My first time watching the show and while it's a little corny, it still beats the crap out of the new movie. I mean, this show was a lot like Batman tv show and Batman had some decent 80's movies and two brilliant modern movies from Christopher Nolan. Why the hell didn't Green Hornet get such a good film?!

I too find it horrible that the new Green Hornet was not at all like the old Green Hornet. I did not choose to go see it bc I could tell from the trailer they had Green Hornet so unlike the real GH.

IMO this is The Green Hornet. I just watched the new movie that came out and it was terrible. I usually like Seth Rogen movies too but that movie ughhhh. He barely fought any bad guys, he was just a bumbling idiot. Does anyone know where I can purchase this series on dvd?

Its to bad modern day films have turned the hornet into a silly boob and kato the brains. I deplore "hollywood " and the "liberties" film makers are allowed with classic charecters to interpret as whim strikes them. the stupid comedian in the recent theatrical green hornet film is a slam at all true hornet fans everywhere. the old tv series is far more respectful of both the hornet and kato!

@darkstarfear : No The Green Hornet preceded the Batman series. Both shows did have the same production company (20th Century Fox) and executive producer William Dozier. I know some folks watching these clips today will find them hokey. However, this series was played 100% straight. Unlike the Batman series which was intentionally campy. Which IMO makes the Batman crossover episodes even odder.

it said in a book on bruce lee that he was so fit that if he stood 3 feet from you with his arms pointing straight down it would take 1/20 of a second to hit you, so they had to film some fight scenes in slow motion. also he could snatch a dime from an open palm and leave a penny before the other person closes his palm.

The concept of bad guy/good guy played real well

why this show failed...

1.  corny voice from Batman used for intro. Average viewer thinks "aw crap another travesty"

2. Bruce Lee as a SERVANT!!! Come on! Britt Reid don't know how to do nutthin! Kato is the star and he says nothing, does nothing (but fight), and is played as a stooge!!

3. Costumes! Needed something more threatening! the serial had it right with a full face mask.

4. Background music. too loud too jazzy and not building suspense!

5. LACK of SUSPENSE!

fyi Kevin Smith is no longer attached to the Green Hornet film, and hasn't been for quite some time. The new film is written by Rogen and his partner Evan Goldberg and will be directed by Stephen Chow (Kung Fu Hustle) who also stars as Kato.

Because they're all black market, and the copy quality wasn't that good. ALL of mine are the same way, it's near impossible to watch the night scenes, and Bruce's one Gung Fu fight with Mako is barely visible enough.

The Black Beauty is a customized 1965 Chrysler Imperial. The Batmobile was based on the Lincoln Futura, a futuristic Ford concept car built in 1955. The body modifications were designed by famed Hollywood customizer George Barris.
