Bartulis was done for the season with a dislocated shoulder and torn labrum..........i had that same injury and wound up with 6 screws in my shoulder......not fun!
You idiots can day anything bad you want about the flyers. The fact of the matter is that we are in 1st place in the east and according to a lot of people on here, theyre all goons. And someone commented here saying Giroux is a dirty player just like Hartnell and Carcillo? Are you fucking retarded?
Do any of you remeber the days when we actually played hockey? it was a hit, maybe a little late nothing ugly and shoulder to shoulder what is the problem. Damn back when this was Canada's game it was not a period unit some one tryed to take your head off with their real made of wood stick!!!!
@elwood2202 i agree the hit wasn't late at all the retard shoulda had his head up, pussies in the NHL are gettin to be like soccer players crying when they get tripped or pushed, what has the NHL come to, to be honest SM-liiga is more fun to watch
To all you flyers fans, if u think this was not a clean hit, watch your fucking faggot players like Hartnell, carcillo and giroux. If u really think that was a bad hit, lets see how Hartnell hit on krejci. He is ATLEAST not that kind of a scum bag ur flyers shit team is full of.
@hockeymatt1994 One thing that many fans don't understand is that it's not the games that they are suspended...it's the money they lose. Because of that, 2 games is far too much.
I thought you were supposed to stop at the puck in front of the goal not go through a defenseman and then sit behind the net. how are you supposed to pick up a rebound behind the goal line and put it upstairs where it belongs? i suppose maybe the michigan but upshall doesnt have enough talent to do that i dont hink
im not happy to see any player injured cause i know it sucks not being able to play hockey for any reason. you idiots who think this is dirty need to shut up and quit watching hockey. not even a second goes by between when bartulis trys to help bob cover the puck by putting his stick in there all before the whistle is blown. bartulis had his head down while making a play which is a big no no. so you cant say he never touched the puck, it was late or it was dirty/boarding. just shut up already.
guys, you should get some fucking respect. "clean hit. bartulis was diving. flyers fucking suck". lets see what happens if you'll get a hit like that...
Upshall knows the play is dead; he does not try to knock the puck away from the goalie; he looks away from the puck and straight at Bartulis before he lays him out. Bartulis has stopped playing; you can see him raise his stick and head as he knows the play is also dead. And for absolutely no reason and without excuse, Upshall charges into Bartulis. A skater as good as Upshall could have put on the brakes. No different than an intentional, blind sided hit in my opinion
@HabsFanTom Are you stupid? Flyers don't cheapshot...when was the last suspension for something dirty given to a Flyer? Like last year, Mike Richards' hit on Booth...Your obviosly not a good fan if your hoping to see Flyers players get hurt...pathetic.
@HabsFanTom It's not about Karma, it's about "Why the fuck would hit a player without the puck?" See I'm from Canada, but I hate THE LOSER HABS...so even if like Subban would get injured, I wouldn't say "Haha he's a Habs player, good, hes injured" that's just poor...
@HabsFanTom The Habs can't play dirty, no shit, they got no team, no fighters, no hitters, they are intimidated by the Flyerans/Bruins and that's why they wont win a cup anytime soon, because they can't play physical.
@lolmurphlol they have the best power play in the league and teams take the most penalties against them so they score on the PP (power play) and most use IP sniffers so they don't need to be physical
@MrPakiChan Best power play, who cares, they still can't be the teams with the most penalties (Flyers/Boston), and they still aren't 1st in the standings, they only reason that they have good power plays is because they play against shitty teams like Toronto and New-York (Islanders) and get power plays that they capitalize on. So anyway, I couldn't care less about they're power play, they still suck bro. And still can't play physical.
@lolmurphlol who cares if they can't beat boston or the flyers they still have the best powerplay, you don't need to be physical when you have enough poise to score gionta was drafted 82nd overall , 5"7 small kid, 173 pounds coming out of rochester NY and he's better than anyone on the bruins and flyers, he won rookie of the year in 94 and won it again in 98. solid player who plays real hockey and can score.
@MrPakiChan Sorry to burst your bubble, but Gionta sucks. Couple of facts: If he was that good...why is he not the best player in his team? I have the newspaper in front of me: Top 32 players in points.
Gionta: 22g - 11a for a total of 33 points.
Richards: 19g - 33a for a total of 52 points.
Giroux: 21g - 37a for a total of 58 points.
Carter: 28g - 27a for a total of 55 points.
Briere: 28g - 23a for a total of 51 points.
Hmm what were you saying about Gionta better than any flyers player?
@MrPakiChan I'm pretty sure you are out of arguments, can't come up with a better one. And can't admit that the Flyers are better than the fucking shitty Habs. So yeah, you shouldn't bother replying...
@lolmurphlol they're better physically not better in the scoring and goaltending department boston is pretty close to the habs, once they habs get their D back whom are injured your boner boys are in for the lickin of a lifetime
Ahaha yeah as if your precious Gil, Gorges and Markov were the best scorers and will beat Philly, sure man, your Habs lost to Philly in 5 games last year remember? And Philly wasn't half the team they are this season, do yourself a favor and get the facts before randomly saying shit. Not only do Philly have more goals. They have less scored against them.Kthxba
@MrPakiChan oh and just for the record, Boston have 6 points over the Habs, they have 194 goals for and 147 against, and creamed the Habs like 8-6 and intimidated them all game. Nice try though. -.-
@lolmurphlol ok Mr.wealth of knowledge boston has 6 points which is only 3 more wins= nothing. and if you consider 8-6 creaming then you're fucked. the bruins licked them hit after hit and STILL only won by 2 goals, that's emabarassing not to mention if you put any other team in that game instead of montreal it would have been 8-0 the habs are better you can look at wins all you wan't but they have poise and potential to win. Neither of your boner teams are winning a cup anytime soon.
@MrPakiChan Ok bro it's not the 2 goal diff. that we're looking at. It's the fact that the Habs have shitty defence and got 8 goals scored against, Boston 6, but I dont care about that. I find it funny that all the fights were at the end, because if they were at the beginning, the game would of changed. Any other team playing Boston would have made it a better game, not to mention the Flyers beat Boston last year in the playoffs, you should look it up. Your team has no potential, no physical End
@lolmurphlol boston has just as shitty defense then, 2 goals isn't much. if the fights were at the beggining both teams would've lost good players that doesn't mean shit your boner boys arent goin anywhere. the golden seals practically have the cup in there hands. learn some SM-liiga knowledge before you bash petel forsbelg
@MrPakiChan well my boner boys include the solid goaltending of david abischer the tough fighting of wayne gretzky, the hard nosed board work of pavel bure, the rocket snipes of jeremy roenick, and the leadership qualities of eric dejardins. cant forget the oefensive poise and puck control of brian leetch
@MrPakiChan shut up kid. if bourque was playing then it would have been 8-3 (because chara and ference would have been on for the 3 other goals) and now that Boston has Thomas Kaberle, you can bet yuor flaring asshole that pheonix will surely finish ahead of montreal in the east, as will detroit ( even without federov) and hartford will probly only finish a few points behind montreal, because their roster has great defensive poise and they can produce double dion's
@TheSpencel whatever kid ill give you credit the whalers are looking strong this season but without paul coffey and ron francis the team's falling apart, who knows they might get moved to carolina. But to be honest the golden seals are gonna probably win the cup this year with douglas murray drafted 1st overall 6"5 237 pounds solid at the blue line and great puck handling in the neutral zone, key player. tis other kids boner boys ain't goin no where until philly gets neidermayer back
@MrPakiChan wow kid you have no common sense. So wat if Ron is out? they still have Ferraro, gordie howe, bobby hull, and brendan shanahan. And lets not forget how the kings are doing, with Marty mcsorly, newly 3rd overall draft pick, Aki Berg, and who couldnt count out Robitaille and Gretzky. So in my eyes the whalers, kings, and alright i guess the golden seals have a shot, and lets not forget the nordiques. I mean theyve got [plenty of great offensive poise and brilliant board work, (sundin)
@TheSpencel ill give you credit for the great offensive poise by the nordiques and i totally forgot about Aki Berg aka Daddys girl. theres gonna be eyes on him tommorow at the trade deadline. let's not forget the golden seals are lookin to relocate to cleveland to becom the barons. and the alex monkey kid is a top prospect whom i hear can really act like an animal on the ice and get in the other teams head. it's gonna be a race to the finish. who are your boner boys?
@MrPakiChan well my boner boys include the solid goaltending of david abischer the tough fighting of wayne gretzky, the hard nosed board work of pavel bure, the rocket snipes of jeremy roenick, and the leadership qualities of eric dejardins. cant forget the oefensive poise and puck control of brian leetch

@MrPakiChan my boner boys are probly leetch and lindros. I just love the way they are playing right now. They seem to have lots of confindence and defensive poise
@TheSpencel nice, my boner boys would have to be mogilny, he has 38 goals for the devils and luongo is staying strong between the pipes for the panthers. great at coming out of his crease and challengiing the play very fun to watch if you ask me.
@MrPakiChan oh yes and and i love the way that giguere is playing for the whalers. I personally dont think that barasso is playing all that great for the pens. hopefully pronger can help st.louis in the playoffs eh? you probably havnt heard of nik lidstrom, but he is a rookie for the wings and he looks great, look him up. yea i have to agree with how you like alex, but you have to admit that he hasnt been the same since that broken leg. i kinda wish him and bure stayed on vancouver, but o well
@lolmurphlol no, and i like philly. now that dejardins is the captain i think he can lead this club to the cup ( with the help of roenick and primeau). I also really like how we have a tough goalie (hextall) so now other bulldogs like tiger williams wont get away with anything!
@HabsFanTom Still catches up, and now, compared to Philly, you lost a player that is actually key to their success, oh wait, they have no success haha.
Wow man. As a Blackhawk fan, I have no emotional investment in any of this. You're painting a picture that I think is a bit much. First, as an athlete, you play to the whistle. End of story. Next, the puck was still in play and had not been gathered by the goalie. If you don't hit the defender, he can gather the rebound and clear the puck. Also, he certainly didn't "leave his feet". On contact, he DID drive into the man, but it was absolutely nothing extraordinary about that body check.
@boilerbuzz Well the puck was not in the play anymore when Upshall landed the hit as you can clearly see. I think the hit wasn't dirty only the timing was wrong. You should respect other players.
@Ghostfez You're talking about FRACTIONS of a second here. The collision was going to happen. But, we agree - it wasn't dirty. Dude just wasn't ready for it and flew into the wall, getting hurt. Major and ejection would have been fine. Suspending someone, should be for punishing someone with malice intent beyond the normal context of the game. This just doesn't fit. But, what's done is done.
Its definitely okay to push him in that general area. There are always scrums around the net after the goalie freezes the puck, but that was way too hard of a check. 2 game suspension is deserving.
@krisinto i dont know if im missing something but im pretty sure hitting a player who never touched the puck head first into the boards after the whistle is not exactly within the rules
@hockey8810 Bartulis was swatting at, or made contact with, the rebound. What's the defence supposed to do? Let him whack away at the goalie? The only reason there was a suspension was because poindexter busted his shoulder. Looked like a fine hit to me (and I'm not even a Coyotes fan).
@PKFlashOmega Reason #3394 to not comment on videos without glasses! My point still stands though. You probably wouldn't let the D just take the puck back into the play unmolested.
How was this not 5 and the game instead of two for boarding? Upshall knew or should have known that Bobrovsky had held the puck; it would also have helped if the referee had a quicker whistle.
The NHL is an absolute joke of a league. How can you suspend a player for staying within the rules (body checking) but allow players to fight? What a joke!
Upshall drilled a player who never touched the puck. That's why he's suspended. You can't just lay people out (they need to play the puck to do so per rules). In a vacuum, definitely a suspension. Given all the stuff the NHL hasn't suspended for in the last month or so, I'm shocked Upshall got something.
I'm also shocked Flyers fans would be upset about this. Isn't this just some good ol' time hockey and Bartulis deserved it for not paying attention? :) Flyer fans crying foul, ironic...
And the announcers have a bucket full of dicks in their ass and know nothing about the game by the reason that one of them said " it looked accidental" come open your fucking eyes it was intentional....
oskars bartulis left himself vulnerable by putting his head down like that and just staring at the crease. this play, yes it was way too hard and very unnecessary, is something that happens in every game. he was only suspended because bartulis is injured. while he deserved the penalty he didn't deserve a suspension. it was neither a head shot nor from the blind side. i don't understand.
@distilled720 I dont think he meant to hit him that hard. Obviously no justification, but he was driving hard to the net and had more steam than he could control. You see forwards bump dmen who are just defending their goalie all the time, but when you get a guy as strong as Upshall and as weak as Bartulis, and it ends like this. Terrible to see it, suspension completely deserved, but it seemed like an accident
If you think that is a "clean play" then you are screwed in the head. It is a late hit, upshall even admitted as much on twitter last night. Two game suspension deserved.
Clean hit before the whistle. Not boarding by any definition of the rule at all. The only reason they suspended Upshall is because Bartulis got hurt on a clean play. The league really needs to re-evaluate itself.
You know what sucks about all of this. We ALL know that there would not have been a suspension if he Bartulis didn't get hurt. So they let all that crap go and wait for someone to get hurt: THEN the league acts? What a bunch of crap.
@boilerbuzz It's not only because he was hurt...it's because its his HEAD. The league is now terrified about EVERYTHING involving the head all because of the media. fuck the media!
This is charging 4 minutes and tossed. Nothing additional.....Maybe 1 game because of the media craze...maybe
@dave1927p The NHL gets shellacked all the time for being too light. I think the two games are deserved (and im a yotes fan), not because the play was dirty, but more to get justice for an injured player
Yeah, it was to the head, but I think it LOOKED really scary, and the NHL would get shit if they didnt do anything
Let's see. He was above the goal line. He hit him with his shoulder on the front-right side of the body. So how is this anything more than a roughing penalty? Two game suspension for this? Because Bartulis wasn't ready for it? Garbage. Sucks he got hurt, but come on.
@boilerbuzz yup, your right - oh except usually you hit people who actually have possession of the puck.
.. seriously there was absolutely no need for that hit on that play goalie covered it welllll in time for him to stop and mad no indication he was playing it.
@TheWhiteFactor I give you that point. But we're talking about an act that happens all the time when the puck is in play near the goal. Guys are hitting, pushing, grabbing. It's all part of the game. If you're not prepared for contact in that situation, you're not thinking.
@boilerbuzz Except for the fact the players generally don't come from the blue line, and around one of their teammates who has stopped playing to leave their feet and drive the man into the boards from five yards away.
Truth is, this is the same hit Shelley (deservedly) got a two game suspension for earlier in the year.
he just got 2 games for this, the thing is if he didn't hit his head on the boards there would be no injury and probably no penalty, an unfortunate situation..
Bartulis was done for the season with a dislocated shoulder and torn labrum..........i had that same injury and wound up with 6 screws in my shoulder......not fun!

@TheSpencel whatever kid ill give you credit the whalers are looking strong this season but without paul coffey and ron francis the team's falling apart, who knows they might get moved to carolina. But to be honest the golden seals are gonna probably win the cup this year with douglas murray drafted 1st overall 6"5 237 pounds solid at the blue line and great puck handling in the neutral zone, key player. tis other kids boner boys ain't goin no where until philly gets neidermayer back
MrPakiChan 1 year ago
@MrPakiChan wow kid you have no common sense. So wat if Ron is out? they still have Ferraro, gordie howe, bobby hull, and brendan shanahan. And lets not forget how the kings are doing, with Marty mcsorly, newly 3rd overall draft pick, Aki Berg, and who couldnt count out Robitaille and Gretzky. So in my eyes the whalers, kings, and alright i guess the golden seals have a shot, and lets not forget the nordiques. I mean theyve got [plenty of great offensive poise and brilliant board work, (sundin)
TheSpencel 1 year ago
@TheSpencel ill give you credit for the great offensive poise by the nordiques and i totally forgot about Aki Berg aka Daddys girl. theres gonna be eyes on him tommorow at the trade deadline. let's not forget the golden seals are lookin to relocate to cleveland to becom the barons. and the alex monkey kid is a top prospect whom i hear can really act like an animal on the ice and get in the other teams head. it's gonna be a race to the finish. who are your boner boys?

@MrPakiChan my boner boys are probly leetch and lindros. I just love the way they are playing right now. They seem to have lots of confindence and defensive poise

@TheSpencel nice, my boner boys would have to be mogilny, he has 38 goals for the devils and luongo is staying strong between the pipes for the panthers. great at coming out of his crease and challengiing the play very fun to watch if you ask me.
MrPakiChan 1 year ago

@HabsFanTom Still catches up, and now, compared to Philly, you lost a player that is actually key to their success, oh wait, they have no success haha.
lolmurphlol 11 months ago
On contact, he DID drive into the man, but it was absolutely nothing extraordinary about that body check.
boilerbuzz 1 year ago
@boilerbuzz Well the puck was not in the play anymore when Upshall landed the hit as you can clearly see. I think the hit wasn't dirty only the timing was wrong. You should respect other players.
Ghostfez 1 year ago
@Ghostfez If the hit wasn't dirty then why was he given a 2 game suspension and ended Bartulis' season?
lolmurphlol 1 year ago
@Ghostfez You're talking about FRACTIONS of a second here. The collision was going to happen. But, we agree - it wasn't dirty. Dude just wasn't ready for it and flew into the wall, getting hurt. Major and ejection would have been fine. Suspending someone, should be for punishing someone with malice intent beyond the normal context of the game. This just doesn't fit. But, what's done is done.
boilerbuzz 1 year ago
@burgh55
You can't demolish the player standing next to the puck carrier at any time in the NHL. ......period.
mcsemcsa 1 year ago
@mcsemcsa you obviously have never watched hockey because they allow clearing out in front of the net all the time.

@saj1913
Never watched hockey lol! Played AAA for 8 years in Canada with 5 future NHL players. Keep yakking fan boy!
mcsemcsa 1 year ago
Its definitely okay to push him in that general area. There are always scrums around the net after the goalie freezes the puck, but that was way too hard of a check. 2 game suspension is deserving.
sarahhewitt14 1 year ago
I didn't hear a whistle until the moment of contact by Upshall, and the dude is at the goal line 11 feet away from the boards.
Sharp had a similar play on Sunday and didn't get called for a penality

Cheap hit. As a Flyers fan, I supported Upshall even after he got traded, but now he's on my shit list for this. Completely unnecessary.
punkrockr912 1 year ago
@krisinto i dont know if im missing something but im pretty sure hitting a player who never touched the puck head first into the boards after the whistle is not exactly within the rules
hockey8810 1 year ago

AEMoreira81 1 year ago
Such a greasy hit!! no need to hit a player when the goalie has the puck covered!! Suspension is well deserved.
ziggyboypat 1 year ago
I feel for Bartulis, he is really coming along and I hope Bartulis will be okay!
zonkedforlife2 1 year ago
The NHL is an absolute joke of a league. How can you suspend a player for staying within the rules (body checking) but allow players to fight? What a joke!
krisinto 1 year ago
@krisinto You can only body-check the player with the puck or who has just passed off the puck.
AEMoreira81 1 year ago
@AEMoreira81
You can body check if the puck and player are in the same area, with or without possession, or recent possession
burgh55 1 year ago
Upshall drilled a player who never touched the puck. That's why he's suspended. You can't just lay people out (they need to play the puck to do so per rules). In a vacuum, definitely a suspension. Given all the stuff the NHL hasn't suspended for in the last month or so, I'm shocked Upshall got something.
I'm also shocked Flyers fans would be upset about this. Isn't this just some good ol' time hockey and Bartulis deserved it for not paying attention? :) Flyer fans crying foul, ironic...
bhawes27 1 year ago
@bhawes27 You'd be crying foul too if this happened to someone on your team...

Yeah, he clearly doesnt know hockey. Go fuck yourself retard
hockeymatt1994 1 year ago
oskars bartulis left himself vulnerable by putting his head down like that and just staring at the crease. this play, yes it was way too hard and very unnecessary, is something that happens in every game. he was only suspended because bartulis is injured. while he deserved the penalty he didn't deserve a suspension. it was neither a head shot nor from the blind side. i don't understand.
heartagrambam666 1 year ago
@heartagrambam666 wow.....I don't even know where to start...
644tad 1 year ago
Wasn't a board by any means but late and unsportsmanlike considering the puck was covered by Bobs and the play was indeed dead and Upshall knew it...
distilled720 1 year ago
@distilled720 I dont think he meant to hit him that hard. Obviously no justification, but he was driving hard to the net and had more steam than he could control. You see forwards bump dmen who are just defending their goalie all the time, but when you get a guy as strong as Upshall and as weak as Bartulis, and it ends like this. Terrible to see it, suspension completely deserved, but it seemed like an accident
hockeymatt1994 1 year ago
If you think that is a "clean play" then you are screwed in the head. It is a late hit, upshall even admitted as much on twitter last night. Two game suspension deserved.
cnathanpiv 1 year ago 25
@cnathanpiv are you an idiot late hit? the whistle blew when he hit the boards. you play till the whistle.

@cnathanpiv it should be more than 2 and hes a former flyer
dlonghornsfan 1 year ago
Clean hit before the whistle. Not boarding by any definition of the rule at all. The only reason they suspended Upshall is because Bartulis got hurt on a clean play. The league really needs to re-evaluate itself.

So if a guy gets hit at center ice, and some how manages to slide into the boards from where he was hit, are they gonna call that boarding as well?
n8vdude 1 year ago
You know what sucks about all of this. We ALL know that there would not have been a suspension if he Bartulis didn't get hurt. So they let all that crap go and wait for someone to get hurt: THEN the league acts? What a bunch of crap.
boilerbuzz 1 year ago
@boilerbuzz It's not only because he was hurt...it's because its his HEAD. The league is now terrified about EVERYTHING involving the head all because of the media. fuck the media!
This is charging 4 minutes and tossed. Nothing additional.....Maybe 1 game because of the media craze...maybe
dave1927p 1 year ago
@dave1927p The NHL gets shellacked all the time for being too light. I think the two games are deserved (and im a yotes fan), not because the play was dirty, but more to get justice for an injured player
Yeah, it was to the head, but I think it LOOKED really scary, and the NHL would get shit if they didnt do anything
hockeymatt1994 1 year ago
lost all respect for uppie.. bartulis had no chance at defending himself.. im glad he got suspended
hoppybunnycheeks99 1 year ago
Let's see. He was above the goal line. He hit him with his shoulder on the front-right side of the body. So how is this anything more than a roughing penalty? Two game suspension for this? Because Bartulis wasn't ready for it? Garbage. Sucks he got hurt, but come on.
boilerbuzz 1 year ago
@boilerbuzz yup, your right - oh except usually you hit people who actually have possession of the puck.
.. seriously there was absolutely no need for that hit on that play goalie covered it welllll in time for him to stop and mad no indication he was playing it.
TheWhiteFactor 1 year ago
@TheWhiteFactor I give you that point. But we're talking about an act that happens all the time when the puck is in play near the goal. Guys are hitting, pushing, grabbing. It's all part of the game. If you're not prepared for contact in that situation, you're not thinking.
boilerbuzz 1 year ago
@boilerbuzz Except for the fact the players generally don't come from the blue line, and around one of their teammates who has stopped playing to leave their feet and drive the man into the boards from five yards away.
Truth is, this is the same hit Shelley (deservedly) got a two game suspension for earlier in the year.
tommykUD 1 year ago
he just got 2 games for this, the thing is if he didn't hit his head on the boards there would be no injury and probably no penalty, an unfortunate situation..
