@ralf272 thats the cheapest and crappiest sounding cymbals that paiste has to offer... sorry to say it man but you should have bought at least pst5's or better (alphas, 2002's etc) pst3 and 101's just suck
@esmod89 Well it sounds better to me than a zildijan one I have tried out that without the stand cost 250 pounds and I got mine with stand for only 80 pounds, jokes on you.
I play a mix of Sigs and Rudes, Have an old Innovations Ride I love. Nothing Beats my Sig 15" Fast Crash or my hats got them custom Signature Dark Crisp Top and Fat Rude bottom makes for a nice sound.
I'm wishing to have a sound for deathcore with my cymbals. What cymbals and their sizes should I get if I give myself a max budget of around 800$ ? Thx :)
@junos6 OMG if I had the money for Meinl, I'd have no hesitation to go for it... But I'm thinking of getting the Paiste Alpha series. They're good for the price, that's what internet says! Fuck me, choosing your cymbals is hard stuff when you're poor.
the twenty's sounded awesome to me, alot of energy and punch, especially in the ride...but so far i havent seen one comment on them lol. looks like it was either mixed very well and its very cheap and quiet but been turned up in the mix OR its just awesome but more a personal preference i guess :)
@KTVX94 It's all opinion, so no particular type of cymbal is oriented for a certain genre, whatever you think will work, works. I know that Paiste says that they are made for metal players, but that doesn't mean they can't be used for other genres, and vice-versa with other cymbals.
@ShittyMcPoopyBalls Of course, I think that too. I was expressing my opinion, never said anyone shouldn't use them, sorry if it was expressed wrongly. I just think they don't sound good,
pst5 i think are a very good quality because iv hade mine for 3 weeks and still havent got broken in and i play for 2 to three hours a day and does eny one no eny good places to get paiste alpha series
@chaka11able they are pretty good actually i love crashing my medium ride and it's been taking a beating for almost 3 years now and no signs of cracking
How much do you think that this kid got paid? lol. Anyway I'm really digging the Dark Energy Cymbals. I think all cymbal and drum head companies should do this. It is a great way to show of different sounds of all their products.
@jewelboy999 I've had the same ride for seven years. It's not broken. I know people that have played the same cymbal for 40 years. The PST5s are decent enough cymbals but you must have something wrong with your technique if you think that's impressive!
alpha rules duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudes i play them for more then 5 years and still they haven't take a single scratch, really solid cymbals and i played metalcore at that time, now i play surfmusic and they still fit the style givin' it a powerful side
FANTASTIC IDEA....... All cymbal manufacturers should do this, but as they don't they won't get my money. I have played on Sabian cymbals most of my drumming life, an have been looking for a new set to with my spare kit. After watching this vid, I'm off to the shop to buy some Alpha series. They sound crisp & bright, and will fit in well with my bands sound. Thanks, GOOD WORK.
I may be going out on a limb here but im almost positive they are rock alphas. If you want rocks get the 17 and 19 or the 18 20 crashes. the 16 is my third crash i got after the 18 and 20 and it is quite. Like it can be heard but its really like a punk and metal splash that can actually be heard
@tirtashintaro I find the PSTs too short! they have no sustain, just like my B8s. Also, the Rude Ride sounds like it would be prone to "getting away" on you. It seems like it just keeps building :S
@PacisVictus : well, i don't know about that dude, but it's just sounds awesome here...lol, i've use the PST at studio once, but i don't know about the Rude. :)
@tirtashintaro Rudes should be avoided for studio work. They work great live but their massive chaotic sound bleeds over into the mix and overpowers everything. Unless you're playing with huge Bubinga drums, you probably won't be able to compete with the overwhelming power and volume.
@drumsistkrieg1349 well still, it also depends on the mic setup and level settings, if they're set correctly, it will sound a little bit better. maybe a lot lol.
@amtrakboy37 Yeah, everything could be equalized and eddied but then what's the entire point of using the Rudes to begin with if you're just going to edit them out? I don't know, it's all up to the player.
This comparison vid is an excellent idea. However, IMO drums are too loud in the mix here which prevents differences in respective cymbals series to be heard clearly enough.
I like the rides in all but the last one, i like most hi-hats, and i like the crashes on the first, but not most of the rest. But they all sounded good all together. How much for the first one?
@SoundStation98 the first one are pst3's and have all of them. the all sound good and they are very cheap! My 16 crash was only 46 bucks and hi hats and crash ride were a hundred dollars for the set. they are deffinitly a good choice!
In the Sabian videos, they cover up the natural cymbal sound with the same song on every video, which overrides the overtones, and they might EQ slightly, making all the cymbals sound amazing, even the B8. Paiste doesn't have to use those shortcuts, and all the stuff sounds amazing anyway. Paiste for life!
My current setup consists of three TRX ALT crashes, Zildjian Hi-Hats and Ride, a 6" Zilbell, a 12" Wuhan china to beat up and an 18" Paiste Signature China which I love to death. Paiste makes some great cymbals in general, but I swear by their chinas, at least their higher end ones. They are expressive and have real personality to them, whereas a lot of chinas out there just sound like trash can lids. Before the Signature, I had an 18" Paiste 2002 Thin China and loved that one as well :)
