What lens do you use to shoot? I really want to start shooting paintball any tips?

That lens is a Canon 70-200. Tip wise, it depends how familiar you are with cameras and photography in general. It also depends on how much money you'd be willing to spend. My current paintball photography gearbag is around $5,000USD, but I've been able to do just about the same quality with about $900. My recommendation will be based on your budget and how far you wish to take the hobby.

I do that when I start to get shot at or if paint starts bouncing off bunkers. Every time I'm on an NXL field that hood is aimed straight into the sky if I'm not shooting because it's like a 600 dollar lens.

Camera it's mounted to: Canon EOS 20D w/ 70-200mm lens.

I would recommend a Canon XT for a really good and affordable DSLR.

Do you have some kind of protection on your lens? I usually take lots of pictures when playing paintball, but I can't find any protection for my lens.

I have a UV Filter for the glass portion, and wristbands for the side of the lens. This seems to do the trick, really.  When I get shot at, I just aim into the sky (as you can kind of see in the video every once in a while.)

This video doesn't show where I'm looking, but I am scouting the field 80% of the time and looking through the viewfinder of the DSLR. The point and shoot camera was mounted such that I couldn't see it--merely know that it was recording the broad wide angle.

Buy a warranty for your lens and body and expect it to get shot a lot. Anything else will either get in your way when you're shooting, or reduce image quality. Also get a lens filter and that will reduce the chance of the other blades breaking from a direct hit. Every time I aim my lens in the sky is when I'm getting hit.

This video was created in response to an FAQ concerning my services. I always get emails asking how many pictures I take at an event or of a specific team and after answering them, I still find people puzzled when I only post 100 or so pictures in my galleries thinking that was all I took. So to answer a few questions of what I'm doing out there, I made this video using a cheap point and shoot mounted to my DSLR. It merely gives a general angle of what it is I do.
