Well, I think both pianists shown in this video collection are doing quite well, and you can tell they are really learning from a master...also being very respectful of him at the same time. Gifted is such an awful term, and no young musician on stage at a prestigious conservatory with a master musician is going to be free of nerves...so I think with all the mental and physical pressure, these students are showing many very human qualities of what it is to be alive and learning an art form.

Thanks for posting these videos of this class. I had planned to attend but couldn't and regret missing this master. To bad about the ignorant views regarding Asian musician ship. Don't you think that's a little bigoted? The whole point of the class is to dispense life long knowledge from a great master and to absorb as much as you can. duh!

This particular pianist was the least gifted of the three and had no expression whatsoever, and what's worse, couldn't appy what Brendel was telling him about simple tempo.

Asians play like they want to finish up their homework fast in order to go play video games. They will never be able to cultivate the passionate spirit necessary for art because they are wired up a totally different way.
