  • all rg prestige models are with same truss rod and that the big problem if you want some bigger strings... my trus rod was broken and need some replacements... everything is okey by rg series but the truss rod is problem

  • how much is the guitar

  • Dickss! why would they take off the sharktooth?

  • How can it be the 10th anniversary if it was introduced in 1987?

  • @slovan Because this guitar was made in 1997.

  • @abmanc98 And when was this video recorded?

  • @slovan Idk but they still make em' it's just when the model came out.

  • @abmanc98 1997+10 does not equal 2011. So how the hell is it a 10th anniversary model?

  • @slovan I said the guitar not the video!!! They still make them so he probably just got it and made it in 2011 it is possible if you didn't know.

  • @abmanc98 your dumb as shit

  • @slovan

The prestige line was introduced in 2001, but Paul is correct about the RG series as a whole starting in 1987

  • There isnt a stock ibanez guitar made today thats better than a stock Kramer striker custom fr 424 cm.

  • What has been said about the pickups is valid - they are acceptable at best. When I put Evolutions in both my Prestiges I quickly found they weren't wired for single coil operation like the manual claims - check it for yourself. However, everything else on these instruments is flawless. I have the new Premium, and the factory pickups on that are essentially the same as my Evolutions.

  • Prestige and it still has factory pups. I love ibanez(and play ibanez) but they are stingy with good pickups. My ict700 is one of few that comes with after market pickups from the factory

  • @Jpope0148 I own an RGD 2127z Prestige, the stock pickups are killer. You haven't been playing the right ones.

  • Comment removed

  • I love Ibanez

  • Does it have coil tapping capabilities?

  • Great review, He really does a great job of showing the versatility of the guitar.

  • my god it's a prestige with baswood and flamed maple top. how come i never notice em. i guess this is the last edge pro guitar eh.

  • A decent fixed bridge RG prestige and it's not even available in Europe... That's just horribly unfair :(

  • @HOMGN3WBZ

He was switching the switch position w

  • I love how at 1:48 he grabs for the trem bar that's not there. :D

  • @HOMGN3WBZ Actually he switched the pickup.

  • @HOMGN3WBZ Pickup selector

  • @HOMGN3WBZ not

  • well built guitars, and a great buy for anyone looking for a great guitar.

  • A prestige available with a FIXED BRIDGE!?!!? Dammit, too bad these arent too common!!!

  • I want one! I've decided that if I ever get an electric guitar, even if I get others, this will be my main one, for all time. :)

  • nice guitar but theycheaped out on the 5 piece neck - see the paper thin walnut slices. Almost defeats the purose of the 5 piece neck. Also, a neck thru would have been better.

  • nice blue burst

  • press 2 for epic guitar playing

  • im gonna buythe blue one of those for $600 half off YEAH. and what model is the blue one?

  • The Dotted Inlays Killed It!!!

  • @tevyandslash

No, the low pro and edge pro killed the RG.

  • @Trilobite8jesus The low pro and edge pro killed the Rg..really? They are equally good bridges and evolve of the old Edge bridge and are made by the same manufacturer(Gotoh). The Edge pro got some bad press because of the lack of locking studs, but they are easily upgraded and cost only 40 bucks.. The new Edge zero is sadly made in some asian country, but should be equally good because of the material quality and because it brings back the locking stud bolts.

  • @tevyandslash What's wrong with dotted inlays????

  • @tevyandslash Strange, I prefer the dots over any other inlay... (Or maybe the birds that PRS uses!)

  • Just layed away a blue 1421 yesterday, amazing guitar \m/

  • how many of these were made??

  • @AnOddMusician Ibanez Prestiges are a regular production serie so you shouldn't be concerned ;) Ibanez does separately limited editions of variations of the guitars they already feature in their yearly catalogue once or twice a year. IMO, the basswood body coupled with flame maple top and a thin bolt-on neck sounded just cardboardish :/ I wish Ibanez would sell their hardware separately though ;(

  • @Ningirsutyr yea but this is a limited edition model :p i just wanted to know cause i am getting one in a few weeks xD

and yea but its gonna be high quality woods, i personally dont get why ibanez uses basswood for everything but it sounds fine. and the maple top will help add a little more bite, i dont have a problem with bolt on necks either

  • @AnOddMusician basswood offers tonal dynamics that other woods dont allow so much

  • yo what pedals are you using

  • great sound , i also love the looks.

  • Does anybody know, if those guitar sound/feel somehow like an Ibanez RG 1451? Or does anybody one one? I wanna buy one, but i dont know if it's good or not

  • Why does paul always look like he's coming down off a 3 day cocaine binge without showering? lol

  • the neck on this thing is so much thinner than a les paul or schecter c-1, it's awesome :D

  • How do these compare to the ibanez premiums?

  • @XENONif Id put them on par with the premiums. I own neither, but Im around quite a bit, and have played both for a while. The neck shape feels better on the prestige, but I give everything else to the premium for sure. The 1420 is cheaper then the 920 though, keep that in mind too lol

  • I really want one

  • Must learn 0:32-0:43 riff. Sooooooooo cool!

  • my 2009 Ibanez Prestige RG3550mz RAPEEESSS any 3000$ gibson and my prestige was half that at a lil under 1500$

  • there are 5 fags in youtube

  • paul is a great guitar player

  • I was.gona pick one of these up haha

  • It sounds fantastic, but to be honest, I've seen better looking Ibanez's

  • VEry nice guitar

  • U read my mind! But id say mjf cuz hes talking bout a 1987 guitar. But the back to the future prom solo kills riario hands down lol!

  • He vaguely looks like young Michael j fox or billy joe from green day LOL

  • @Sansatilla maybe a mix xD

  • Those guitars are shredtastic

  • Great amp settings!

  • These are the 1997 RG's. There was also a 20th anniversary in 2007. Both the RG and the RG prestige were released in 1987 btw.

  • I hate the term 'fast neck'. It implies that it's the neck that makes you fast, like wearing special trainers makes you a good runner!

  • Shredtastic!

  • We want a video about new x-series.

  • is it made in Japan?

  • shouldnt it be the 24th annivesary?

  • ebmm wut

  • This dude is the WORST. If this is what lurks behind the doors of Guitar World I'm ashamed to have been such an avid fan as a child...

  • You guys do know that the prestige line exists 10 years not the rg model.

  • Shredtastic

  • Good stuff. I love Ibanez. I have an RG321. And good playing Paul.

  • @MrClint39 I'm considering buying a RG321 as my first Ibanez. Haven't been playing guitar much longer than a year. Would you recommend?

  • @willsi100 I've been playing for 25 and I've got an RG321. It plays great and sounds good. (new pups won't hurt) Fixed bridge FTW.

I'd LOVE one of these (fixed bridge), but... a little pricy for my bank. :/

  • basswood ? are you fuckin kidding me !!!!

  • just want one

  • IBANEZ RG PRESTIGE LINE

    not RG

  • great playing and tone

  • Damn, that solo was awesome as hell.

  • Looks and sounds like a dream

  • I'm not gonna lie, if I was in a band as the lead guitarist and they came to me and said, "we're getting Paul Riario as our new lead, and want you to be the rhythm guitarist", I'd be fine with that.

  • i've owned ibanez... own suhr and musicman... and let me tell you, whether the guitar is japanese, american, korean or whatever... there's still nothing like having a guitar made to your own demands with a luthier that knows his shit... because they will let you have the keys to your musical lamborghini... i've liked having signature guitars... but serial number guitars will never compare to the seriousness of REAL custom ones...

  • i love ibanez but only problem, they made their own copies of the floyd rose

  • nice demo, shreddy mcshredderson ^_^ \\m//

  • Funny. I remember playing the Tension free neck Prestige back in 97. So this isn't ten years.... BTW, anyone have any idea if they would re-release those, I wanna get one with the tension free neck. I liked the way those played, just couldn't afford one at the time.

  • Best guitar i've seen from someone in a cardigan:)

  • With a pickup change, these things could be monsters.

  • the colour is great :)and the sound ibanez nice ;)

  • this guy's good at the guitar

  • Really like the guitar, nice thin neck and awesome finish, but wish they would have put better pickups in.

  • I love that slightly muddy clean tone! Like pearl jam!

  • I love Paul's playing. It's a perfect combination of skill and originality but without taking the spotlight off demoing the guitar itself. Very, very cool. Keep up the good work Paul. Your videos are fucking great.

  • 0:52 whats the song?

  • @SymbolicNickolaus Paul always uses original stuff, but sometimes it is based off of songs that already exist.

  • One thing that cracked me up about this demo is Paul extolling the quality of Ibanez's pickups. Everyone knows that stock Ibby pickups are shit, which is why the higher-end Ibbys all have DiMarzios in them. One of the first thing I did when I bought my RG550 many moons ago was rip out all the electronics.

  • Whats the price of one of these guitars.

I love them when it comes to tone and for looks i dont care?

Can some one give me the answer?

    Thanks in advantage

  • @guitarherofreak161 if either just under 1000 bucks or a bit over it

  • @Morain42 thanks so were talking abouth a guitar around the 700/800 euro rank?

  • @guitarherofreak161 a bit more, around 900-1000, looked it up lol

  • Paul got lazy for this demo? How can anyone actually switch sounds as he's playing so unprofessionally? Disappointed...

  • horrible guitar

  • @ubershredder1989 Explain your opinion, please

  • @MrNeosantana it looks like a hyena that has just been violated by a giraffe .... in my opinion.

  • @ubershredder1989 Ouch, Dude, it only looks like every other Strat

  • bad inlays

  • @mattmanmkb what type of inlay do you want? kirk hammett's?

  • @ibzmav I dont know i just thought they'd do something speial for the 10th anniversery. My RG prestige has shark tooth lnlays

  • orgy prestige

  • what are you amp settings when you played the red guitar, it sounded really nice

  • subliminal messaging int his vid for sure.

  • does anybody know the prices of these guitars? Or where i can find them online?

  • the first clean riff reminds me of what Paul played in demo of MIKE MUSHOK baritone guitar...

  • worst job switching between sounds.

  • Wrong. Their top of the line models are from the j.custom line.

  • "Shredtastic"

  • i think paul should do guitar covers

  • Nice guitars, and very well priced. They should come with a hardcase though :(

  • Do a review on the Ibanez Premium Series! <3

  • Prestige ain't the top of the line, Paulie. That would probably be J-Custom. :cop:

  • I wish i had tabs for what he plays

  • @Prophecy001orEX ...that's just improvising....basic scales.

  • Very nice guitars and playing Paul is my favorite !!

  • Ibanez are the best guitars. That's all i can say

  • Does the blue have a tremolo version?

  • @AHTSvideo No but there is a black burst version of the one with a tremolo

  • @alvarezgtr91 ah ok... that dissapoints me a little, but thanks for the info!

  • Just out of curiosity, what amp are you using?

  • Beautiful guitars!

  • what i dont get is it came out in 1987 how is it the 10th anniversary

  • @MFG666EmOTP It isn't the 10th anniversary of the RG, it's the 10th anniversary of using the 'Prestige' label on some RGs, which they started doing around 2001.

  • @MFG666EmOTP

The prestige models were released in 2001 .

  • @MFG666EmOTP the Rg yes but not the RG prestige.....

  • @MFG666EmOTP Because 2011-1987=10. Didn't you know?

  • @rhythmkeeper009 Its the anniversary of Prestige, not Ibanez themselves. :D

  • @rhythmkeeper009 It's not the 10th Anniversary of the RG Series, it's the 10th Anniversary of the RG *PRESTIGE* Series...

  • @scarred2112 It's a little thing called sarcasm, my friend.

  • @rhythmkeeper009 Gotcha - it's sad when the Internets has people on it that are so... "lacking" that I often have to take comments like yours with a grain of salt and wonder "Did they *really* mean that?!?"

...and I'm a Bassist whose first 10 years playing was with Ibanez basses, and a brother who grew up on an old-school RG-550 in Salmon Pink, so I'm down with the Prestiges. :D

  • @MFG666EmOTP its the 10th anivversary of rg presige

  • @MFG666EmOTP erm you know that the guitar is a 10th anniversary edition so these guitars already exist for around 14 years

  • @mc2alfawolf You mean 24? 1987+24 = 2011 =P

  • @Airakobra aah who gives a fuck xD

  • @MFG666EmOTP LOL!

  • @MFG666EmOTP mb it's prestige series anniversary

  • @MFG666EmOTP It's probably 10th anniversary of the prestiege models

  • @MFG666EmOTP I think it's the 10th anniversary of the Prestige series of RGs.

  • @MFG666EmOTP Maybe it's a specific prestige model, that's why it's 10th anniversary.

  • @MFG666EmOTP I think the Ibanez RG's (just the normal series) came out in 1987, but the prestige ones came out in 91.

  • @trokeification

Well, that would make these the 20th anniversary models then. Just doing the math. ;)

  • @ToneZone750 Oops. Typo. ;) 01 is what I meant to say.

  • @MFG666EmOTP the 10th anniversary of the prestige models

  • @MFG666EmOTP 10th anniversary of the prestige lineup.

  • @MFG666EmOTP it's the 10th anniversary of the 10th anniversary guitar

  • @MFG666EmOTP

RG series was originally made in 1987

RG USA series was discontinued ~2000

RG "Prestige" [Japanese made] series replaced the USA as the top model ~2000

The dates are a little iffy. For the fact of the matter that I have a first year RG1570. A "2003 Ibanez RG1570 Prestige" which has a serial number denoting it was made in 2002. Something that is known to happen in the earlier models as the necks were actually made the year before the guitar was built.

  • @MFG666EmOTP

RG series was originally made in 1987 as a lower end JEM

RG USA series were the top dog through the 90s and closed roughly ~2000

RG Japanese made "Prestige" series replaced the USA made models as the top dogs at that time

If we really want to get nit picky I have a first year Ibanez RG1570 Prestige. Technically it is a 2003, but reading the model number it is 2002. Even though the "Prestige" line supposedly is supposedly 2000, you wont find one with a # denoting prior 2002.

  • @MFG666EmOTP There goes the stereotype that Asian's are good at math.

  • @MFG666EmOTP they are showing the 10th anniversary guitars from 1997.

  • @MFG666EmOTP the company started in 1987? I think that that is what he wants to tell or something xD

  • @MFG666EmOTP the RG PRESTIGE series came out in 2001 i think

  • looks great!

  • i like how prestige, thjose inlays are, so original

  • @Symm3trical5carz where man ?

  • @harkatmulds9

    haha why you say that?

  • the s series is better in my opinoin if only they made a fix bridge s guitar.

  • @KingofPho75 The SA's are pretty much fixed bridge, have you ever tried one?

  • first song sounds like jimmy eat world-work at the beggining, called it lol

  • Idk I mean they're nice I guess but for the price you pay they really should give you better pickups and a neck made from less pieces that isn't bolted on.

And that whole thin = fast neck thing is such a lie. Fat necks = Good tone, it doesn't affect speed of play at all. They're just cheaping out on wood.

  • @iTzNoxy I do agree with the fact thin does not mean fast ALWAYS but for different people a thinner neck allows for faster playing, I am one of those people who finds the Wizard II neck is fantastic for shredding. Also the five piece neck even though it sounds bad is a good thing as it allows for the neck to be stronger against warping that necks made from one piece of maple (Fender strat necks can do this)

  • defineately the best ibanez ive ever played on

  • Made in Japan? No thanks.
