holm, great job

  • you got some crazy skills i can scissor 5'4" and using normal form i can get 6" but im only a freshman

  • your 7'3 jump was a 7'5 jump

  • damn! ur goooddd

  • oh damn!

  • ur good man.

    whats ur PB?

  • if you were to scoot your entire approach to the right 2 feet you would be jumping over the center (lowest part) of the bar. you could save your self SOME trouble...

  • What's ur name! why did i never see u on television!

    Ur GOOOD man!

  • holy shit did you really just do that?????????

  • Dude dont beat yourself up about it i feel good when i get about 5'2 tell me what you do to jump that high cause im in the 9th grade and i can only jump 5'4 as my best leave me a message so i can learn from a pro such as yourself

  • I have a question: If I can clear 4`10" by barely jogging my way up to the bar and having crappy form, about how high can I jump if I RUN my way up to the bar and have correct form?

  • Probably a little over 6 feet.

  • well, your form can always get better but you should easily be able to add 4 or so inches by working hard for a few weeks

  • it ur actually doing everything right u could definitely get at least a couple inches higher!! idk 5 2 or 5 4 just guessing tho but the more u practice the better ull get so u should learn more about it!

  • Im 14 years old, this is my first year of sports and I'm able to clear 4`10". Is that good, bad, or average or what?

  • i am the exact age , exact height, and too have only one year on me. But that is a good jump for our age. What state do you live in and what county?

  • clear do you mean high jump or jump over?

  • what exercises do you do for your vertical?

  • ur so beast how old ru

  • You make me feel so bad! My PR is only 4'6" But then again, this is my first year, and it is almost the best in hour conference! LOL that is sad, but was only a 7th grader!

  • dude this is seriously fucking amazing, im jealous, what like excersizes do you do to help your jump?

  • you have sick ups

  • lol

  • I'm highly skeptical. We're to take your measurements at face value? Your run up at 7'3" is way shorter than most elite jumpers. And although your for is good, it's not great. And the differential between the bar at 7'3" and your height doesn't seem even close to 10-12".

  • who gives a shit hes a great jumper. you have no room to talk i would love to see you get even close to makeing that.

  • This guy is Dan Olson. He had a PB of 7'4" in high school (which he has a video of on youtube).

And there is clearly about a 10" difference or so from his head to the bar on his last step.

Real jumpers would know that ;)

  • dam son

  • how tall are you?

  • wow. thats beyond impressive

  • you're really good at high jumping!

  • i was like all, BULL SHIT on the 6'6 scissor. then i was like all DAMN!!!!!!!!

  • Dude, that is fucking awesome. You've probably gotten this question many times but: Do you know any good workouts to increase height? Also if there's any advice on your technique as well. Cheers broski

  • haha i did the scissor at 5'8" in practice. That is so much fun

  • damn that's really nice how old are you?

  • holy shit that scissor is sick.

i've watched like all your videos lol yeaa whats your vertical? or is it more perfecting your technique??

  • have you ever just tried long jump for the lol's?

  • diddnt her jump it wrnoggG ?

  • damn thats sick if thats how high it is...

    nice scisors tho!

  • how tall are u

  • who are you?!

    what's your name?

  • the scissor one is epic

  • what the.....

  • with straddle he may jump over 2.30m...

  • good god, that is my pr. haha, then again im only 5'9". but o well. haha

  • holy crap, I can't even comprehend 7'3".

  • damn white boy can jump

  • Keep it up!

  • jumped 1.5

  • stefan holm can do 2.10 or 2.20 in scissor kick

  • Dude are you like on steroids cause that's just insane!

  • nice jump and move on

  • You're pretty awesome.

  • cant yall just say it was a nice jump and move on?

  • ur going to set the new world record.....maybe

  • damn u got some good jumps the most ive jumped is 5'5 and im a 7th grader but to scissor 6'6 is amazing

  • i jumped 5'10 as a 6th grader but your still good

  • Yeah, ok. Keep telling yourself that.

  • why are you making a different run up especially for when it's wet? you've got 7mm spikes on, just stop being such a pussy. if you can't jump unless it's all sunshine and lollypops, you're gonna fail.

    x

  • its a scissor kick and of course it is legal in a track meet, its just showing off, and btw every high jump is off one foot...

  • Haha thats pretty coo...but i will never jump in rain again...i slipped and fell and then there was alot of blood with was weird cause i didnt feel it till after i got up and jumped again and it was all over the mat...which the other team wasnt to happy about haha

  • Lol, if this is legal at a track meet, you should totally do this. It is off one foot and all. ;]

  • i believe it is leal. as long as you don't knock of the bar.

  • that would be sick

  • High Jump is THE best event in Track and Field. I love it... but i kind of suck.... but I am getting better! This guy is awesome

  • Who are you?

  • how tall r u

  • hey are you the same abused goat from all the halo 2 and 3 forums and everything?

  • yeah r u?

  • um i was actually talking to ABUSED GOAT not you, burgerking...you're not funny.

  • im a 6'5 freshman and i can only clear 1:50 (dont know in feet and inches) any tips. seriously

  • CRAP

  • Oh wow. Looking at this video makes me reeally wanna try at my track meet . I'm in a 7/8 split and is harder since I'm in gr.7 the the olders WILL be you know, better. Half of the class could do scissors and I'd be doing the flop . Worse? I'm can't MAKE what they do. I need tips and how to work on my "flop" or scissors. I don't have long legs! Send me message please.

  • your good. im 15 and my PR is 6'2

  • your head comes really close to the standard though lol

  • dude your hella good at high jump

  • yo not to make you mad but my best jumps are in the rain. i am a freshman in virginia, and i only cleared 6 feet, but i hope to be were you are when i am in college.

  • No, that's totally cool. In high school I always did well in the rain. However it gets harder when you keep running that turn..

  • ya i hear you, i just shorten my steps, so i dont slip you know.

  • it was amazingggg wow

  • yea what brwn08la...said ...how did you get better

  • ~DAMN!..HE HAS TO BE AT LEAST 6'sumptin fett tall!..iM ONLY 5'7" (Sophomore) AND i CLEARED 6'2"...FiNALLY!~

  • how do you work to do that. . . what exercises do you do. . .

I am a sr. in hs and have been doing the high jump for 3 years

my best in 6'2 but i am capable of 6'4 if not higher. . .

what can i work on to get better

  • get a coach.

  • i just shit myself!

  • ugh my marks been off anyone have a couple other ways to get my mark

*im using the 5-19 steps from the standards*

  • Use a tape measurer. Instead of steps, use the distances. Form a triangle to get a 3rd distance to keep it consistent. (A^2+B^2=C^2)

  • haha wtf?

  • i got 5'4 in 7th grade

  • i got 5'4" in 8th grade...

  • i am only in 7th grade and doing track this year and i had a track meet last night and i jump high jump and i jumped 4 foot 4 inches

  • thats not very good, i got 4'8'' in 7th grade

  • i do about 4' 11"

  • i had 5' 1

  • last year 8th grade my best was 4'10" but today, the second day of high jump, i did 5'1" which totally made my day.

  • i jumped 5'1" in 7th, 5'2" in eighth, 5'10" in 9th, and now as a sophomore, last night i cleared 6'2" in my first meet

  • thats hott

  • with those heights you could be competing nationally and nearly interenationally :O

  • well done jumps

  • szacunek xD

  • AMASING.6'6 scissor jump.

  • When I was competing this summer I was 175-177. (Sorry I don't know metric.) However, I'm probably about 182-185 right now as I haven't done a lot of training. I am living in a different location and am still looking for a place to train... should know whether it's gonna happen after a week.

  • You said you were planning on dropping another 10 to 15 pounds for competing next year, that seems like a lot, how much do you weigh now?

  • wow, amazing, you're my new high jump hero. That scissor kick was crazy. I wish I could get even close to that with a regular flop jump. My best scissor kick is only 5'2". A couple more inches and you compete on the world stage?

  • are you a pro?

  • It was still really humid/warm out. Maybe I'm crazy too?

  • Why do you jump without a shirt in rain?

  • Yeah. Had State quals the next week and managed a sloppy 6'7/2.01m in the rain. Then went 2.03 (states), 2.06 (foot locker natls), 2.11(usatf jr natls regional), 2.15(usatf jr natls) over the summer.

  • His feet go out of the approach curve, but the center of mass is still probably over it, which I'm pretty sure is how it's supposed to be. It just looks exagerated because of the 3 step curve.

  • That's pretty intersting. Did you start using an approach with fewer steps after that meet, like you use in a lot of your videos?

  • It happened my junior year in high school when I was messing around. It was late in the outdoor season and I was stuck at 6'6 or 6'8 for every meet. I had the standard 10 step approach for those heights. I was messing around and picked a random spot fairly close in and ran the 'approach' and put up huge height I had never seen before. I cleared 6'7 that day by something like 5-7 inches and should have easily PRed that day but it was near the end of a long practice so I stopped.

  • Dan, I've never seen anyone step out of their approach curve (in your case to the left) on their last three steps. Most jumpers run a fairly smooth approach curve. How'd you come up with your unique, successful approach?

  • wow

  • Yeah, I saw a guy at Districts slip on his last attempt because of the rain...it cost him going to State.
