  • Beautiful! Memories of my childhood surface to my mind, mommy sitting me down next to her at an all- night sing! The statesmen were more than just a music group, they were inspired by the holy spirit to save, strengthen and heal my emotions, and everyone in the theatre or concert hall! At 55 years of age I look back to a more peaceful world, though it's always been lost without God, Chritianity wasn't attacked like today.   • Hovie was the pastor at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Marietta GA. I used to sing with The Statesman as child! what a thrill!

  • One of Big Chief's lowest notes is heard at 2:34 (an Ab1)! Awesome!

  • I have always liked the Statesmen. It's a shame the Big Chief had to die at a fairly early age with (I believe) a heart attack. Love Hovie Lister and Jake Hess!

  • @ClassicGospel I like JD Sumner and the Stamps, but these guys are pretty good.
