The mustang isn't overrated though, my first car a 93' cobra cost me $2500 from an old lady 8 years back ran low 14's. Since then I've added a Garrett Twin Turbo 74mm's, suspension mods, and i put it on a diet. Now run's 8.72@157mph on a 10.5 street tire( pilot sport). Cost me $12,680 in total including the car. That's 5-10k less then a cobalt ss t/c depending on mileage. For a mustang that's not overrated. But the 2003ish MACH 1 IS overrated. So don't through em down the river without a paddle.

My 2.0 is great, but put a cobra supercharger on a gt and is a monster. Example my friends 08mustang gt. I'd be good with cai, ic, +cp, cat less dp, exhaust. Turbo upgrade..maybe in a year or two lol
@N3CROKiLLA33 just be careful. the gt is a 2v engine where as the cobra is a 4v engine and the engine itself can take stock around 900-1000hp whereas a gt can take 500 at most. dont put it above 8lbs of boost with stock internals

There was a video of a skyline all motor done up by a race team in japan, and the driver said the car was scary to drive around the track because of the power and torque. Now thats AWD, and probably 6 cylinder, but even so thats sick fast dude. Now a 4 cylinder, say something like a k20 honda motor built up, now those are fast, ive seen them take on corvettes. V8 is a whole different animal, it just opens up alot of potential.

@jasonschwarting Mustangs aren't a joke, that Mach 1 is a slap in the face to mustang owners, $5500 for an extra 5 hp. The T/C is no joke either....stock with trifecta or HPtuners 30psi will give you 400+ torque at the wheels and at significantly less weight it's a no brainer. Out a real 5.0 up there and it would be closer. I love them both and you shouldn't sell out the mustang.Plus the V8's always sounds better in general.

If the Mach runs mid 13's @ 105mph (which are bone stock Mach 1 numbers) then that Cobalt must be a very low 13 to high 12 second ride. Go check out the Cobalt forums. The supercharged Cobalt guys brag when they run 14.40's (which is a very respectable time for one of those). Congrads to the Cobalt either way.

@00saleen9244ssscm You can get a mustang gt to easily be in the 12s, do you have a set of slicks on it for the track? With a full exhaust, intake, throttle body/intake manifold, mild cam and slicks you should be under the 12.90 mark. Thats still what I consider bolt ons too, and if you're using weight reduction you should hit 12s easy everytime

Chevy has a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder direct injected car that can run even in a straight line with a Dodge R\T charger or Challenger and even run even with a ford 2005-2009 Mustang GT... And out handle those cars like they were made in the early 80's... Gotta love it...
This Mach 1 cant be even near 350 whp....... Although a tune only cobalt will get near 315 hp crank from 260 crank stock.... My buddy's stock turbo 2009 balt SS put down 247 to the wheels and 267 tq... thgat hp number at the wheels is close to a stock Mach 1 at the wheels.... and the SS actually made more tq at the wheels than a stock Mach 1....plus the balt SS is 300 lbs lighter... Ford fans cant handle the fact that a chevy 4 banger beats newer V8 MUSTANGS
This Mach 1 is not making 480 whp. Other videos around with 3v 4.6's running about neck and neck with turbo Cobalts.. which is about right. 2011 Mustang GT? You going to need some serious mods just to keep up. Balls to the wall modding? Cobalt SS's are interesting but when you can run 7s in the quarter or better? Let me know.
I drive a 2003 mach with full exhaust, intake, intake spacer, some suspension work and some good tires. As far as any cobalt ive had the pleasure of racing got beat. Roll or dig. Srt10 ram gets it bad too. Driver mod is the best mod

@ballorfall44 then that driver must've missed shifted cause cobalts usually run mid 14s 0-60 in 5.9 sec and the 5speed mach 1 runs 0-60 in 4.7sec even the 4speed auto runs 0-60 in 5.6sec!!!!!!!

The mustang isn't overrated though, my first car a 93' cobra cost me $2500 from an old lady 8 years back ran low 14's. Since then I've added a Garrett Twin Turbo 74mm's, suspension mods, and i put it on a diet. Now run's 8.72@157mph on a 10.5 street tire( pilot sport). Cost me $12,680 in total including the car. That's 5-10k less then a cobalt ss t/c depending on mileage. For a mustang that's not overrated. But the 2003ish MACH 1 IS overrated. So don't through em down the river without a paddle.

My 2.0 is great, but put a cobra supercharger on a gt and is a monster. Example my friends 08mustang gt. I'd be good with cai, ic, +cp, cat less dp, exhaust. Turbo upgrade..maybe in a year or two lol

@N3CROKiLLA33 just be careful. the gt is a 2v engine where as the cobra is a 4v engine and the engine itself can take stock around 900-1000hp whereas a gt can take 500 at most. dont put it above 8lbs of boost with stock internals

There was a video of a skyline all motor done up by a race team in japan, and the driver said the car was scary to drive around the track because of the power and torque. Now thats AWD, and probably 6 cylinder, but even so thats sick fast dude. Now a 4 cylinder, say something like a k20 honda motor built up, now those are fast, ive seen them take on corvettes. V8 is a whole different animal, it just opens up alot of potential.

The T/C is no joke either....stock with trifecta or HPtuners 30psi will give you 400+ torque at the wheels and at significantly less weight it's a no brainer. Out a real 5.0 up there and it would be closer. I love them both and you shouldn't sell out the mustang.Plus the V8's always sounds better in general.

Mach 1's run mid 13's bone stock, And I've seen plenty of SS Cobalts smoke camaro's and corvettes too, any car with forced induction now matter how big or small the engine should be quick, and yet the mach1 was side by side almost the entire race with only 45 more HP and weighs 600lbs more, you're just one of those people that shouldn't talk.

So you either totally suck @ driving or the Cobalt has more mods than you are claiming. If the Mach runs mid 13's @ 105mph (which are bone stock Mach 1 numbers) then that Cobalt must be a very low 13 to high 12 second ride. Go check out the Cobalt forums. The supercharged Cobalt guys brag when they run 14.40's (which is a very respectable time for one of those). Congrads to the Cobalt either way.

Weight reduction really helps with stangs though, my buddy has a fox body with a 351 and straight gutted with slicks... we waste all kinds of cars that in reality should be us. With a full exhaust, intake, throttle body/intake manifold, mild cam and slicks you should be under the 12.90 mark. Thats still what I consider bolt ons too, and if you're using weight reduction you should hit 12s easy everytime

Chevy has a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder direct injected car that can run even in a straight line with a Dodge R\T charger or Challenger and even run even with a ford 2005-2009 Mustang GT... And out handle those cars like they were made in the early 80's... Gotta love it...

This Mach 1 cant be even near 350 whp....... Although a tune only cobalt will get near 315 hp crank from 260 crank stock.... My buddy's stock turbo 2009 balt SS put down 247 to the wheels and 267 tq... thgat hp number at the wheels is close to a stock Mach 1 at the wheels.... and the SS actually made more tq at the wheels than a stock Mach 1....plus the balt SS is 300 lbs lighter... Ford fans cant handle the fact that a chevy 4 banger beats newer V8 MUSTANGS
