I was a small boy with my parents having been invited in a party, I think in a wedding party, Jamileh dancing. I fell in love with her, couldn't take her off my mind. Seriously. I couldn't eat or drink for a week or so. Lost a lot of weight. My parents didn't know what was going on. She was (and I am sure still is) so beautiful and by far the best belly dancer.
What year is this from? To me it looks really old, but I don't know if that's just because of the quality of it being uploaded onto youtube. 1950s? 60s?
i wish i could see iran free again and to be able to go there...its such a pain in the heart to now that i wasnt even born in my own home country...iran ..iran man...
What the hell ghartogh ur so extreme. The mullah's are ruining iran. Before khomeini started inforcing stuff and right after revolution people actually wanted to be religious , these mullah and "islamic" police are driving people away from religion. They're not infidels. Her name is jamile, a name from the Quran. That's a huge tohmat by saying she's an infidel. What you're doing is even worst than what she's doing. Go educate urself,
These people are obviously against Islam. Thank Allah for the Mullah's and the glorious Islamic police. Nowadays these infidels would be arrested and stoned to death....
Get a life. She represents the sort of thing you crazy religious finatics martyr yourselves for in the afterlife. There are 70virgin whores awaiting you in heaven and now these people are infidels because they choose to enjoy life here on earth while you are saving all the sex you are hoping to have for eternity. You are the perverted sex crazed parasite.
bebin, this is real bellydancing! the arabs took something that originated in ancient persia and turned it into something inappropriate and very showy. hich moghe, ke injoori nabood!Persians have respect and grace especially during dancing. zendebaad jamile. Its sad how woman in iran have been treated for the past few decades. Man khodam mohajabam, ama sad dar sad zede regime islami hastam. Elahi ye rooz iran azad bashe.
I'm Iranian. I'm learning traditional Egyptian folk dance. The traditional folk dance is not tawdry or inappropriate, as you say. It's the western culture that has made it so.
Everything started in ancient persian? Whats next, rock and roll, jazz, i am sure it started in ancient persian... according to africans, persians and indians everything started in their ancient cultures. Hahaha u guys are so funny.
That is not correct, lebnaniapride, the song is purely Iranian, not Egyptian Arabic. The tempo of the song, the rhythm and the tune are authentically Iranian (more specifically Persian), and Arabic lyrics could never be set to this tune, which was made for Persian lyrics, and in terms of cadence and meter only Persian lyrics would fit this tune, which is even further proof that this it is 100 percent Iranian and Persian.
this is Iranian, not arabic or Egyptian. I think the dancing doesn't quite match the fast tempo of the music. It could be that they're trying to mix arabic belly dancing with persian dance, but it isn't working.
'sooo aslow and boring?!!' Its called body and muscle control, which is required from any dancer regardless of her ethnic background or dance genre of the performance. I suggest you do some research on dance before you speak.
You call this bellydancing? And the last I checked it was an Egyptian dance.. for all dance enthusiasts on here do not let this mislead you.. try searching "suheir zaki" if you wanna see a REAL dancer.
cant u see how dinamic she is. All those so called Egyptian dancer are sooooo aslow and boring. The most important thing is the fast movement of chest and hips which none of them has shown except Jamileh.
First, there are many different types of belly dancing, not just Egyptian. What the Iranians dance comes from southern Iran, which has a substantial Arabic speaking population. Thus a form of belly dancing is very legitimately Iranian.
Iranians from south iran dance bandari which is very close to khaliji, however it is not belly dancing. A while ago someone posted a video of her dancing to EGYPTIAN music w/ orchestra. Her dancing is way too fast and doesn't flow to the music.
