  • Any tips on cleaning a Mont Blanc Boheme fountain pen?

  • when i dip my nib into the ink bottle, lots of ink remains on the nib even after i wipe it off with a towel. are there any techniques to removing this ink without having to empty the piston and wash the nib? i fear the problem will arise when i have to refill the pen. Thanks

  • Wow.

Now i can sleep calmly at night. :)

  • Just a couple of doubts:

    - Isn't it better to use destilled water? Using water from the tap may contain lime and obstruct the feed.

    - Don't you think that unscrewing the nib every time you flush the FP, will damage the gaskets earlier?

  • a fountain pen is not a rolls-royce engine...........its just a pen!

    well done sir !

  • Very useful instructions...My problems are solved. Amazing!!!

  • its so good

  • Soaking the nib in cold water will be a helpful exercise, although ink will still remain in the nib so using the piston to draw water through the nib flushes it quite effective and doesn't require leaving the nib to soak for several hours or even days, which may be required. I flush my pen out with water after around every third fill up, but this is because I tend to change ink colours then. Flushing after every fifth fill up or so should be enough to keep your nib flowing smoothly.

  • Good to see this being done. I do it on a regular basis but was never really sure how to do it properly. I tend to remove the nib and soak it in cold water and flush water into the barrel without the nib attached.

How often should one flush the pen?
