it was hard work, it was dangerous work, but it was honest work! My family comes from that part of the country as well. A man used to do what he had to in order to provide for his family.nowa days these so-called men need to take a page from our dadd'y books an step up to be a real man.get a job, take care of your kids, stay out of jail!
fro the 80's until today when i watched the movie the "coal miner's daughter" i saw only Loretta. now whenever i see that movie or pass through Virginia, i'll think for a moment about you and you daddy
them were the good old days wernt they?! My parents grew up in western PA. Not exactly VA. but some of the stories my mom told me of growing up in a big family in the country lifestyle..........good ol' days!! Better than these days. Nice pics by the way. my grandpa was a miner before he became a electrician. I remer him singing the song "dark as a dungeon" and playing gaitar and drinkin with the friends and family. Great memories! thanks! "god bless you!
Thank you for your kind words. The coal mines was such a large part of my childhood. I am forever grateful and humbled to be a child of a coal miner. I admire anyone who has the strength and determination to this kind of work......and, of course, I miss my father dearly.
Thank you for taking the time to comment...it means so much to me.
That was very touching. Thanks for sharing. Being a former child of poverty (my mother washed laundry for a living), I have a soft spot for people like Loretta Lynn and yourself.
Very nice!!
