if i may add something, i like this cd much, im danishbut in blood im 25% irish, i dont know the other bands, but i think its a good version tho, and its a half danish half irish put together band, and il also add, that johnny didnt wantet to make the cd at first, but he did it course he have really really manny danish fan,s also becourse he understands to give us ther songs and was one of the first singers from ireland which opned our eyes really for the irish music , and thank god for that.
Disgraceful. Johnny logan should leave irish traditional music alone and go back to not winning the eurovision song contest. Best version of this song is Christy moore's version from his 1964-2004 6 disc box set. Just Christy and his acoustic Guitar, but he gives it more life and fills it with more of the genuine beautiful irish tongue than any other version i've heard.
Yes, it is definitely not one of the best versions, but it's quite catchy anyway. Though, in my opinion I would without a doubt go for Ronnie Drew's version, and The Clancy Brothers second; they are singing it quite well too.
yes, I guess Logan's version of The Irish Rover is good when thinking about the Irish spirit(^^), but Ronnie Drew's version I'd say is still better. Thus, what do you think about The Clancy Brothers? I have listened to a few of their song, but I haven't decided wheter I prefer them over other Irish singers/bands.
I first heard Johnny Logan singing "The town I loved so well" in 1988 and it blew me away. I just had to find the song on record, but the only version I could find was "The Dubliners". I have listened to quite a bit of their music. but no-one sing the song as great as Johnny Logan
Saw Johnny sing this song live in a greek club in Cyprus and he was brilliant, even the locals who probabaly didnt understand a word were so amazed at his style, great song , great singer, thanks for the post
Love it!

I can't agree on that. It's a good cover by Logan but The Dubliners are still the ones in my opinion who're performing the song best.

maybe you should consider "the irish rover"'s version, that fits better into irish spirit.

nicely put, i second that
